this fucking combat system
This fucking combat system
...
>Cress
This was my first rpg and i have fond memories with it. Dhoas is the coolest final boss. Gameplay is too dated for todays standards
>mGBA
what the fuck is this shit
Use VisualBoy Advance like everyone else
>pick Arche
>fly to max height
>almost nothing can even hit you
Yeah if you are stupid enough to play the GBA version.
The PS1 remaster not only runs better, but it looks better too.
I DWELL IN THE ABOUNDING LIGHT OF HEAVEN
...
IT ENDS HIYA
INDIGNATION
The psp version that came with ndx is even better since it has full voice, extra content (in addition to the extra content from the gba version) and no spell freeze.
Is it in English?
>Use VisualBoy Advance like everyone else
No, use VBA-M
a what now
More like don't play the fucking GBA version at all.
youtube.com
This. PSX version is the best.
Also, don't know about GBA, because I dropped it around the intro, but both SNES and PSX have different but good combat systems. You just need to turn the controls to manual on PSX after getting the ring in Moria.
On SNES you get different results when you use an action (normal hit, run and jump hit and so on) from different distances.
Mgba is the most accurate GBA emulator now.
>PSX version is the best.
Not when the NDX version exists.
I noticed some days ago that Estelle is only character in vesperia that don't have her costume in another game
and that Hearts R is the only game in the series without a destiny costume
Yeah it's been translated and patched,
There is the PSP version too, which is VASTLY SUPERIOR to both, but last I heard it was still in the translation phase. It's a small team doing a lot of unofficial translating and they can only do this in their spare time.
At least two different groups have fan-translated it 100%, actually, so not only is it in english, but you can take your pick which one you prefer.
>and that Hearts R is the only game in the series without a destiny costume
I noticed. Kinda surprised. Considering many times they tend to throw ToD in some form.
>GBA Phantasia
What the FUCK are you doing, OP?
Tales of Phantasia, Destinty, Destiny 2 and Remake are the only good Tales games.
That's possible, I didn't even know that thing also had the main game. Next time I'm replaying it on PSP then.
Add rebirth and hearts (not hearts r) and I agree.
And is always Stahn,Rutee or Leon
Bonus points of Yuri
and eternia
True.
Well Destiny 2 is Eternia, unless he is referring to the actually Destiny 2, which would be stupid as shit because it isn't even translated.
I don't even care if I can't read runes. If I can't read it in my native language, the language I am best with (Dutch), then it would be hard to immerse myself.
Good? There are more. Abyss, Symphonia, Vesperia, Xillia, even Zestiria isn't "bad".
Great? Phantasia and Abyss.
what
since when can you control anyone other than Cless in ToP?
even when he dies you control his ghost to sort of position your party members
>gba
emulate the ps1 version
you also get to equip a ring that fixes the combat
I am referring to the actual Destiny 2.
Remake wasn't translated either IIRC.
Tales of the Abyss nigga.
>it isn't even translated.
You say that like it matters.
I guess battle system wise they have evolved after the earlier titles. Everything else has gone downhill.
I'll take Destiny and its subpar battle system but amazing world cities painted backgrounds etc. than the samey looking garbage areas and enemies and characters from the recent annual entries.
Innocence R had my favorite crossover costumes
And Rutee is here so i guess is okay
Do you actually immerse yourself in JRPGs?
Because that's the strongest autism I've ever heard of.
There is literally zero tether between the plotline of any Tales Of game and reality.
WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?
You're so uninformed.
What the fuck? The point of games is immersion, especially rpgs, which are supposed to take you to other worlds. Reality doesn't mean anything when you're playing a game, all that matters is the game's reality.
what did you just call me
Hey guys did you know the point of Tic Tac Toe is to immerse yourself in the violent battle between cross and circle?
Hey guys chess is the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had. The war between black and white is amazing!!!
Only immersion matters in games :)
>The point of games is immersion
Ho fuck off.
Of course it seems silly to get immersed in games like those, since they're very simple and we have much better games. You've let shitposters poison your mind so that tou frwak out like an autist the moment you see certain "buzzwords."
*you freak
honestly not being able to relate to others is an actual sign of autsim. if you cant self insert at some level with the main character in a jrpg, there might be something wrong with you mentally.
>playing the GBA version of Phantasia
Are you fucking retarded?
is it translated tho?
Yeah, it's got its downsides. Even the vastly superior PS1 remake forces you to sit through boring-ass spell animations and fight damage sponge enemies.
I know it's been pointed out a million times itt already, but seriously OP play the PSX version, I went from really disliking this game when I first played it on GBA to regarding it as possibly my favorite Tales game of all time. Granted there are still a bunch of Tales games I haven't played, but it's still really fucking good
>Playing Tales
>Not playing superior Star Ocean
Kek.
FUCKS
LIKE
A
TIGER
The only SO that's superior to any Tales game is 2.
The problem is that the SNES version- and the GBA version as well since it's an emulation of it and not a complete rebuild that they had to do for Sony systems because no Mode 7 meme graphics- had framerate issues. The hardware couldn't quite deal with what the game wanted it to do, so frame rates took a hit. Combat felt clunkier, small screen for the GBA also meant that it could be a bit of a chore to piece together what the fuck was happening.
...
Nah, the GBA hardware wasn't a problem. The retards who ported the game were the problem.
Wrong on the latter part. You don't "self insert" to characters unless you choose to, and you don't have to relate to them at all to like them. I really don't think there is a correlation between the personalities of Sonic the Hedgehog and Chris Chan, for example.
Anyone got a link to a ROM + translation patch?
What does that have to do with anything he said? You don't have to have a similar personality to someone to relate to them. Sonic is a platformer anyway, so the characters' personalities in that game hardly even matter.
I played a bit of Phantasia when I was younger, but that was the snes one. Should I go back and try that again or go with the psx release?
The farthest I got was some island mansion with a tree in it, I think? I wasn't very far.
...Everything with what he said. And genre doesn't matter.
Seems like English isn't your first language. Sorry for asking.
Just fucking google it you moron, it's not hard.
Here's the better fan translation of the two:
tales-cless.org
Find the ISO on emuparadise or something, then patch it.
>gba tales of phantasia
what the fuck is wrong with you OP?
Phantasia is so good I beat it on SNES, found out it was remade on PSX 3 days later and immediately beat it again. I kinda wanna play the PSP version now.
Oh come on, dude, it's a 7.5/10 at best.
>Play Eternia after Phantasia
>Find the hidden boss
>Name is not only a Time Pun, but can also be pronounced as Second Dhaos
>Get my ass kicked
>He's only at like half health
>mfw Keele does it
>even Zestiria isn't "bad"
I bet you'd defend Tempest if it got a Steam release.
>no actual counter argument
>using a petty insult
Being proficient in arguing must be difficult.
So once more to reiterate. There is nothing wrong with not relating to a character and self insertion is entirely optional.
It's a good fuckin' game my dude.
Innocence R is good as well
Does it still have the cheesy English voices like
>Stand-alone emulator for GBA
It's Japanese VA user.
It's in Japanese.
Not him, but I'm a pretty avid jrpg player and decided to dip into Tales of last year since it came out on steam That was the last year of my PC faggotry, I'm on PS4 now
And compared to a lot of rpgs I wouldn't say it was completely terrible.
It had many problems in the story and gameplay that I won't excuse, but they didn't completely ruin the game in my opinion.
It just felt like it needed more development time and a new director/producer since Baba seemed to be taking too many liberties with it.
Too bad no one play that
reminder Keroro RPG is the best Tales
They're obviously of milky caliber being so interested in an "alright" videogame at best.
Shame..
Tempest had best opening
It's not even up there by SNES standards.
The real best Tales is Swordcraft Story
No, that was Innocence DS
youtube.com
Innocence DS OP is better
Stand-alones have been proven to be OBJECTIVELY superior to RA, unless you're a filter fag.
It really is.
I'm still a tad sore that it never got localized.
But I suppose it's for the best.
Why are you playing that version retard? Even the dejap SNES version is superior and frankly has a better translation.
Meant for
OP's brain is fucked.
Like a tiger.
I remember this line.
Fucking retards
PPSSPP and Dolphin are better by themselves indeed but everything else isn't. mGBA is better on Retroach and also more comfortable
I have done SNES a few times and GBA. Never beast PSP/PS1 but I want to now.
This user has taste, Vesperia and Legendia are runner ups.
youtube.com
The original nintendo memehouse. Truly ahead of the curve.
Sounds like your opinion my buddy. It's up there with Chrono Trigger for me, and it's still a great PSX game.
