How's that factory coming along?
How's that factory coming along?
is no one playing this great game? Sup Forums sure has shit taste
It's not, I'm waiting for new content patch.
>beat game
>that was fun
>start new game later
>oh every run is gonna be pretty much the same
>delet game
it will come soon, until then you got hundreds of mods. the new research mechanic is already available in mod form
install bobs and angels nods and try again. this will keep you occupied. or do no crafting challenge. but best of all play MP with friends
>it will come soon, until then
Until then I have other things to do and games to play.
It's waiting until the game goes on sale.
They repeatedly said the game wont go on sale for the forseeable future. You'll be waiting for a good while.
just pirate it
I've done a factory that launched about 50 rockets, and then stopped caring. My next goal was 1TJ accumulator capacity. It now has a huge wall with 3 rows of laser turrets behind it and I don't know what to do anymore.
That's when I started working on a factory that doesn't use bots, laser turrets or solar. I want an unholy abomination that burns massive amounts of solid fuel but I'm not sure what to produce, once science is done.
I hope the unlimited research update comes sooner than later.
this is the map view of my factory
...
...
produce ammo, turrets , and walls . keep pushing out that wall . You'll need away to get around so more railway and trains carrying ammo.
Or just install orbital cannon mod and nuke everything for shits and giggles .
I am currently doing a bob and angel mods run on hell world with advance biter AI mod and its hard. quite the challenge , maybe you should try
...
Just curious - how long did that take?
274 hours
Look at the map view of my factory. It's maxed zoomed out. Trains are delivering repair packs, spare wall, etc. to every wall segment.
Everything is connected by train.
I don't know what to do in this save anymore.
With this save? Dunno, try a new run with mods.
any mods you can recommend?
...
amazing game
played like 30 hours straight but since I stopped I never started again.
I still love it
...
...
...
I started playing yesterday. About 10 hours in so far and I love it. I'm trying to get my first train running and being useful.
I got tons. Bobs mod is pretty much a staple mod so its highly recommended. Angels mod is great if you want more challenge, those two are probably the most popular mods around.
From here on its pretty much whatever tickles your fancy, just go to mods.factorio.com
Heres some good quality of life mods:Auto deconstruct (automatically flag empty miners to be removed etc.)
Auto-research that will automatically assign research for you rather than selecting it manually every time.
Bottleneck is great mod to see bottlenecks in your factory to improve efficiency.
FARL is a must if you're building large train networks.
Foreman is great for blueprint management.
Rampant AI will improve enemy AI making them more challenging.
Upgrade Planner is another great improvement, allows you to easily designate upgrading of belts, machines etc.
YARM is great for outpost management. it will basically give you a little UI window in the corner telling you how much resource you have left in the resource patch and an estimate of how long until its empty.
UPS up is great if your megabase is having performance issues.
expanding has gotten really tedious since the bases are so tightly together now and fuckhuge
messed that screenshot up somehow...
thanks for the list
especially ups up sounds interesting since in the 40 fps range with the current factory.
autosave also takes a really long time now since the safe file is already bout 90mb big.
I played a while ago with RSO spawning single infinite tiles of the resources but with another mod that gave researchable tiers of new miners to make up for the slow mining. Made branching out to acquire new resource points more important because of how slow mining started out.
It was fun new way to play but now I can't find another up to date drill mod as the other one. Anyone have any ideas?
Update it yourself maybe?
It's easy enough to do, the game has complete documentation and it's just lua.
It might just be as easy as changing the version number in the file so it lets you load it.
>loop
why? T intersection is far superior.
there are a few mods that could help with save file. Stumps be gone and declutterer (or something similar) but I think UPS-up also does the same thing as those two, not sure.
I've seen a few drill mods but I never used them myself so cant really comment on them, check the mod portal.I use Bobs mod which has multiple drills (Mk 1 to Mk5, with 2 miner variety: Basic and large area) but it also adds tons of other new stuff so its more than you asked for.
Had a quick check, there's at least 3 mods for what you are looking for that are updated for 0.14
mods.factorio.com
mods.factorio.com
mods.factorio.com
What's the problem, never used google before?
Waiting on Nuclear update, new Science and unlimited Research to start a new vanilla factory.
Already got like 500h+ in the game and replayed it many times with different mods and personal challenges, so i don't mind a break till next patch.
No I'm just a retard. I'll check em out, thank you.
Sub-par 3D Factorio coming in.
Already charged the OET once.
Don't bother buying it, it's tedious, and the developer is almost as much of a manchild than DSP
Is this infinifactory?
Tfw not autistic enough to be good at Factorio
Nah, it's Fortress Craft Evolved, ie: Factorio but in 3D and not as fun.
Mine shit, process shit, bugs come flying at you, shoot bugs down with turrets and missiles. Build more shit, process faster, shoot down bigger bugs etc
End game for non-DLC is charging that big dildo structure. That setup takes about 6 hours to charge, most of it was AFK because I was too bored by that point and just wanted the Achievement.
It's the first factory I built that made use of trains. Loops are the noob stuff that I relied on.
>factorio in 3d
>not a minecraft modpack
Factorio was inspired by tekkit, and and swear fortresscraft started out as a minecraft mod as well.
bob's mods fagit.
It was built in Unity, which you can really tell with the feel (and the lag) of the game.
Note: FortressCraft and FortressCraft Evolved are 2 completely different games. The latter being autism automation, and the former being a "Let's try and rip off Minecraft"
Autism doesn't help with factorio at all.
If you want everything lined up and have all ratios be perfect, you are just wasting time.
What you really need to enjoy factorio is delusions of grandeure.
No, I mean fortresscraft was a mod, then the creator went standalone with it.
Glad to see he isn't straight up ripping off minecraft anymore.
add landfiller mod to it, its a little thing that helps a lot, especially useful to get out that fucking puddle out of the way fucking everything up
landfill is in the game already
20 stone = 1 tile of landfill
Why cant all the good minecraft tech/magic modders make a good game
factorio is comfy tho
The few actually good ones get actual jobs
waiting for 0.15
then will look at mods again and maybe finally do a bobangel run
What should I expect if I get this game? Cousin played it and claimed it was fun but I never saw the appeal in it. Checked out a few streams for the gameplay and it seemed like only the "autist" streamers played it. (Sevadus, GiantWaffle and alike)
Autism, obviously.
There's a demo out so just download it.
expect mind autism
or extreme autism with mods
>tfw build first factory surrounded by walls and auto reloading gun turrets.
COMFIEST FEELING.
How would you even turn something like Thaumcraft into a fun and engaging game?
mild autism*
thanks phone
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you wait for release. I want to get bored of the complete game, thanks.
No, that's why you stop playing like a retard and download mods.
Are you saying you'd unironically play vanilla minecraft?
expect a good game where you colonize a new planet by stripping it off its resources, building factories, polluting the shit out of it and exterminating the natives. you win the game by building all the infrastructure needed to launch build and ICBMs from the base and secure the total destruction of the alien scum
this game is horrible for autists/OCD people because theres too many things that will go wrong forcing them to restart the entire map.
Do you not understand the difference between memetic and non-memetic autism?
>delusions of grandeure.
Asperger's is Autism moron
I did for many hundreds of hours. I'm not a fan of mods because they give you so many options and limit the natural fun that you get from doing something amazing with limitations of a vanilla game.
Bots were a mistake.
I work in a factory. It's going to shit but at least I can poop 3 hours a day and shitpost for $17 an hour. Today is time and a half.
Then you should stop installing shit, redundant, or overpowered mods then.
Mod that removes logibots and forces you to only use trains when
Are you telling me how to have fun?
I'm telling you how to engineer fun
It's a science.
Australia is becoming Factorio now. Robots are taking over the mining industry, one mine doesn't have any humans working there other than for maintenance of robots. From dirt to cargo ship, everything is automated.
it really depends on the mod. if you do a playthrough with the no crafting mod it makes regular achievements in vanilla that much better.
I cant live without bots. I'm sorry but ever since that pocket bots mod I just couldn't go back to manually building the initial furnace area.
its been out for a while now.
mods.factorio.com
even Bob's has a bunch of OP shit like sniper turrets and lategame modules
honestly Factorio is two games
pre-bots it's "how do I build this thing"
post-buts it's "fuck I need more resources again"
>embrace the belt
>not embrace the train
>Dev said he will never put the game on sale
kill me
Pirate then, though it is well worth the price and you should feel like an ass for doing it.
I played this a bit ages ago and don't really know how to play.
I'm going to start now and launch a rocket.
What map settings are best?
>pre-bots it's "how do I build this thing"
meh. once you've got several hundred hours under your belt you pretty much know the optimal ratio and construction blueprint so theres not much effort in doing that. its more of a chore to manually build the layout repeatedly.
how will you move things from the train station to the factories? You could do "cities" build, a which imports raw resources by train and creates only one good, which export via train.
he didnt say never, he said in the forseeable future. it will probably go on sale after it leaves early access.
He doesn't understand that volume of sales during a sale compensates for reduced price shit-ton-fold?
it's in early access, it shouldn't be discounted
>honestly Factorio is two games
>pre-bots it's "how do I build this thing"
>post-buts it's "fuck I need more resources again"
There's a post bot part that many miss, you return back to 3-colored belts and use T3 speed module beacon lines on T3 productivity assemblers.
Their effect is exponential based the length of a production chain.
It shouldn't be sold in the first place, if you want to go that road.
It's not about that, it's about his poor choice in branding.
It shows he loves belts more than train
>beat game
>that was fun
>I am still bad though
>google.com/how2gitgud
>I am still bad though
>continue playing to try and git gud with practice
>I am still bad though
>cycle repeats
Once you grow up you'll realize there is no should.
>What map settings are best?
define "best"
if you want the easier, go very rich, high frequency resources and low frequency enemy bases with small water deposits and semi-low frequency. and large starting zone. turn on peaceful mode for baby mode.
if you want maximum fun you go no starting zone, frequent enemies and very low frequency resources which will force you to push out and build far flung mining outposts. the is normal.
ridiculous. everybody loves train more than anything else.
>building modules
>not part of 'fuck I need more resources again'
Even T1 modules are painfully slow to make until you get more, and T3 is just a nightmare. Blue Circuits just gobble up Red and Green Circuits like no tomorrow.
How so?
I guess a balance between the two?
I don't want it to be a sandbox with no threat but I don't want it to be frustratingly difficult just to survive.
Good for trains
>low uncommon resources
>big
>pretty rich
Watched Destiny play it on his stream for a while, but it looks way too autistic for my taste.
Fun fact: only 25% of steam playerbase triggered a biter attack from pollution.
You can nearly quadruple your resource efficiency with T3 modules on certain products.
Default settings are perfectly fine.
>that bike lane
Fucking shitters don't even remove xeno
for your first playthrough, that is. if you're going for a megabase or achievements then nah
All varieties of should are irrelevant nomenclature used with intent to subvert to ones own delusion as opposed that of others.
I usually have issues with throughput rather than resources. I produce enough at the start of the belt to completely flood even a blue belt, but by the end of the bus its practically empty and injecting mid-way through the bus is just ugly, especially when it requires a smelting area.
Steam only tracks vanilla games, not many people play pure vanilla.
Average on all, but the train layout is more fun probably
>by the end of the bus its practically empty
Above is really where it hurts. Once you start improving efficiency where you want it (not necessarily need it), then you need to rework down the rest of the line because your throughput gets all kinds of fucked.
put the modder in locked room with a computer, with infinite supplies of food and water and energy drinks, and tell him he wont get out until he ditches minecraft and makes it a standalone
Does steam count people who have bought the game but never even played it? Cause I have a lot of games like that from sales.
yes. although its not really applicable here since this game was never on sale or bundle.
