couldn't believe RLM shitted on Rogue One for fanservice but gave TFA a positive review.

these guys just went into Rogue One looking for whatever angle would let them shit on it the hardest, they had it out for the movie from before seeing the first trailer.

Gareth Edwards did a (mostly) good job despite corporate meddling causing shit like pointless C3PO and R2D2 and Leia. the real low point of the movie is that rain planet where nothing important happens

best Star Wars movie since Empire. yes it's better than RotJ, RotJ is actually a pretty shitty movie at most parts despite having some great scenes.

all other Star Wars films are total shit and the only great ones are New Hope and Empire.

also these RLM guys don't really know what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to making movies. the Plinkett prequel reviews are great and hilarious but any pleb could have picked the glaring plot holes in those shittastic movies to shreds. their own horrible films are a testament to their skill and knowledge

... also, the best Star Wars games are Republic Commando, Battlefront 2, Jedi Academy, and the arcade cabinet game.

Nice blog post bro, upvoted!

THEY BROKE NEW GROUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>not being able to make good movies yourself means you can't criticise someone else for making a bad one

You're fucking stupid. What was the last video game you made?

>TFA comes out
>it's shit, 100% garbage characters and dialogue, plot is terrible, doesn't even feel like star wars but rather a JJ Abrams capeshit film
>"I loved it, it was everything I wanted it to be."

>Rogue One comes out
>it's pretty good, characters are okay but underdeveloped, dialogue has much less quips, feels like a real star wars film
>"AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs AT-STs"

What did Reddit Letter Media mean by this?

>feels like a real star wars film
I'd love to hear your justification for that

Well that's your opinion man, Rogue One had tonnes of Quips, on of the characters is literally called Quip-bot

>"I loved it, it was everything I wanted it to be."
That's just what Mike said, the rest of them thought it was just an okay movie at best. Jack and Rich had an hour long video where they were talking about the problems the movie had on Previously Recorded. Even Mike stopped liking it as much as time went on.

The fact that I became so digitally, electronically powerful scared my government as well as others. It was that power that caused them to assassinate my fiance, and break my heart forever. It caused me to re-evaluate what I was doing for my country, and that maybe, other countries would be interested in my services. After all, I controlled access to the national geospatial intelligence agency. I control access to anything and everything, even from my little simple, brilliant setup. My girlfriend and I always wanted to have children, and now all of that's been taken away from me. I work as a freelance agent now for many countries, making millions of dollars on many various covert assignments.

Mr. Plinkett is, objectively, the most annoying character ever conceived in any artistic medium. I've never wanted to strangle someone through my screen before, but then RLM happened and I'm fucking pissed.

>feels like a real Star Wars film
It was written like fanfiction, it's literally just a fan service movie

THE ROGUE ONE MOVIE FROM THE STAR WARS FRANCHISE FROM LUCAS ARTS WHICH DISNEY BOUGH IS THE LATEST MASTERPIECE CREATION EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IT AT LEAST SIX, EIGHT, ELEVEN TIMES. ON IMAX. THREE DEE.

the only non-shit thing reddit letter media has produced is the plinkett reviews of the prequels. everything else is hot garbage and wrong.

>try to act condescending toward capeshit
>70% of what they review is capeshit and it's the only movies they ever say they actually like
>barely review any movies that aren't mainstream and mass advertised
>i don't think they've ever reviewed a foreign film

Did you watch the last half in the bag? They literally talk about every single """criticism""" that you bring up

Jedi Outcast

RLM drones are the worst. Grow up or you'll be unemployable fat 40 year old family-less virgins like Mike, Jay, and Rich.

how fucking booty blasted can you kids get because someone insulted a YouTube movie vlog? all I'm saying is that R1 was like a 6.5/10 and that the RLM guys didn't appear to appreciate any of the movies good qualities

I didn't say you NEED to be able to direct a movie that isn't a steaming pile of diarrhea in order to be able to make a cogent critique of a film, but for the record the RLM crew is not capable of doing either of those things

What good qualities? The action and the visual style were all praised by them

>for the record the RLM crew is not capable of doing either of those things
>the Plinkett prequel reviews are great and hilarious
hmm

Rogue One was fucking awful, it's fanwank and horrid editing right until the end.

I can't believe they put that fucking halloween costume out as Vader, you could see his neck flap opening up every time he was on screen.

N O S T A R W A R S M O V I E S W E R E G O O D
You know its true.

Republic Commando is vastly overrated by Sup Forums

I played it recently, and not only the gunplay is terrible, the missions always involve "plant explosives on X" which reminds me of some bootleg Call of Duty campaign since it hits the same old notes.

This thread's hilarious.

i don't get why they're so triggered about people on the internet saying that rogue one is a better movie than the force awakens. tfa was a slapstick little kids movie, reminded me of the phantom menace. i also don't see how Mike isn't embarrassed by the fact that he recommended that JJ Abrams lead the project and it actually happened and the movie turned out to be such trash. JJ Abrams isn't a good director and his movies age like milk. pop film making at its worst.

Pretty much.

It's not bad or anything, I'd call it solid, but it's short and the gunplay isn't that good. I mostly like it for the banter and atmosphere.

The only star wars game that matters right here.

WATCH THOSE WRISTROCKETS

was this the only video where he screamed ATST? or there's another one?

Personally I LOVED THE OLD REPUBLIC ONLINE

they kinda mentioned them offhand and admitted that they existed but I felt like they severely underrated it. I think they're just jaded from watching too many of these shitty capeshit action movies and are losing their ability to distinguish a well directed action scene from total dreck.

they seem to have developed some kind of weird laser focus on the importance of the development of the protagonist and don't appear to think that a film, even a war movie like R1, can be any good if it doesn't go out of its way to make us sympathize with the main character and tell us why we shouldn't like the bad guys.

those 2 greentext statements aren't contradictory btw because the Plinkett prequel reviews don't require any kind of serious criticism to make, they're mostly just an exhaustive list of obvious glaring plot holes rather than any kind of in depth analysis

>muh editing

are you going to go any deeper with that claim or just leave it at the buzzword stage? yeah it had pacing issues but it was far from awful

Empire Strikes Back is fucking GOTYAY and ANH is pretty great too

>ROfags still butthurt that Mike rightfully called RO shallow fan service shit

Not that guy but I do agree that some of the editing in the beginning was questionable. There was a lot of kind of confusing cuts right at the start that was a little disorienting. The rest of the movie was pretty dope though.

>even a war movie like R1, can be any good if it doesn't go out of its way to make us sympathize with the main character
give me one good war movie that does this

One of the best war movies is saving Private Ryan, and that spends well over half of the running time on character development. It's what made the final battle so imapctful, you knew the characters and you felt something when they died at the end. It was the complete opposite for Rogue 1, which tried to do a similar thing with mass death at the end but failed miserably.

If you have a shit story, then you better fucking have good or likable characters to carry the viewer through it. This is true for all good action movies. Well shot action scenes alone can't carry a movie, as Rogue One showed.

>the Plinkett prequel reviews don't require any kind of serious criticism to make, they're mostly just an exhaustive list of obvious glaring plot holes rather than any kind of in depth analysis
half of them are plotholes, yeah. There's a fuck load of criticism of the way it was shot, the attitude George Lucas had on making the film, the story structure, the characters and the action scenes, although that last one is mostly on the Episode 3 review.

>muh pacing issues

Fuck you.

It cut from scene to scene too quickly, it went from happy to sad and the reversal too quickly. It showed us things that had no context and we were never given any.

A good example is Generic Man whoever the fuck shooting one of the rebels in the city battle and getting a nod from other rebels, as if that rebel was a bad rebel or something.

Obviously the last minute reshoots fucked with the movie.

>give me one good war movie that does this

off the top of my head, We Were Soldiers

not that it's limited to war films either. Fury Road really doesn't tell you shit about Max other than "he's badass and he's haunted by his past", and doesn't tell you much about Furiosa other than "she is badass and wants to free the breeders from Joe." the movie is great in spite of that and it absolutely is carried by the direction and action

>Fury Road
Objectively incorrect. Fury Road was praised because of the action AND because of how the characters were developed and had personalities through the way they behaved in the middle of action scenes rather than through lengthy exposition. That was what was remarkable about the movie. They all ended up with far, far more depth than any of the characters in Rogue One.

I haven't seen We Were Soldiers, so I won't comment on that.

>""objectively""

if that's what Fury Road "was praised" for (by whom?) then I disagree with that praise. the only characters in the story that remotely interested me were Joe and that one War Boy. Joe didn't get any real development at all and the War Boy guy, while he did have an interesting and fun little arc, wasn't even one of the two protagonists. they both went undeveloped but the movie didn't suffer as a result because it didn't really matter

>by whom
nearly every critic if you read their reviews

I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW THE MASTER SWORD

ok brb reading every critic's review

SHEIKAS SHEIKAS

CALAMITY GAAAAAAANON

okay back from reading every review. and by "reading every review" I mean "reading the metacritic blurb for each of the 21 reviews for Fury Road with a score of 100"

nearly every one of the blurbs focused on the action and imagery itself.
>Words are not really the point when it comes to dealing with this barn-burner of a post-apocalyptic extravaganza in which sizzling, unsettling images are the order of the day.

>The loveliest part of Mad Max: Fury Road is its grungy, quasi-Gothic imagery

>With Mad Max: Fury Road, director George Miller delivers the sort of jumbo-sized entertainment that makes you spontaneously break out in appreciative laughter

the only one of these reviewers that specifically praises the character development was Roeper: "Amidst all those ingenious, power-packed road warrior sequences, Fury Road contains a surprising amount of depth and character development." all he adds to that comment in the full review is "There’s not a whole lot of dialogue, and yet Max, Furiosa and Nux experience something akin to growth. Fighting like animals against creatures with not a speck of conscience, they tap into their own humanity." and honestly that doesn't elaborate on the claim at all. just judging from that it sounds like he was simply starry-eyed over how fucking good the movie was and ended up throwing that comment in due to getting carried away

I gank Jedi with my bounty hunter on SWG awakening server. It takes them months and months of constant grind to become special snowflake and even more grind to remain so it gives me extra pleasure and the tears are bountiful.

IT BROKE NEW GROUND

I think Mike said that he didn't like TFA after some time has passed.

I mean, I get that your feelings can change towards something but they should probably address that instead of leaving it as a side comment.

Which is better

>Jedi Outcast
>Jedi Academy

BATTLEFRONT TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

...

Hot damn those models make me SO ROCK HARD.

Why do audiences not appreciate this shit? Why do my coworkers say outright ignorant shit like "the OT is pretty boring compared to the prequels, which had more action"

Like what the fuck. Who thinks like that.

did jay steal mikes youth?

it looks like Mike stole Jay's donuts.

More action, in-between several decades of political garbage and terrible, terrible romance and angst.
Thrilling!
