Just started this game. It's pretty sick.
Darkest Dungeon
Daily reminder.
Sick as in ''JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING'' or ''THIS GAME IS FUCKING RAD WOOHOO''?
yes
Game's got the perfect mix between whimsical and depressing. Wish it was more bleak, but it's fine as is.
Do they increase the chance of being surprised in Champion dungeons? My A team have been surprised continously in Radiant Light and all I can say is what the fuck?
there is nothing on this earth more retarded than having to starve 2 second right after you've just fed your entire team
not even liberals
Is this game cracked?
I wanna give it a test drive before dropping some cash.
I'm into the art and the narrator but I don't know how the rest of it feels.
Base chance is the same at all level I think. Try stacking up your scouting chance if you don't like being surprised.
played it for around 10 hours. the rng was so awful I just quit after a while
>2 Madmen in a row
>None of the drop anything good
Game's pretty gud, too bad there is not enough enemy diversity. I guess it should also have traditional gothic elements without overusing le evil Cthulhu unspeakable evil.
Now that it seems we're starting to get a more scheduled discussion, I decided to start on doing some skins again. Nothing too big, I'm currently retooling the Helmet Less Crusader Mod to look a bit better. For one redrawing the Head part of the Holy Lance attack to not be look as awkward. After this, probably gonna go and fix up Bucket Crusader too. Then after this I'm hopefully gonna start on Russian Occultist.
How long till you reach the wall and stop playing, I wonder
>Russian Occultist
>whole map explored
>well shit I need space for this trinkets
>drop keys after all there only one curio left
>last curio is a locket chest
>SOMEHOW I scout the secret room
>fuck
>fight before the secret room is a madman
> he drops both the cresendo and the aria box
T-thanks game now Im scared shitless that you will fuck me in the as big time
What's your method for making skins? I open and close the game any time i edit a sprite to make sure i didn't go out of bounds, and it's so tedious i usually just give up half way through. Is there a better way?
Game is very sick before the monotony sets in.
I'm actually on the process of making a template to know how out of bounds a sprite can go. Once I'm finished I'll upload them somewhere.
Is it simple to tweak stack sizes? Changing the stack size for gold, gems and other such loot is a change I've seen people say they made a few times in these threads.
>that incredible feel when just killed pic related
One could say that :The bigger the beast, the greater the glory.
Not likely.
I'm a grind whore.
He is rather easy to deal with, the real big problem are the raiders and all the fights before him.
Might just be a shit RNG run too. I've had times where I get surprised a lot and others where the enemy is surprised a lot.
I'm at 150 hours now, so I don't know
Very fun and entertaining for artstyle and announcer.
Gets really fucking boring really fast.
3/10 game with 10/10 presentation
>start new estate
>stick to no torch
This is more brutal that I remember.
How the fuck do I deal with this cunt overlord if I don't have a pull skill in my party? Well, aside from just running away.
>start a new save after actually buying the game
>reach the Hamlet for the first time
>Reynauld: Why all the concern? I've seen nothing horrific
oh sweet child
yeah, it's use a fucking antiquarian like a man you dumb scrub kill yourself
HOW QUICKLY THE TIDE TURNS
Hate these guys. I should get back to playing this, been a while.
Stun is pretty OP against him, plus he's pretty slow i think.
When RNG fucks over my stun i usually just blight and bleed his ass every round. Take out the vestals and MaA's fast if you can
Stuns and plague.
Bopping him with a stun gives you a free turn, and he isn't himself all that healthy.
Stun him before he summons the heads to get 2 rounds of hits on him, then stack DOTS with back liners like plague doctor and grave robber.
If you can't reliably hit the back lines at all times, you need to rethink your party comp
>The Collector
>and a party with no way to deal with a backline
Towering, fierce, terrible. Nightmare made material!
I can't be the only one who was massively disappointed by the final boss.
I like this game but that final boss always annoys me. I guess I just expected something...bigger for the literal heart of darkness?
Here is a neat trick: kill the highwayman and damage the Vestal, leave her with barely a single hp since the AI heals and guards the one with leat hp.
Leaving those two alive after killing the Collector is the best thing, you can heal and cure stress
the highwayman head is the only thing capable of real damage, so any characters that can't hit the collector should be killing or stunning them.
Why does the collector only collect Vestals, Highwaymen, and Men at Arms?
> Doing Coves hostile room clear run
> Have shitty team of Occultist, Vestal, Leper and Hellion (All level 0)
> Somehow wrecking enemies with it and been getting great heal crits
> Scouting
> Only one hostile room left and one enemy tile before it
> Time to end this que-
> REMIND YOURSELF
> FUCKING COLLECTOR APPEARS
> FUCKING 2 M@A AND VESTAL
> 75% PROT ON BOTH M@A
> COLLECTOR MASS STRESSING PARTY AT THE BACK
> CANT VESTAL STUN BECAUSE OF GUARD
> NO PULLS
> CAN ONLY HIT FRONT TWO M@A
> HAVE TO DEAL WITH VESTAL HEALS
> Somehow manage to deal with two M@A with 75% PROT and constant Vestal healing.
> Collect Call
> HOW QUICKLY THE TIDES TURN
So anyways this game is 10/10, really enjoy it.
Been thinking of picking this up recently. Can anyone tell me if this is the kind of game you can put an hour or two into here and there and still have fun?
I don't have much time to put into games anymore :(
Who are some good dudes to pair the Crusader up with? I really like him, but I always feel like other characters do everything he does way better.
This is the best fucking trinket in the game
> -100% Food consumed
> -100% DMG when starving
> +5 DODGE
Literally no downside and tremendous value
post trinkets.
Hard mode: no Ancestral
So when you know you are starving? You can see the info somewhere or you gotta guess?
That's why I always bring either a heavy backline damage dealer, or someone with a pull with me no matter where I go.
Overconfidence truly is a slow and insidious killer.
you starve if you run out of food, which you never will again since that character doesn't eat
He's a very satisfying boss to kill. His Trinket is really nice with mark parties.
So the trinket is just a +5 all the time? What happen if you hit a hunger trap in the hallway?
No way near as good as I've wanted it to be but I feel it's serviceable enough
AHH, KOS
Take him into the ruins for the bonus unholy damage.
>nuking the cove with a front line occultist with ethereal cross + eldritch slaying ring
>that's a + 65% sacrificial stab
>going dark = crits for days
>mfw the shambler randomly spawns in the wrong fucking neighborhood with his bullshit and eats consecutive 40+ crits
...
I want to be good at the game but I'm so fucking bad.
I've seen people been dealt worse RNG and manipulated it in a fashion where they ended up better off than me.
I've tried looking up tips but I just don't have a mind for it.
It hurts
i like pairing him with the leper for that 1-2 wombo cleave
Neither of them are as good as the hellion though
who?
You sound like a beta.
Be confident, bro.
do suicide runs for practice
theres no downside to them
you only need 3 rations to pass it, which you should have Since a single 12 stack will now last you through 4 checks instead of 3. So it's a double bonus
I wonder what they would talk about.
Sorry, meant to say Kosm.
Ohhh, ok.
>tfw BOTH the Collector AND the Shambler spawn in your dungeon and don't have an effective party comp for either
Top right looks like a Silent Hill version of RoboCop
I killed him 5 minutes ago. What a fight.
Had to restart countless time to not get fucked by RNG.
I still don't know if i like this game or not
it's a hard game to figure out, doesn't really follow the typical rules of games in the genre
i couldn't get anywhere until i realized it was pointless to spend any money on a character unless they were a really good combo of skills and traits
The RNG makes me want to murder children of the developers sometimes
haven't played in awhile tho so maybe its better but crits pretty much ruined any chance of progressing after the fight cause people would just go insane
>i couldn't get anywhere until i realized it was pointless to spend any money on a character unless they were a really good combo of skills and traits
What made you come to this conclusion? When I was playing I pretty much didn't give a fuck and just upgraded whoever could do their initiation dungeon and not come out completely fucked
You literally sound like a person who goes all in on garbage in poker and then bitches about the hand you got dealt instead of thinking about how you should play your hand.
Night Rings #1 trinket
that dmg, that acc
well usually the ones who survived had skills that were a good combo with other characters or my playstyle, pretty much the same thing really
> get 4 crits in a row on your team
> everyone goes insane
yea shoulda used all that skill to prevent that from happening right
I like this game but I always find myself playing other games instead.
I wish there was a phone/tablet version, this style of game would work really well in that format.
I like the aesthetic and gameplay but just cant play it for too long before getting too stressed and dropping it.
Similar thing to five nights at freddys. I know that's the point of the game, and that it just means I should toughen up, but that level of stress just isn't enjoyable for a long period of time.
Anyone else understand the feeling?
You'll take your Vita version and you'll like it boyo
Nah man cause my genitals are exterior.
I found this guy's skulls in a secret room, all 3 of them.
Can he still drop them? I killed him once but he didn't drop one of the trinkets.
>Dismas searchs a sarcophagus only to find his own head in it
You're not alone. I'm not a fan of people dying, but you have to brave through it and live for the crits.
>external sexual organs are exteriot
Good to know user
>when your Reynauld dies
man
i'm taking a break
I've heard that you should build teams specific for each dungeon, how many traits should I keep for my team?
15%+ damage against the enemy type prominent in the dungeon and 20% scouting? Maybe the crit and 10% damage bonus too?
Warrens is beast, Cove is eldritch, Ruins is unholy, Weald is mankind I think? With mankind appearing in most dungeons too? What appears in the Darkest Dungeon?
I'm severely dissapointed in the quality of heroes that get sent my way, you'd think they could stand a bit more of stress than getting stabbed by a few skeles
Don't give up user
sounds like a good idea on paper but this game doesn't like you keeping favorites around
you'll try for a boss one time and get wiped, unless you got reserves tho but the time to get all of that ready is crazy
>not the moon cloaks
10 dodge and 15 protection for only 10% more stress?
Just get dudes who are good at scouting in low light like the Houndmaster with Whistle and you're good to go.
they're new to this anyway, I bet half of them got stressed halfway through the stage coach trip
They sent us a bunch of thinskinned faggy nu-Sup Forums babies who cry when they drink some alcohol.
Can't even handle their skelly-wine.
jesus christ it's like the 18 year olds who thought signing up to storm the beaches on D-day was a good idea
What are some good mods for the game
Does anyone know how to get the musketeer to show up as a non-backer? I have the hero folder but just dropping that in the right place doesn't do anything. Is there a file I have to edit to enable her?
4 Crusaders
Why the fuck does caretaker need to take up spots in the goddamn destress areas you're not the one getting skele splashed with wine you whiner
he's cleaning user, place won't take care of itself.
>I've heard that you should build teams specific for each dungeon, how many traits should I keep for my team?
Positive traits aren't dealbreakers, don't worry about those. Be a bit concerned with negative traits for specific things like a dark team but otherwise specific dungeon shit should be mostly about class rather than worrying about traits. If you have a crusader with a bonus to undead cool but if you have a houndmaster with a bonus to undead don't let that alone convince you to bring him to undead burg instead of a crusader.
It's not nessesary but it helps
Having eldritch hater and a eldritch +dam on a occulitist in the weald reks those faggot marking spore dudes.
You build your team for specific dungeons in a broader sense.
Shit like Crusader for Ruins, don't bring bleeders. Bring plague and backrow damagem bleed removal for Cove, etc.
Well if you speak to him like you post about him I certainly don't blame him you negative nancy.
Still haven't gotten that goblet trinket.
>cleaning
>"my liege your face and the bottles are mixing into one lol"
cleaning the bottom of the bottle as usual
Sorta wish the stagecoach would get me new caretakers
Have some hero stuff, senpai
>Leper and Abomination both have lower disease resistance than Crusader and Man at Arms, be wary of using them in The Warrens
>Antiquarian's Protect Me! can consecutively stack on one hero for exrteme PROT and DODGE bonuses
>Use medicinal herbs to remove debuffs gained from a move, like Finale or Break Through debuffs
>The best way to heal stress at camps is with Crusader and Jester's camping skills, specifically Zealous Speech and Turn Back Time
>Stand Tall (Crusader) will remove the Death's Door debuff from a target
>The Bounty Hunter's mark is the weakest, generally speaking the Arbalest has the best marking ability and use of marked bonus damage
>Occultist's damage debuff hex is best utilized in boss fights, it can be useful for Inchoate Flesh against the pig butts and during The Prophet to allow you to destroy the pews for extra money
>Take note that Flashing Daggers will reduce bleed resist, but the Grave Robber does not actually cause bleed herself - while Open Vein will do both simultaneously
>Bellow is incredibly accurate and hits all four ranks, it will dispose of low health stragglers on the MaA's turn
>Crusader and Vestal are capable of restoring torchlight
>Use Judgement to heal your Vestal, as it acts as a heal that can crit while also dealing moderate damage to an unfortunate target
>A Highwayman or Jester trapped by the Anchorman can spam Point Blank Shot and Finale without consequence of movement
>For low torchlight or parties that move around a lot, you can bring a Crusader with Holy Lance to maintain a tank
>The majority of enemies found within The Warrens are counted as human, which is useful for the Bounty Hunter
RIP Dismas, bled out to a crit from one of the mooks after I killed Vvulf, but before I realized I could have just retreated and beaten the mission anyways.
