Was 2016 a good year for PC gaming Sup Forums? Did you enjoy yourself?

It was alright
If I missed anything/left off anything good on this image please let me know
Honestly underwhelming. Nothing interesting like a portal or anything like that.
It was quite the stale pc year.
It was a pretty good year for gaming overall, 2017 will be 5 times better though
>like a portal
pleb
there are much more innovative and quality games in that pic than portal.
None of those games will be remembered as vividly as portal and none of them are of as high quality as portal.
Stop posting user, you have shit taste.
>Resident Evil 7
>Tales of Berseria
>Nier Automata
>Tokyo Xanadu
>Disgaea 2
>Rain World
>Zero Escape: The Nonary Games
>Ultra Despair Girls
>Death's Gambit
>Atelier Sophie
>Caladrius Blaze
Its starting out wonderfully
I played Xanadu Next like 7 years ago.
Fantastic year for PC, shit for consoles.
Good thing I'm PC + Nintendo idort. Rabi Ribi, Terraria updates, Civ 6, and God Eater 2 were enough to while away the time. And I had enough time to replay some of my older Wii U games, like W101, Pikmin 3, and Tropical Freeze.
Also to add to that list
Kingdom Hearts 2.8
Gravity Rush 2
Yakuza 0
Fat Extella
Digimon World Next Order
Dynasty Warriors God Seeker
Miku Project Diva Future Tone
Then Nioh in Febuary my god I can't wait for that
That image is for Steam releases. Steins;Gate also already came out before 2016 but it only got put on Steam a while later.
Don't forget Zelda.
Missing Shadow Tactics user, stealth game set in feudal Japan.
Zelda is March I believe which is great because:
Nier Automata
Atelier Firis
Horizon Zero Dawn
and
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix
Zelda and Horizon will dominate that month for me, I predict lots of hours of gameplay from both.
I was aiming for strictly Steam releases but if we're talking about just video games for next year in general there's a shitload along with what you posted.
>Ace Combat 7
>Ni No Kuni II
>Dragon Quest XI
>I was aiming for strictly Steam releases
May I ask why? All of the games you mentioned are coming out on console too and a lot of have already been released on them like Disgaea, Xandu, Dganronpa Ultra Despair girls, Atelier Sophie, Nonary collection and Caladrius Blaze
This might as well be a console thread in all honesty, not sure why Steam has relevance considering almost all of them are ports from consoles lmfao
For one I wanted to point out that despite having a lot of shovelware releases that the year was still pretty great for games released on PC (and more specifically Steam, as I left off titles like Recore and Overwatch). A lot of people shitpost and complain about how shit Steam is getting due to a lack of quality control.
Also you're mistaken about Tokyo Xanadu; it hasn't been released on anything in the West as of yet. Unfortunate its taking so long for a release, really.
Ah okay I getcha. I wanted to get Xandu on Vita but they are skipping it for PC which sucks but I'll be getting that on PC
Its coming out on Vita and PC, actually.
Its the PS4 one that isn't announced for a Western release.

This. Not a horrible year but underwhelming.
No Man's Sky ruined it for me. Also Fallout 4 was meh. Favourite game of the year is Overwatch I don't care what Sup Forums thinks. It's fun and it can be competitive if you want.
Day of Infamy and Civ VI were pretty good desu
Was there anyone that actually liked No Man's Sky?
stop being a valve drone
You put HAYDEE on, so that's a minus.
...
Oh great, thats good to know. I was almost certain they skipped it for some reason I remeber reading about something similar.
Haydee is actually good though. Its fun exploring and solving puzzles
Yeah. I mean Valve games are good but there are better games
S'okay, I spent most of it playing old games and rereleases but that's fine in lieu of decent new game.
Turok rerelease just got a neat editor and it's pretty fucking good.
Why isn't Firewatch on that list? It was a far better game than most of those.
deus ex son
>all that garbage weeb shit
kys
b a i t
Stellaris, Xcom 2 and Doom was all I needed from 2016, rest is a waste of time
Holy shit you almost got me
How come no one ever gets triggered by Western games, but people post shitposts like this all the time?
what is stelarris anyway? looks like some indie shit
See this is the problem with Sup Forums. You'll reply to bait just to prove that you're above replying to bait, which just further clogs up the thread and draws attention to shitposts.
>multiplats and console ports
So that's what PC master race is proud of? Playing games that everyone has except on a smaller screen?
Street Fighter 5
It seems like a dumping ground for console ports yeah. I personally don't understand how anyone could be proud of it unless they were suffering from a rather extreme case of buyers remorse.
I mean sure at some point you have to wipe the feces from your eyes and realize somebody is shovelling shit at you but it seems some peoples reaction is to open their mouths wider. Do some people enjoy suffering? Is this secret cult of masochism I'm not aware of? I don't understand it.
>4 good games
>3 of them multiplats
>1 short indie game
not exactly a great year for PC
>tfw fell for the pc meme
Not sure if it counts due to early access but
Battlerite and factorio were easily my game of the years
Are you arguing for or against pcs? Because if it's multiplat, I want it on pc in almost every situation, especially shooters?
Its pleasant knowing that support will never die; that these games will be forever playable on this same platform, not having to switch platforms to play newer games and all that. Additionally, it offers a lot more control over how a lot of these games look and run. I don't understand how this is difficult for people to get. Not to mention a lot of these games are "exclusive" to particular platforms not sharing between each other. Quantum Break is on Xbox One and PC. Megadimension Neptunia VII is on PS4 and PC. One platform for both.
Its not perfect but I don't see why people think this looks poor. Plus there are still some PC-centric games on there too.
In addition to this, the control scheme choice helps me a lot. I'd play my Xbox 1 at all if it would support keyboard and mouse.
But it doesn't so I don't play any shooters on it
Which means I own 0 games for it right now desu cause halo and destiny suck
>played
DOOM
>planning on playing
darkest dungeon
ds3
kind of sad that almost all of that is weebshit
youre retarded, only game id put in the same league as portal on that list is DOOM, and only because it breathed new life in the fps genre as a whole
>90% multiplats and indie garbage with a few good strategy games mixed in
So this is the power of the PC master race.
>have the option to choose between playing a game on console or pc
>choose console
?
Quantum Breaker is a 6 hour 5/10 game with shit graphics and 50% of the 6 hour game time are literal cutscenes too.
This is what I mean by opening ones mouth wider to receive a shoveling of shit. As long as PC users get to eat shit, apparently it's good.
This, i dont get why people get triggered by console games. Why the fuck would I play a console game on a console if it's on PC? Especially any FPS, I'd rather kill myself than play an FPS on a gamepad.
>Plus there are still some PC-centric games on there too.
You can tell it's padding though, he doesn't really play PC games and is most interested in console ports while simultaneously missing out on their full libraries which is why it's a cuck move. He gets gratification through self-depreciation by having people tell him his platform is shit and made up of shitty console ports. I'm almost 100% sure he enjoys the abuse.
It is what the Master of Orion Remake failed to be, a proper Space 4x
i played das 3
path of exile
doom
titanfall 2
gungeon
some other AAA games i forgot about that were likely shit
Funny that you mention that since most of the best selling games on consoles are mostly multiplats that play better on pc like witcher 3.
These are the same people that also pay for garbage peer to peer online just to access games like battlefield online like cucks.
>PC port
Game developed for console and ported to PC
>Console port
Game developed for PC and ported to console
Stop using incorrect definitions you retards.
because there's no point in buying a entire other platform just to play ports of console games at better fps. If you're someone who's into console games to begin with console offer an arguably superior selection.
Instead of building a fucking PC to play handheld games, you just buy the handheld and play all the other shit games it offers that aren't on PC which pretty much completely eliminates the need for a PC all together. It's an irrelevant machine with no games.
>the pic
The only game I'd play on that shit list is DOOM. And I'd try Lego SW and Dishonored, nothing else.
Only casuals play games on lcd tvs, the input lag is horrendous. Lcd monitors arent perfect but with high refresh rates the experience is a lot better.
>PC Gaming 2016
>All that weebshit and console ports/multiplats
>No Total Warhammer, Spacehulk, Divinity Original Sin 2, Cossacks 3, Oriental Empires, Ashes of the Singularity Escalation, Tyranny, Killing Floor 2(considering console users cant play harder than the easiest difficulty may as well be exclusive), Warhammer 40,000 : Eternal Crusade, Atlas Reactor
This board literally only knows the really popular stuff doesnt it? 2016 wasn't the most amazing year in games, and hardly any of the games listed are perfect, but christ you faggots don't even try.
you're on Sup Forums yet you don't seem to care about experiencing the vidyas the best way you can
hint : its not on consoles
I would consider better FPS a valid reason. I want to play PS4 and Xbone games, but the PS4 and Xbone are shit hardware with horrible performance issues on any game besides DOOM and Titanfall 2. I dont give a shit about "muh real PC gaymes" I just want to play games that dont look like a fucking slideshow.
The year was even more pathetic as usual for PCgaming.
PCgaming truy is on it´s deathbed.
Thank god i switched to Playstation.
I only played Ghost of a Tale in 2016 because I was busy with a lot of real life stuff. It's a good game for what it is.
>want to be play xbone games like scalebound and forza
>want to play wii u games too
>want to play crpgs like tyranny and strat games like civ and total war
>kind of want to play older games at better resolution and graphics
Then you'd get a pc. We all know it would run shit better and you can skip the online fee. Even if you whined about paying 600 dollars for an entry build you can pirate games until you offset it since denuvo gets torn apart 4-6 months later and plenty of devs don't use it.
For 600 bucks you could skip the shit performance and restrictions of consoles.
You wouldn't be begging devs to fucking make older games run better and patch it like on the ps4 pro. Witcher 3 still hasn't gotten patched and plenty of other 1080p games are locked at 30 fps with no changes in visuals. Not to mention they don't allow you to run older games at all taking advantage of the increased power. Dragon's dogma for example can't run on ps4 at all to take advantage of the hardware. Can't even be streamed from ps now.
Also considering most ports on consoles run like shit vs similar pc hardware, I'd say devs don't get a shit about performance on consoles as well.
i got a pc because
>better graphics
>better framerates
>better customizability for many games
>mods, which can basically make a game with potential amazing, like New Vegas or oblivion, or make an old game more playable, like morrowind
>access to all multiplats, and i get almost all the old ones for -75%
>easy access to the internet at the same place you play your games
>can use a controller for third person games and racing games and switch to kb+m for fps
>easier to troubleshoot if you know what youre doing in the game files
that being said, after years of not owning a console ill probably pick up a Switch just for the new Zelda (never played a zelda but damn botw looks good) and my brother recently got a ps4 so im covered there for all the new exclusives, mainly looking at RDR2, nioh, and ill finally get to play bloodborne
blog over, but just some insight
and i totally forgot
>no paying for online
>access to all RTS and CRPG games
>mountain blade
It was an okay year, some of it I plan to pick up at a later date.
>Realize the only type of games that utilize your GPU are Ubisoft and EA multiplats
>Realize the entire PC gaming market revolve around facebook tier games
>Realize PC gaming relies on consoles while missing out on their best games
>Get heaps mad at consoles and realize PC is a meme that tricks you into spending thousands of dollars on hardware just to have more fps and lights in the draw distance
>Run to Sup Forums to damage control and shit ontop of consoles
>Rinse and repeat.
No I'm not baiting. I'm wondering why a list that has Valhalla, Steins Gate and Corpse Party doesn't have Firewatch. The person obvioulsy likes walking sims, so is it just that Firewatch was more known and anti shilled on Sup Forums so they dislike it?
>pirated Vallhalla
Man, you are less than dirt. You plan to buy two versions now right?
You should check out Danganronpa 1 and 2.
Looks like a bunch of ports to me
PC doesn't have a single worthwhile exclusive that warrants a build that costs more than $100. And no, running shitty multiplats at better fps is not worth missing out on games like Bloodborne. Paying thousands of dollars to max shitty multiplats is the fucking antithesis of PC gaming and is exactly what's killing the platform and allowing it's own genres and exclusives to die.
Nope, I found it boring and tedious, the story never grabbed me, so I didn't buy it.
Notice it's a trend with the stuff I pirated, they're all sort of shallow or specific experiences that wont appeal to everyone. Civ is there too because it offers fuck all over Civ V so I'll wait for the super ultimate complete edition that has the 30 DLCs and actually has something new then.
I only played 3 games that actually released in 2016 but I had a good time. Hugeass backlog as well so I don't really even pay too much attention to most stuff coming out.
Mostly I just enjoy playing a bit older games more.
Oh shit, I completely blanked over Danganronpa in the list, yeah I own them too.
>3/4 of that is weeb shit or old console ports
PC needs NEW console ports. It needs high tier older console ports like Bayonetta or Red Dead Redemption.
I really hope CAVE ports more games.
The year Steam was finally drowned in indie shit
I can at least agree with Civ VI.
>Bloodborne
>Good
Kill yourself shill
>multiplats and ports
LOL
Well there is the Haydee which has some elements from Portal. Also from Dead Space and Mirror's Edge.
Are you fucking serious? How long have you been here?
People here rip on "western garbage" all the time
There are better games than portal in steam alone. Most of those games cuck like you don't play because the only games you know of come from pewdi and his goons.
90% of that list is ports
5% of that list is multiplat
remaining 5% is shovelware
PCMUSTARD RACE WINS AGAIN!!!
How the heck did you forget Civ VI?
That was a huge release this year for PC
Other games could be no mans sky, Firewatch?
I do not know if you are looking for more exclusive games though
Other than that, great list friend
>Pirated Quantum Break
I wouldnt even waste my hard drive space on that garbage.
I hope so too but degica fucked up
There's still weird slowdown in black label
I want to see ibara and ibara kuro
Games I enjoyed in 2016
>X com 2
>TW:Warhammer
>Shadow Tactics
>Hitman
>Dark Souls 3
>Dude Sex
Eh good year I guess
I have 3.5TB of HDD space, but even then I agree after trying it out.
Looking at this list, I have not played literally ANY of those games. Even owning them I just got stardew valley during the steam sale
Man I really tried to get through that backlog and it is still growing...
DivOS2 didn't come out in 2016 retard
>not worth missing out on games like Bloodborne
My fucking sides. If you think Bloodborne was worth spending 450 dollars on then you are rationalizing your poor purchase like fuck.
I mean yeah NOW you could get a PS4 for some 100 dollars and Bloodborne in the bargain bin used for like 10, but that's still way too much.
Besides, as you said, you could better spend that money on a cheapo 100 dollar PC which will surely run way better games like Total War or the new Mountain Blade.
Left to right, up then down.
dont care
great
waiting for the expansion
don't care
don't care
good but ran like ass
don't care
don't care
don't care
looks good but not enough to care
don't care
don't care
don't care
neps are just a fucking weeb meme
don't care
don't care
don't care
don't care
etc.
See where i'm going with this? 2016 was shit. The whole fucking year had like 5 interesting games, one of which was a port of a 4 year old console exclusive and one was a fucking expansion to the best game since DA:O. That's it. Unless we get a surprise release of REmake2 and it's exactly like the original just with better graphics, i don't see 2017 being any better.
