Back then Oblivion was my first "open world" RPG and also the first game I got for my Xbox 360. Going from PS2 to "next-gen" and the thought of being able to go anywhere you want on the map was mindblowing for me back then.
Oblivion was my first WRPG, so the whole thing was impressive.
I later learned that it was pretty shit, but it's still my first.

WOOOOOW HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT WOULD KILL ME
Charles Moore
Every time in Okami that I thought it was the end of the game but then it continued for another 15 hours. Happened at least twice.
And the part just before the final boss where Issun is going around handing out paintings of you to every person you ever met in the game while this played:
One of the best conclusions to any game I've ever played, honestly.
Josiah Clark
Elite: Dangerous. There were a few moments like that but one that stood out was when I picked up a single source near a planet and when I dropped out of super cruise there were two huge capitol ships and a load of smaller ships having a battle.
Isaac Bennett
Oblivion isn't shit, it's just not as good as Morrowind. I guess if you're a Witcher-worshipper it might be shit though.
William Gutierrez
Fucking this. That place is just awesome and the song is one of the best vidya songs ever
Anthony Lopez
Playing my first 3D MMORPG.

>Walking into Noctilum >Then REALLY walking into Noctilum When you first go there, you haven't even scratched the surface, there was just so much more.
Jackson Wood
Regardless of what you think of the game you gotta admit this part was awesome to see after so much death and miserable shit
unfortunately when I walked out of the sewers for the first time the it was raining and full of fog, game did not wow me for some time later when the weather cleared.
Lucas Perry
I don't really like the Witcher games, they've always been too tied down to a particular story for me. Oblivion has a lot going for it, but there's also a lot of pretty bullshit stuff in there too, and I've got to say that I like both Morrowind and Skyrim more.
Aside from Shivering Isles/KotN because that's top tier right there.
Brandon Cox
Basically this.
I don't know what was it about Lineage 2 that made it feel extremely fucking huge, while at the same time being extremely fucking comfy.
Also Dark Elf faps.
Grayson Bennett
'>and I've got to say that I like both Morrowind and Skyrim more >and Skyrim more
You've peaked my interest, user. Why do you like Skyrim more?
Brandon Hernandez
Flying for the first time and any time you walk into a new area the first time
Camden Taylor
not him but it's piqued, user, not peaked.
Noah Richardson
It was my first jrpg, pls don't bully
Thomas Edwards
Oh. Thanks.

That's a weird vacuum cleaner you are carrying around there
Lucas Mitchell
Last time was during TW3 when I travelled across the Skellige isles for the first time and the music started playing. Music always makes at least half the moment for me
Josiah Scott
yo dawg lemme tell you about aliasing
Parker Bennett
FF6fags are the most toxic and bitter fanbase of any video game, they will never be not mad that 7 stole the spotlight.
Cameron Flores
>get out of the cave >no music >no area introduction >go through the chasm
Xavier Ward
for all of its problems that game has many moments of awe, if only it did not run like shit at 4k
Lucas Young

Years ago, exploring some dusty plain with my low level WOW warlock and new Nightmare steed, (had to do a quest to get it!) just galloping around, get chased by higher level monsters into a volcano - discover Blackrock Depths interior with massive chained island above lava. Gobsmacked.

Shitting myself playing resident evil on GameCube and encountering this monstrosity
Cooper Fisher
Playing Daggerfall Unity and opening the world map, then region map. And realizing that I was a tiny pip on that goddamn region map with over 50 little locations in that tiny little region.
Too bad combat sucks desu
Aiden Collins
Impressed me at first, in ten minutes i was hating it
Julian Ramirez
Taking an airship for the first time in Archeage, just chilling with other people and enjoying the scenery. A shame Trion fucked up the game so hard.
Alexander Morris
I had a lot of good moments in Archeage. I ended up quitting when Trion decided to gift thunderstruck logs to everyone who had cash, rendering the ones I had useless.
Camden Campbell
Same here
tfw when you step outside of the dank sewers for the first time. it's night, it's raining, in the flashes you can see beautiful (for the time) landscape extending in all directions. That sense of freedom and adventure fills you. Then the comfiest soundtrack known to man begins playing.
Dominic Barnes
the demo in 2001 blew me away
Christopher Fisher
>I later learned that it was pretty shit, but it's still my first.
This meme needs to end, Oblivion was a great game.
Jonathan Powell
omg yes! Would rent ZOE from blockbuster just to play the Demo of MGS2 it came with.
Caleb Jenkins
the codex will never let that meme die
Liam Bennett
maybe with mods but the gameplay and level scaling ruin the experience
William Long
Playing on a 720p Tv for the first time with my 360. I played the Tony Hawk's Project 8 demo first. Dem Graphics
Logan Edwards
first 360 games were quite a jump, I remember NHL 07 being amazing
Brody Sanders
...then you realized that the price for that were lifeless character models with dumb animation and same assets repeated again and again and wondered "is this the future?". Then choosed a different hobby.
Alexander Gomez
Still, it is better than anything Bethesda did since then
Adam Sanders
This seemed so huge back in the day Fucking around in the adventure hubworlds and trying for sick trick jumps was the comfiest shit. They should've taken the series into a collectathon direction.
Playing Lineage 2 for the first time, entering that huge ass green plains and thinking "wow, this game must be HUGE!" I don't remember much but about it now but I think I never got to travel the entire world map.
Playing GW2 during launch, seeing that horde of a bazillion players walking around doing stuff was amazing.
Playing Dark Souls in general.
Playing Bravely Default, when you ignore Airy's commands and break a crystal, then you discover her lies and beat her, and then the game's title changes from "Where Fairy Flies" to "(Where F)Airy (F)Lies"
Playing Persona 3 on the PS2, at the ending where it implies that the MC dies, but then the song lyrics talking about how he lived make it clear he did. I felt kinda bad on that ending.
Nathaniel Gonzalez
>tfw purchased Oblivion for the PC when it released as my first Elder Scrolls game >computer was a prebuilt Vaio that I mostly played WoW with >graphic settings were low but still said "wow" upon leaving the sewers I miss being ignorant.
Dominic Jenkins
>Descending Blighttown for the first time >First Souls game for me, shit is hard as hell >Death by fall, raped by ogres, fucked by the toxic dart guys >Finally reach the bottom >A fucking poisonus swamp full of deathly insects and rape ogres >Miss the bonfire in the sewer tunnel-thing at the bottom because im a dumb fuck >Walking erratically in the sawmp, no estus because the descending was hard enough, poisoned and with mosquitoes up my ass >See something looking like a root forming a slope heading to a big ass tree >Oh god it better be a bonfire inside >Theres only a fucking chest >I deny my bad luck, the place seems fishy >Hit the wall >Holy fuck, there's another chest >Hit the second wall because why not >Boom, a secret path >WHAT >Walk into the tunnel, bang, there's a bonfire at the end and a whole new area >My ass is saved >tears of joy
I felt like the smartest / luckiest guy at the moment, DS1 was truly an experience.

Austin Robinson
The bandits that camp there are weirdly aggressive for some scrubs living right next to the imperial city. Should have wound their necks in.
