Lol betcha can't make a game in one year

>lol betcha can't make a game in one year
>you're on, nerd
Why don't game companies make bets or challenge themselves?

>Vice City was made in 10 months

>4 dungeons

Developers don't take risks anymore

>best zelda
really makes you think

Probably because Majora's Mask was terrible.

The industry is too big for them to take risks.

>Can't make games in a year
>What's Ubisoft

Try three months and not having assets to recycle.

You lose too much on failed bets and challenges now.

>best first dungeon (Woodfall)
>best water dungeon (Great Bay)
>best dungeon in the entire series (Stone Tower)

Oh, darn.

Because that game was shit.

4 grest dungeons and the overworld itself being a series of puzzles, including a staggering number of sidequests, it's good shit

yeah, this

> Only Zelda game that is against exploring and enjoying the world at your pace

> Only Zelda game to reuse 90% of the another Zelda game (Even the CD-I games had new material from game to game)

> Only Zelda game with no Zelda or no MENTION of Zelda.

How is this the greatest Zelda game? I feel like it's just hipsters trying to be different from OoT fags or that small percent of kids where THIS was there first Zelda title.

Legend of Zelda thread?

they already had the engine and most characters built.

>Engine and assets are already created
>Allows your full team to concentrate on design and gameplay, rather than technical details.

People like it because it's not a Zelda game, that natural draws intrigue

Holy shit this.

The whole game is a dungeon

>Only Zelda game that is against exploring.
>Even though it has the most dynamic world and the most secrets and side quests of any zelda game.
Retards who don't realize that the 3-day time limit adds so much to the game shouldn't ever post.

Don't worry Sup Forums is far from the pulse of what is good or popular in video games, otherwise Senran would be outselling Tripla A titles

Shame about Snowhead. Atleast Goht is good though.

seriously this

Why do games like bethesda dont focus on making a solid dev kit that's all figured out and then use it to make more content with sequels?

> Only Zelda game with no Zelda or no MENTION of Zelda.
I agree all but this. what is triforce heroes

It's just a revisionist movement of some idiots looking back through hipster glasses and thinking it was good.

There was absolutely no way to not be disappointed by Mojora's Mask at the time of it's release coming right out of Ocarina of Time.

Shit, this is either decent bait or you're familiar with next to nothing about the game.

I think it's the Mario Sunshine of Zelda, its the dark horse, but it's still extremely good but in its own way.

I doubt you could recreate it, if every Zelda had a cut and pace time travel mechanic (no not the Master Sword, the more in depth one MM had) it would get tired very fast. MM was a nice deviation from the formula, but by no means a model to make again.

Is this another "BotW viral marketers are unable to convince people that it won't be better than Majora's Mask so they just shitpost in majora's mask threads in order to make it look like everyone hates the game" meme thread?

>>Even though it has the most dynamic world and the most secrets and side quests of any zelda game.

The hell are you talking about, it's actually one of the smallest asset maps with little to no original material. Even Quest 64 had a bigger overworld (That's not to say Quest 64 is better, but really bro)

The one mentioning BotW is you.

Let that sink in.

No this just another typical Zelda thread where no one can agree on anything.

>no zelda, or no mention of zelda
did you not even get past the first 3 day cycle where you're a deku scrub in clock town?

Thats exactly what bethesda does you fucking donut.

water temple is much better.

fucking this though

When people complain about the time restriction in MM, it reveals them to be the most casual shitters of all. It's like another user said, the 3 day cycle ENCOURAGES exploration.

Reusing assets was just fine, they even had a creative explanation for it and it's one of the more unique Zeldas there is. Not everything HAS to be built from the ground up.

Zelda was in a flash back, if only briefly. Did you quit before getting through your firdt 3 day cycle or something?

>Only Zelda game with no Zelda or no MENTION of Zelda

Nigga she literally appears during a flashback in the first hour of the game.

It has the smallest world, but it's the most condensed in collectables and witnessable scenes. The 3-day time limit allows for different events to occur at different times, meaning that exploring an area on one day will yield different results when you decide to explore it another day.

In addition to that, the game has the most heart containers of any zelda game, and they're all hidden in pretty creative places. Majora's Mask has the most secret areas in its overworld of any zelda game, despite being the smallest. There's also all the mask sidequests, and there's plenty of masks, not to mention all of the optional story sidequests that reward little things like bottles and heart pieces.

Majora's Mask has the most side content of any zelda game for a reason, even if it has the smallest world. I think it having a smaller world works in its favor, though, because there are more secrets inbetween eachother to find.

>cut and pace

Dynamic side quests and content don't equal size. It's smaller size lets it keep shit concise and tightly designed

>everybody likes this thing maybe if I'm a huge cunt about it I'll gain some hipster credibility

>Only Zelda game with no Zelda or no MENTION of Zelda.
Flashback to Zelda giving you the Ocarina of Time when you regain it from Skull Kid, imbecile.

>Oh wow, that's sooooo much!
I'm not the one stressing so hard that there isn't a mention of someone who is more than just mentioned. Also who fucking cares in the first place. The game has its own story to tell, and it's a good one. Now fuck off.

this some shit-tier deflecting right here

>bethesda dont focus on making a solid dev kit that's all figured out and then use it to make more content with sequels?
already done that, they just suck at creating new content and sequels.

This is why I like more DIFFERENT games, I don't like it when games are the same thing over and over, unlike most of the masses.

Majora's Mask is my favorite zelda simply because it took risks and excelled as a result of talent and skilled developers working hard to make something good and new.

To be fair these days with all the fixation with grephix a game that recycles so much assets wouldn't be accepted as much

I mean, look at all the people accusing Splatoon 2 of being a glorified DLC because it doesn't look different enough from the first game

>bet you can't fuck it up in a remake

>Only Zelda game that is against exploring and enjoying the world at your pace

The time limit actually adds to the exploration you retard, in fact MM might be the Zelda with the most focus on exploration (we'll see what happens with BotW)

>Only Zelda game to reuse 90% of the another Zelda game (Even the CD-I games had new material from game to game)

Nothing wrong with this, the game was different enough not to feel like a rehash of OoT.

>Only Zelda game with no Zelda or no MENTION of Zelda.

Nothing wrong with this

If this is bait then you got me.

Because most of the time you end up with No Man's Sky

>this restriction is actually FREEDOM

> Only Zelda game that is against exploring and enjoying the world at your pace
This sounds true in theory, but because you can reset the clock at any point, it doesn't discourage exploration or enjoying the world at your own pace at all. And despite that, it adds to the game by allowing you to find multiple things in the same area at different times. The time limit, ironically, encourages and rewards exploration.

You would know this if you played the game.

MM3D is excellent.

>make one game after 8 years
>make one shit dlc that lasts 3 hours with 2 new spells and a new armor set that adds nothing
>package most popular mod from nexus and sell as dlc
>7 years of nothing

They're not doing what OOT did with Majora mask. They're not doing what the modding scene is doing by creating entire new islands and quest lines from the assets already present in the game, only having to add voice acting.

Maybe it wouldn't sell, maybe people only crave those new assets they can shell out after years of work. But when you look at iterated over games like Goldeneye-Perfect dark 64 and OoT-Majora, you can only wonder what they'd be able to do if they built on what they did in the first game and try to improve. Be it on the world building or the writing.

I might pick it up, but how does the time limit work? You can restart any number of times and 100% the game even if you're slow, right? Is it like an infinite time loop where the world slowly changes as you complete quests?

that´s not because of 1year or because of aonuma.
It´s because of this guy.
>3day cycle
>interaction with npcs
>probably also the whole dark thing

it was him, nobody else. This guy is literally the MVP of Nintendo and now instead of making new games, he is the boss of aonuma.

Snowhead is pretty cool too

>Ok how about this. We make the shittiest Zelda game ever and put the best Princess Zelda in it.

Doesn't it say more about a game when it rewards exploration despite having a time limit?

>Those feels when healing the Goron hero.
I was not ready....

yeah if it weren't for the boss fight being worse and the swimming

Whoops.

This is a fair point. MM is different. It was what happened when you made an entire game with the theme of the shadow temple. I wish game-makers took larger risks, but art for art sake never moves the big bucks so.

Some events you need to catch during certain times in order to unlock masks, start quests, and reach certain places (you can just direct teleport with the owl or if you find the song of that place just use the Ocarina)

Just goes to show how internet ruined everything

I played and loved MM liked it better than OoT and as a kid I had no idea it took them a year to make. Who rthe fuck even cares, the game was good

This "certain times" loops around too, right? So it's not like if you didn't catch it once you missed it forever?

I agree, see pic.

Although I think 'the worst handheld Zelda' must go to Zelda Tri foce heroes. What a piece of shit that was.

How? I just started playing it, beat the first 2 bosses and couldn't notice any difference

He looks fucking pissed.

It says that the people designing this game are schizophrenic and oppose themselves at every turn.

...

>It says that the people designing this game are schizophrenic and oppose themselves at every turn.
That sounds fun as fuck tbqhimofamarooni

probably because you didn't play the original

Asking why I enjoyed a game by contrasting it with another experience helps me to really focus on why I enjoyed something and can actually help me see other games in another light I maybe didn't catch the first time round.

You really don't have to get upset at other peoples opinions.

Yes. You have a song that takes you right to the beginning.

I will never understand people's fascination will majoras mask

I'm not having this conversation again for the upteenth time.

>lists a bunch of nitpicks
>views some improvements as downgrades
>ignores/takes for granted a bunch of improvements and the severity of them

seen it all before mate

maybe if you've read the thread and considered a lot of the points presented you would

But i did
I had to stop after Snowhead for reasons, but again, i did only mention the first 2 bosses

What's your experience with the game?

Multiple studios working on different additions to a series

>COD being the obv example

uh... I liked it more than OoT when it came out.

of course he is pissed. He always wanted to be a director for movies and shit. Then he got to Nintendo and gave e.g. Links awakening the story. He made the best Zelda, this fucking dude is also the father of Mario Galaxy. And now he designed the Switch and is just the boss of them.

Just give this guy a new 2D/3D zelda.

It's almost like some of the most harped-on changes to the remake don't actually make the game worse or even all that different.

adding eyes to the bosses which you have to hit isn't an improvement

Mega Man games are literally the fast food of the 8/16-bit era, they pumped those out faster than McDonalds pumps out burgers.

At least she got redemption

>Why don't game companies make bets or challenge themselves?
that requires confidence in your skills/employees/products, and current companies only have confidence in consumer stupidity.

At least we got best Zelda waifu

Then you must not remember the original very well, because the mechanics of those two boss fights were changed completely.

I played both OoT and MM for the first time a couple years ago, MM is just much more memorable and interesting as both a game and a story.

MM is Groundhog Day: the game

You have 3 days to beat the game, but you can reset to day 1 at any time, you can also make time go slower to play it at your own pace, you can play your Ocarina to skip 12 hours at a time if you wanna check something at a certain moment without having to wait for the time to flow normally.

And you get to keep all the equipment that you find. The things that you change in the world through your actions revert after you reset; but as I said, you get to keep the rewards that you got out of them, mostly masks, with which you can access different places, get people to react to you in a different manner or gain special abilities.

another good example of less is good

I was a huge fan of Oot. The jump from 2d to 3d for consoles was amazing back then. I was so hyped to play Oot, i remember i got the game as a present a week before i bought my n64 and i would just look at the cover and read the manual over and over i was so hyped to play it and it did not let me down.

Then MM came out and again i was not let down at all. I loved that game. I dont even get why people are saying that reusing assets is a bad thing. The artstyle of n64 zelda fits quite nicely and is imo better than anime tier toon link stuff. but i didnt mind that when it came out even though there was a huge wave of backlash over it looking cartoony.
I would have been happy with another 2-3 zelda games with the same assets, slightly better graphics would have been just fine.

If I like a game i want more of the same.

MM was more of the same but also very different from OoT or any other game out there at the time. It's probably one of the greatest sequels to any video game because of this.
People who found the time mechanic too frustrating to deal with just suck.

>Fi will warn you about your batteries running out of energy each time you enter a new area
>the game makes beeping noises until you talk to her

Truly the worst.

Because MM is more like an expansion since it reuses most OoT assets

MM3D is just a mixed bag of good and bad changes. Nothing more nothing less

I played OoT like 3 times but always got bored around the time you got adult Link and you had to go sidequesting and switching between worlds and stuff.
Can I skip it and play MM, or should I give OoT another shot?

>everyone likes this thing so it must be good, anyone who thinks it isn't that good must be trying to be edgy

kill yourself autismo

>I-i'm not edgy guys!
>le kill yourself buzzword!

MM is superior to OOT, but it's literally an asset flip

If you like the young link parts you'll definitely like MM and MM can be played alone but it's best appreciated after playing OoT.
