Games that are NOT meant to be played on the hardest difficulty

Games that are NOT meant to be played on the hardest difficulty

all halo games

Heroic is the objectively correct difficulty to play at.

How is this game on the Gamecube?

Why not? The harsher the consequences, the more thrilling the stealth.

Playing through Halo on Legendary is sex.

Never understood this. Normal is also difficult enough, Legendary is just dying and dying and dying and after 5 hours you managed to succeed the first level. Sorry, but I want have fun and a decent difficulty, not a absurd unfair difficulty were you must have more luck than skill.

i think graphics are somewhat diminished, i'm on PC

there's 3 difficulties. on the hardest, Expert, enemies will see you unless you are in total 100% darkness, even if they only see your finger peeking out from behind a wall 100 feet away. there are several times the game wants you to be able to take advantage of something, like there's a steam room where the guards talking say visibility is low and that thermal goggles will help, but they will still see you anyway.

also this happened to me multiple times, but enemies and cameras can literally see you through walls and closed doors

expert is not meant to be played on

Dude, you suck. My 67 year old dad plays Halo on normal.

playing trough halo on legendary is fun because it's so ridicilous that enemies can take far too much damage and do far too much damage compared to you that the typical aggressive playing doesn't really work on them. it's not impossible but can't really blame anyone who decides to drop it on legendary.

iirc the console version of splinter cell is actually quite different.
the areas are a lot smaller, and divided by more loading screens, but this is good because you can't quicksave and you don't lose much progress if you die because the level is smaller

Doom

No, I wouldn't say "all" Halo games... For instance, the first one was easy as pie. But Halo 2? Fucking Christ ALMIGHTY that shit was broke beyond repair!

This better fucking be bait because Halo legendary is in no way difficult or frustrating. Only real hard parts ever were jackal snipers and even then you just have to be extremely cautious to kill them.

CoD games on veteran are what had shit tier hard modes that were cheap and unfair.

i love when games have difficulties that are completely unfair for the sake of it. when they have co-op, they're even better.

Maybe it's a bug on your version, I've finished it on expert and never had too much problems. I never felt the guards were superhuman, or if they were it was in order to compensate for the fact that humans are smarter than vidya AI.

...

it got so bad that i literally quit the game and started googling the problem and trying to find a patch, but i was already on the latest version

also the game AI is deliberately fucking with me. there are times when i'd quicksave before an encounter, advance, a guard would turn around out of nowhere and spot me, i'd quickload and wait in the shadows for like a minute and the guard would never turn around, then i'd advance and he'd turn around

FUCK EXPERT

Actually, the game is meant to be played on the highest difficulty. Easy is balanced so that its actually harder.

I've had an easier time with COD on veteran than halo on legendary.

I've beaten this game multiple times on the hardest difficulty, even did an ironman once. git gud

What's unfair about CT in expert mode?

You are clearly lying. Halo gives a generous amount of health even on legendary mode. In CoD you can die nearly instantly when you pop out of cover on veteran.

As I said only jackals were ever hard and I guess maybe the first level since they start you with shit weapons and put you in shit rooms to fight many enemies at once. Games were easy as piss.

Depends on what CoD and Halo we are talking about. For CoD, MW1 and WaW were hell, but ones after that weren't really that hard for me, I remember completing MW2 without getting stuck on anything that badly.

Halo 2 is pure hell on legendary, but I don't think that other ones were really *that* hard. 4 was probably the hardest after it, but that was mainly just because Prometheans in it are so cheesy.

In Stalker the difficulty level affects the accuracy of the AI's weapons but it also applies to the player, so you're actually better off playing on master.

I tend to avoid playing 1st person shooters on the hardest difficulty. Just means less health and even harsher autoaim by the AI.

Nier just turns all enemies into gigantic damage sponges and is not even remotely fun to play.

Deadly Premonition at least on the part of the developer who didn't want combat sections in at all and just had one difficulty (Easy) for every version of the game other than the 360 version.

read the thread

Goddamn people are falling for the most obvious bait these days.
Get the fuck out of here stalker

The most unfair thing about the AI in Chaos Theory is how they're randomly able to dodge bullets even when they're not aware of you, but that happens on every difficulty level.

I should have realized this. What CoD did you play user? Because I'm going off CoD 3, MW, WaW, Blops when I said

Hardest mode is some next level bullshit that i doubt was tested

There's this guy on Youtube who reviews a lot of first person games (FPS, mainly), considers himself not casual yet he complained about not being able to quicksave on a console game.(Black).

Are PCucks this used to babby mode that anything else sends them into a fit? I thought they were supposed to be 1337?

Most of my experience has been with MW 2 and Halo 3.

Maybe that particular guard is just scripted to turn around when you get near

i guess you didn't read this part

>enemies and cameras can literally see you through walls and closed doors

>quicksave before an encounter, advance, a guard would turn around out of nowhere and spot me, i'd quickload and wait in the shadows for like a minute and the guard would never turn around, then i'd advance and he'd turn around

This, normal is too easy but legendary kills the fun and promotes playing like a boring cunt

actually, this happened several different times. totally made me not feel bad about savescumming (which i wasn't doing until the game forced me to)

any game where difficulty= enemy health

I've played Chaos Theory a ton and I'm even replaying it now and I've never had issues with psychic guards or buggy patrols even on expert.

IIRC, only the ps2 version is like this. The Xbox version is exactly like the PC version (gameplay wise)

whenever I see this cover art, I think of modding an xbox

i'm playing it rn. i'm at the japanese bathhouse

If you're talking about the psychic guards that attempt to ambush you, they're that bad on all difficulty levels.

We will never forget the grenade rains of ww2 comrade

I don't remember expert being that hard. Yes they only don't see you in 100% darkness but the guards still use the "realistic" detection system, meaning they don't go 100% alert if they see you from afar. And you can hack computer wireless.

Actually I spent quite a lot of time trying to do different things on the levels and while expert is obviously not for fun and games there are plenty of side routes and tricks to avoid guards.

The only part I remember is terrible even on lower difficulty is the engine room(?), dont remember exactly but right before you pull a gun on a guy on the roof and you can decice if you let him live. That is the only part in the game I couldn't manage to 0 stat (0 for every statistic, not using anything but the recharging emp pistol, not killing / knocking out anyone etc)

Spec ops the line on Fubar is just straight up bullshit on some parts

just now, i was going up against the commandos, not being detected, when i'm defusing the 2nd bomb, shetland talks to me and before my defusing animation is over, a commando (that i can't even see) shoots and kills me.

not only can you be seen from behind walls and closed doors, but you can also be killed

>there are plenty of side routes and tricks to avoid guards
this is what i mean, the "tricks" are broken on expert so you have to just play in a makeshift way and hope you can glitch the AI before the AI glitches you

also i love to do 0 stat runs in stealth games (Thief 2 is probably the best), but it's impossible in chaos theory, plus the game encourages you to do interrogations by giving you cool dialogue and mission info. some missions i did 0 stat, others killing everyone, others knocking everyone out, but straight up expert is just broken

yeah but finally training your hands to get it done feels good as fuck. That was an excruciatingly and anger fun time

>oy m8
>lets go sneak around
>hope no one notices my brightly lit goggles!
