Divinity: Original Sin

Should I play Classic or Enhanced Edition? I read they fucked up story somehow in the latter.

You can't fuck up what's not there.

Just play the enhanced edition.

What are the differences between the two?

From what I understand enhanced fixes a lot of broken builds from what i understand. But some people really liked the broken builds.

Only ever played EE but it was a rad game

Played halfway through both and liked EE a bit better, the newly added stuff is pretty cool. Plus you can dual wield magic wands for crazy damage output.

Is this game good? Had a lot of fun with Pillars of Eternity and got recommended this one by Steam. Can someone redpill me about the classes?

You do realize you look like a beta orbiter right now, right? You're probably a cuck, too.

There are no classes, you can mix and match skills on every character

Fuck i said "from what I understand" twice. Sorry everyone.

On the off chance you're playing a ranger, theyre much much worse in the EE but still extremely viable. Just buy every arrowhead and elemental arrow you can find and use them. I was way too conservative with using my arrows i hoarded. Also rangers get better later in the game, skeletons in the early game resist poison and piercing damage. I'm mostly just bumping because i really like this game.

What does this even mean?

The combat in this game is just so addictive, I wish it had an infinite arena mode of sorts.

It's the new forced meme

When me and my friend cooped the game, Bairdotr was easily the one with most kills.
Those fucking bouncy arrows that massacred everything towards the end of each fight was OP and satisfying like crazy.

EE is no fun allowed version with better story and voice acting.

>gameplay

It's fun, challenging in places and filled with variation for you to create. With a 4 player mod, you can custom make a party for max enjoyment. The game has a real ultima feel to the world which adds a lot of interactivity. You can for example, cook your own food or make your own gear or manipulate the environment. You can also of course smash that door infront of you.

>Presentation

Really good, but I hope you like cockney. There is so much cockney in this game that it makes Fable look like Texas. It becomes really annoying to the point where I eventually turned voices off. The graphics are good though for a kickstarted title as are all the effects and those sound effects are really crunchy too. The battle music is the only track I remember but none of the music was offensively bad.

>Story
It's bad. It's too lighthearted and the writers aren't good enough to do comedy. I laughed about four times during the whole game but there's a joke or a nudge-nudge injoke around every corner. Really the story isn't there, it's just an excuse for gameplay and really, really bad jokes. I keep drawing a comparison to Fable, but imagine Fable 1 without the Jack of Blades seriousness. That's OS in both Classic and EE. It has nothing but bland light-heartedness without the skill a writer needs to make it fun. I have a list of problems with this story but this is the central one. It feels like no stakes. It's like A New Hope without Vader or the Death Star. It's like Indiana Jones without Nazis and the Ark. It's an adventure story without a good reason or antagonist. Which is really bad since this is an rpg.

>Conclusion
If you take your rpgs without the story and love corny, hokey settings OS is perfect for you. It's perfect for you is you like crunchy tactics gameplay and you don't care about story. Otherwise I would give it a miss.

The more I play the more Bairdotr becomes hard carry while my starting characters (scoundrel and elemental mage) just derp around and Malora basically stands in front like a punching bag to protect the rest.

You've levelled Madora wrong, she's supposed to be a powerhouse with a two-hander, capable of dishing out retarded damage to multiple enemies through Whirlwind attack.

Bear daughter is good, though. She's a very effective damage dealer from start to finish.

Well build Madora can OTK bosses in Vanilla.

>no fun allowed
Is this referring to the fixing of the broken builds?

Refering to absolutely nerfing a lot of things into oblivion instead of making them viable but balanced alternatives.

Like Combat Sneaking.
Leech.
Lonewolf glasscannon.

e.t.c...

Dude it has great music!

Has anyone tried the Epic Encounters mod? How is it?

>The battle music is the only track I remember but none of the music was offensively bad.

Nigga, Krill was a great composer and the soundtrack for the whole thing is on a whole other level of existance.

I personally really liked the classic version. Got enhanced for free but never tried it, though I've heard great things. I suggest classic but I guess you can't go wrong in this case.

I hated baldur's gate in all it's forms
I liked Arcanum

Sell me on this game.

Combat really is the only great thing about this game but that's clearly not what you're looking for. If you want decent writing, wait for the second, they've got Avellone on board and judging by released content, he's been put to work.

Divine Divinity is good though. Gameplay wise it's a shitty diabloid but they had that eighties fantasy feel down to a t. Best soundtrack in the series, very comfy atmosphere and humorous writing actually works so you might try that one.

>Combat really is the only great thing about this game.

You forgot about the great character building.
Multiple Solutions to fights and Riddles.
70 Hours of content.
Great Music.
Lovely characters and humour.
Okay-Tier Story, not great but honestly not as bad as people say.
Good Coop.

>If you want decent writing, wait for the second, they've got Avellone on board and judging by released content, he's been put to work.

DOS 2 is already worse than DOS in story, pacing and dialogue. Avellone is a mediocre writer and worked mainly on the undead which aren't even released yet.

If you want to play for Story, no DOS 2 isn't better than the first game and somehow even got worse in certain points. Just stay away from DOS & DOS2 if you're a story-only player.

I completely agree.

Coop should really be on top of that list. At first I didn't get why a singleplayer rpg would even need one but it works surprisingly well.
