It's the same for every musou. There are always 5-10 large fields, and you replay them over and over with different factions and objectives.

A sequel is pretty much guaranteed. They said they wanted to make Extella into it's own series even before the game was out and it sold decently enough to fund that.

Hakuno doesn't even have his/her own VO nor any dialogue (that is not expressed in inner thought), and they also don't have a name (you give them one, and that's how everyone will address you). They're as self-insert'y as you can get.

It's fine if you're a Fate fan and a musou fan. Doesn't do anything really new gameplay wise but what's there is solid. Roster isn't bad. 16 characters is pretty average for a new musou, barring DLC. But of course people are always going to whine if the character they personally wanted didn't make it in.

Low stage variety is a legitimate complaint.There's only around 6 or so unique maps, with a couple more that are boss/event only. Does make things feel more samey a bit faster, but I thought the character variety was enough to make up for it a bit.

Story is good if you liked Extra. There are a few translation hiccups here and there but they managed to capture the style of writing well enough and they did justice to the character dialogue, especially with Nero and Tamamo. The game does pander to Nero though and she's more or less the main character, so if you aren't a huge fan of her you'll probably be disappointed.

The only other issue with the story is that most of the other Servants are just kind of there. Nero, Tamamo, Altera, Archimedes, and Elizabeth are the only ones that really matter in the story in the long run. Gilgamesh is literally just there because he decided to bust into the Moon Cell because he was bored, which is actually pretty amusing.

I'd wait for it to drop to $40 or so if you're on the fence about it. It's easy to tell that the game didn't have a huge budget. But I thought the story and characters made up for it, and the gameplay is decent enough if you like musous.

It still has more content than the Berserk musou, which is fucking sad.

Extella isn't exactly GOTY, but it's miles better in every way.

Tamamo is featured heavily in the main story and has her own route. She gets a lot of attention, but the game kind of makes her out to be a butt-monkey at times. She's probably the least important of the three main Servants. The overall story is about Altera, but Nero takes the MC spot as mentioned before. Outside of her own route Tamamo is pretty much there to make trouble for Nero.

Yeah. Band of the Hawk is one of the most bare bones musou in a while. Which is really sad because it's clear they had a much larger budget than this game did.

Story mode goes up until they get on the boat but it skips over a lot of stuff so you can finish it really quickly. Most of it is told using the bad CGI models from the newest anime too.

There's only eight (8) characters, which is pretty small even for a new musou. Especially since it's clear they could have added a lot more considering how far the story goes.

Outside of the story mode and free battles, the only other mode is a survival type mode where you basically see how long you can last. Reaching certain milestones grants you stuff like extra costumes and an accessory that lets Gutt's stay in Berserker Armor forever.

It's sad because it's really fucking obvious they skimped on a lot of content so they can release an inevitable sequel later down the line when this one stops making money.

There are people who translate 30-40+ hour VNs by themselves in their free time because they're actually committed to it.

If an entire team can't do the same it's because they never really cared enough in the first place or figured it wouldn't be worth it due to lack of interest.

The story and lines are decently written. The gameplay was kinda meh. The game is mediocre.
