Do i get the PSX version or PSP version w/slowdown patch? only reason i would want PSP version is for extra classes but i heard the translation is worse

The translation is worse for those who already played the PS1 version. You won't really notice it if you play the PSP version first.

All versions have slowdown patches.

War of the Lions is objectively the better offering given that there is more content, and that the FMVs are added on top of the in-game cutscenes.

As far as translation, WoL tries too hard to be period, and this can draw you out more than it draws you in. Samurai still sucks tho. The original translation is nonsensical at times, but has a quaint charm that the nostalgia-afflicted might prefer.

Correction: WoL has a slowdown patch. The PSX does not have a animation-slowdown issue, but there does exist a "1.3" fan patch which re-balances the game and adds/removes some content (like swapping out Calculators for a 'Sage' class).

I've only ever played the PSX version, and I've loved it to death every time I play it.

Pro-Tip go monk.

Just buy it on your Vita

This guy. By the end I had adapted though.

Blame yourself, or God.

War of the Lions has Baltier and Cloud as secret characters. That alone is enough for me to choose the PSP version.

PSX if you don't want to get cucked by Mustadio.

>vita

hahahhah and what makes you think i have one of those pieces of shit?

so far i am leaning towards psp version, but i might try psx version anyway since it was the original

I know regular version has Cloud,

crappy game play something good like jeanne d;arc

>weeb not owning a vita
What?
PSX has cloud and the gay robot from CT.

Get the iOS/android version

They fixed everything from speeding up things to even the slowdown.

J'eanne D'arc was pretty good, but it can't beat FFT at its own game. Tactics Ogre, maybe, if you don't like to have fun.

>anyone ever owning a vita
What?

Tactics might be a good game, who knows, but I couldn't spend more than a minute using that camera system so it doesn't really matter

>not Ragnarok tactics
It's like you want the superior AI to kick your butt or something.

WotL has extras but looks and sounds like shit on PSP

>weeb not owning THE weeb machine
What?

>that camera

Holy shit its bad

The story will probably be more coherent in the WotL version, assuming you can keep up with the stupid dialect. The new cutscenes take away from game IMO - they have cringey theatre play-tier dialogue. The original PS1 cutscenes use music, sprite animation, and text with the character portraits. Plus you'll be missing out on some of the most memorable lines in gaming. The extra stuff is stupid, even Cloud in the original version felt out of place. I'd still go with the PS1 version.

haha now OP sees the light and will go play a good SRPG instead of memetactics!

play the PSX version; translation inaccuracies are fantastic

I absolutely despise mobile ports

War of the Lions HAS MUCH BETTER TRANSLATION, Don't listen to retards.

there are three versions of FFT, PSX/original, PSP/port with added content and mobile/'remake', and they're all more or less the same except for a few exclusive tidbits:

PSX has the regular (if not broken at times) English translation, incantations before skills and no slowdown whatsoever.

PSP has the ye olde English translation and is basically the same as the PSX version with more content (minus the incantations). the slowdown /can/ be fixed through patches but they just fast forward the game, so skills are kinda buggy still in comparison to the PSX version. oh, and it uses a poorly implemented widescreen hack.

mobile is the same as the PSP except it comes with the slowdown patch built in and has high-res sprites.

You should, but that doesn't mean its a bad port.

>weeb machine
more like no games machine

PS1 has better translation and a better soundtrack. The "extras" aren't worth shit.
The problem with the PS1's translation is not translation accuracy, it's the transliteration of names and occasional grammar issues. PSP's translation is actual made up shakespearean bullshit.

mobile port also entails no 2x speed via emulator and no save file preservation. i always backup my emulator saves on my pc

There is also a fix for the widescreen stuff.

>no fun allowed fags

it fits the overall tone of the game.

I'm gonna do another PS1 run with the PSP translation just to spite you.

That's fine, at least you aren't hearing the PSP's butchered version of the soundtrack. That's an even bigger problem than the translation.

And I'm gonna pirate the psp version but play the ps1 version just to out meme you.

it is. I played it on Bluestacks and thought to myself 'this can't be right', so I bought it and the port plays just as bad on my phone.

you can clearly tell it's just a dirty hack. there are seams between textures and the framerate stutters like crazy. the slowdown patch is even worse than the fanmade one. it's fucking ludicrous that FFHacktics can whip out a better mod than fucking SE.

While we're here, can we take a moment to speak about Front Mission?

It's been 20 years since the first game.

Remake when? Sequel when?

2007

>sequel when
Hopefully never.
A remake like the one LUCTgot would be nice. No ye Olde English though.
