it sure is a video game

10/10 soundtrack, so good that without it nobody would have praised this game the way they did.

Other than that, the art is abysmal and was clearly aiming to be nothing more than "good enough". The gameplay was simple as fuck, and although the concept of each fight being unique was fairly well done Fox should've reined the combat system to be a little more complex than "don't get hit".

Story-wise it's a weird mix of dad jokes, cringe, and fake "2deep4u" lore. The story isn't all that good or complex but autists continue to complicate it.

It's a good game if you like the type of game that it is. It gives you something to do even in the middle of the turn based combat, which is more than a lot of RPGs can say. Your enjoyment of the themes depends on your personal interests and values, and the soundtrack seems to be widely thought as a hit.

all you're insulting is the best component of the game: its simplicity. That's what got the game sales and praise, not the soundtracks. Many games have great soundtracks and are still ignored. The simple, light yet entertaining gameplay, the unique but far from serious story, the light humor, the easy solution for replayability, it's really a great game. It's a great example of the fun and profitable things you can come up with without a budget and with literally zero programming knowledge.

I like it a lot. The fanbase is regrettable, but you can't hold that against the game itself. The only thing the game does wrong is that fireland and the core are pretty forgettable compared to the early game.

I used to love the soundtrack but now I find it boring.
