No, the series isn't anime style in its art. What few women there are, look plain and down to earth. The series is hard gay as the focus is on men first and foremost. There are no "waifus" which is one of the reasons its never caught on in the west. Just not "anime" enough for japanophiles.

the main difference between shenmue and yakuza is yakuza has way more fights and much less asking people inane questions, it's a natural evolution of the formula, already in shenmue 2 they ramped up the fights and reduced the amount of pointless waiting and talking
the huge detail that shenmue was famous for was also degraded in 2 so complaining that you can't find a time travelling sega saturn in your grandma's tv cabinet doesn't work either

yakuza isn't really an rpg though
and shenmue has an inventory and upgradable moves which are pretty much the main 'rpg elements' of the yakuza series
only real difference is equippable weapons but that's more down to yakuza's combat being a street brawler while shenmue is about being a karate kid
it's fine to have your own opinion but it's ridiculous not to accept the similarities between the two series, i wouldn't go as far as saying that yakuza was a resurrection of some of the concepts SEGA had put on hold after the death of the dreamcast and the postponement of the shenmue series but it does feel like it sometimes
