What's their endgame?
Take over the world
Company itself operates in the red but continually grows its market shares with half baked ideas like drone delivery orripping off grubhub. Stock values keep rising regardless. Enron 2.0
To keep dropping in quality until people simply stop ordering from them.
2007 - Fast shipping, items arrive perfectly.
2017 - Free two day shipping becomes four days, packages arrive looking like someone stomped on them, contents completely destroyed. Sent replacement is destroyed.
To combat UPS.
>Started charging sales tax to me as of January 1st.
The dream is dead, I'm off to find another way to buy stuff.
prime was a mistake. if you dont have it expect your shit have at least a 1 week delay before it even ships.
they literally bought the us postal service so if you're at end of your mailman's route your shit doesn't arrive until night not to mention usps sorting facilities are notoriously bad at fucking up packages.
they still haven't made a separate site for their video service, their entire web page design is a clusterfuck stuck in the early 2000s.
shipping in general turned into swap meet, you go to find something thats a good deal but its sold by some guy in his garage or some chinese storefront.
become bigger than google
castration of all male developers

To die alone in a cold, uncaring universe.

Happened to me a few years ago. Shit sucks.
i love my prime i get my shit on time erry day LOL just got a samsuck 500GV ssd anda a noctua NH-D15 skrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>he doesn't have a student discount
Since when? I have no problems with amazon like what you're describing. Only time I saw problems was during this past Christmas, but I figure that was just everyone ordering stuff online, and at that all I got was 3 days instead of 2.
Getting as close to a monopoly as they can without getting shut down. Then gobble up all the small 3rd party sellers under their banner, and follow the valve model of "we're maintaining a shitty website and make bank with that".
They're good at it, too.
>trying to watch amazon video on pc
how is it still that bad I don't fucking get it
i do the family share thing, but non prome customers getting treated like shit is still no excuse. slower ground shipping is a given, but they have no excuse to delay actually getting items out the door. and the elitist attitude like you just demonstrated just makes it worse.
Good sales. Should I get madden for 40 bucks off?
>ITT: things that never happen
I order from Amazon on a weekly basis. Prime let's me get almost anything the next day, and even if it's not Prime eligible it arrives very timely. This Christmas I forgot to order my brother a gift with only 4 days till Xmas. I ordered Jim a game and the arrival time was estimated for the 27th of December due to high order volume yet I received it on the 24th regardless. Never had a destroyed package.
I was mostly memeing but I honestly never had a problem with it's 2 day shipping like you've described.
I also can't speak about not having prime since I've had prime for like 4 or 5 years and don't remember anything really negative about being non-prime those days
it works fine for me on win 10 edge i get a great 1080p picture but actually finding something to watch, holy fuck their site is awful.
Is it that bad in burgerland?
Here (germany) I only have to wait up to a week until my stuff arrives if it's some obscure shit that has to be shipped in from abroad. Otherwise, it's 2-3 days - not paying usually means a one day delay in shipping, arrival one day after shipping.
They're also using their own delivery service here (they used to use DHL, which was fine too).
Bought tons of stuff so far and nothing arrived damaged.
>tfw amazon has to beg me to use the video service I'm already paying for
literally nothing to even watch, but maybe that's because I'm a Netcuck
They treat and pay their employees like shit. Why would you expect quality? When I was working there I threw shit hard just because it said fragile.
Wait a year and you can get it at a pawn shop for a dollar.
>bad
>the wire, band of brothers, High castle
its you all who are bad
>paying for only 3 series
bet you bought a ps4 only to play bloodborne
I honestly like Amazon, never had a bad experience with them
Also when I ordered some chocolates last weekend they gave me free next-day shipping even though I used the standard 5-day shipping
back then it was fine. if you were prime you got your stuff in 2 days, and non prime was free 5 days-ish ground. prime obviously got their stuff faster but amazon still got items out the door asap regardless. the current 2 day service is great if they actually ship ups, but they have a huge deal with post office now where they ship to your nearest office and hand it off to them and actual delivery time can wildly vary.
To profit with a vague and amenable social mission, so people don't compare you to the next Walmart. Essentially, to become a digital conglomerate, who can compete with Google in computing power/services and Microsoft in big data and government contracts.
They do well, but they still are in business with them. The AMZL is if the package has to be delivered within the same, 1 or 2 day timeframe and on the cheap.
>you go to find something thats a good deal but its sold by some guy in his garage or some chinese storefront
The cost of fast shipping and not-so-competitive fees. They have slightly more aggressive buyers than eBay but more stringent ones, and higher fees for sellers as well.
Lies and deception. Being fulfilled by amazon does not mean Amazon bought your company out. You can still sell a shitty product as your own company. You can still be a shitty company.
Lies and deception.
to sign you up ;)
ITT: Living in Newburgh, Chicago, or Detroit
Was considering working for their backstock team after going to a recruitment drive. Do tell more.
>they ship to your nearest office and hand it off to them and actual delivery time can wildly vary.
where are you from? shouldn't blame amazon for your local town's drunken post service
i didn't say those programs are bad, its actually finding stuff that's horrible because they treat their video service the same as any other item. they need a dedicated site for videos with a deeper search, recommendations, and vastly better interface. once you find something to watch x-ray is great, they need to do more like that.
>if you dont have it expect your shit have at least a 1 week delay before it even ships.
I've never had this problem. I swear I must live down the street from one of their warehouses or something. I sometimes got packages before they even emailed me the notice its been shipped.
>tfw even newegg started third party sellers
>find a nice deal on a controller
>its sold by a literally who with barely 3 star rating
I'm french and Amazon is pretty reliable over here,
all my packages arrived before the expected time like, 3-4 days early,
the only problem are the lazy ass drivers that don't bother ringing the door and put the papers straight to the mailbox,
caught one ringing at my door and left 5 second later to put the paper in the mailbox. it doesn't happen all the time, but at last once in a while
They'll pay you to quit if you don't quit after a year. It's the worst job in the world.
And they will.
It's fine where I live in America but I also live within an hour or so drive from the headquarters.
Understand that America is fucking huge with a load of people living in bumfuck nowhere.
Giving $10-$20 off vidya, and not putting fucking stickers on the front.
and now half of gamestop is just funko pops.
serves them right.
At least on Xbox One the service is fine, but it's really fucking annoying that seasons are put in as separate entries so you have to sift through several versions of the same program.
>have amazon gift card from christmas
>want to order DQ8 today since it came out
>It's sold out
>It's a nintendo game so it'll probably be $90 next time its back in stock
come the fuck on
I do get where you're coming from. They bumped the free shipping limit from 25 dollars to 50 at some point, shipping was very fast at least for me. Shit would arrive in like 3 days when it said wait for a week. I feel like that they intentionally made it worse so more people would buy into prime. To keep droning on, it's like they pulled a valve where they established very strong brand name recognition, but then cannot replicate the success they had when trying to branch out. Yet that brand name recognition is so strong they would have to intentionally try to fuck it up.
Fuck that blue amazon echo packing tape. That shit has about 0 percent adhesive on it and I've had a package practically arrive open and unsealed because of it. When I went on their website to tell them to fix it, the buttons would only let you select something wrong with the storefronts you bought from as if amazon themselves are too perfect to have a flaw in it.
>Open perfect looking package
>Game case has creases and dents all over it
>The UPC has been physically cut out for some reason
Never again.
>DQVI is $112
I use amazon.ca
>Stuff sold directly from amazon is usually fine but it isn't worth buying from them without prime.
>I haven't had a guaranteed delivery date missed and one at least one occasion I've had a shipment upgraded to one day shipping for free because they didn't get it out in time for two day shipping.
>The Marketplace is complete garbage and there's like a 90% chance anything you buy will just disappear in the mail for no fucking reason. I have no idea why I still give it the benefit of the doubt.
>They ALWAYS fuck up preorders. I'm currently waiting on GR2 to come back in stock despite having it preordered since preorders fucking went up.
my brother
i've "accidentally" run over a lot of things in racking because those inbound twats leave it sticking a foot out into the aisle
can't wait to cut and run after i get my stock
>go to look for games at Gametraders
>theres only two shelves for games
>the rest of the store is funkos, shitty vidya/anime swords, and dumbass card games
>even their anime/manga selection is shrinking for more shitty funkos
Why are retail stores so terrible?
...
Wait, Prime is two day shipping in America?
man even if they are assholes their is no reason to be an asshole to whoever's ordering that shit
Yes. A lot of the people in this thread live in cities or by warehouses. Those of us that live in the middle of nowhere know what true suffering is.
it's everyone's responsibility to notice that the item they're touching is damaged
not our fault the blind fucks don't take a second to notice something is crunched
At the end of the day, I don't know you or anyone else who is ordering shit. The only people I know are my slavedriving managers and by extension, Amazon's beliefs. Fuck Amazon and fuck my managers. Anything I can do to cost them money is worth the effort.
Sorry if your shit gets broken, but you have to understand the reasoning.
This is like blaming the customer for you spitting in their burger
Amazon EU is interesting in that you can order uncensored games from Amazon UK for cheaper prices, but it still gets delivered from the nearest Amazon warehouse (usually located in Poland) and arrives within a day.
>Two day shipping
>Discount vidya
>twitch prime
>Food delivered to my fat lazy ass
I for one welcome our Amazonian Goddesses.
I was about to buy into Amazon prime a bit ago but then I realized that most of the stuff I actually wanted to buy off of them wasn't even Amazon prime eligible. Other than that though I don't have any problems with Amazon. Wish I lived closer to the city so that I could benefit from Amazon Now and Amazon Fresh desu.
>preorder Gravity Rush 2 for dat discount
>receive email telling me my Guaranteed Delivery Date is January 20 by 8pm
>20th comes and goes
>no delivery
>receive email saying that they're still trying to get my product for me
>they're sold out online
>check stock at local vidya stores, lots of copies available but at full price
amazon pls
>They treat and pay their employees like shit.
I got a job at Amazon last year, it was my first job ever. I quit after a month. The pay is slightly above average compared to a McJob and they basically hire you on the spot, which is why you'll see almost nothing but human garbage working there.
I've worked in a postal distribution center. When there's a lot going on, we have about one second per package.
Your package looks "damaged"? Fuck you, we don't care. Off to the next cart/lorry/conveyor it flies, unless it's positively falling apart.
Over here people line up to work at Amazon. They pay way above minimum wage without asking for any degrees, so any bumfuck can start working there.
The alternatives are literally slave traders who send you to various companies while getting a huge cut of your wage and fire you as soon as they have no more work for you.
To offer consumers products at reasonable prices
fucking amazon not delivering my copy of Dragon Quest on time
Similar story here.
>Wanted to buy a bed set on Amazon that I really liked
>It was being sold by some third party seller in China I think with good ratings
>Guaranteed delivery date was sometime in Mid November
>Mid November comes and goes, no package
>Contact Amazon about it
>Get a full refund of around $120 in amazon credit
>December comes
>Get a random fucking package in the mail one day
>It's the fucking bedset that I bought the month before
>tfw
I ended up getting a free bedset and $120. It was pretty neat. Ended up buying a pair of headphones with the $120 and I had no problems with that package.
I think the moral of the story here is DON'T BUY FROM THIRD PARTY SELLERS (if it can be helped).
>order a few used games from the Amazon Warehouse Deals thingy because I've had good experiences in the past with them
>they've started putting massive ugly stickers on them that you can't get off without denting the case and leaving sticky residue
WHAT THE FUCK, AMAZON
fucking hate that blue tape shit they put on their boxes. Always fucks up and ya have to take it to problem solve place. so much time is wasted fixing it.
>Amazon Fresh
>tfw only recently found out you can buy fucking groceries on Amazon and that buying groceries on the internet was a thing
Does anybody here do that? I'm actually really curious as to just what that experience is like - buying groceries online. Just seems so surreal to me.
They hire people readily because they absolutely do not want anyone to stay long term and get benefits. The longer you stay, the more they will look for reasons to fire you. They also offer you better and better rewards for quitting the longer you stay.
The worst thing you can do to Amazon is stay long enough to get benefits.
Amazon being a less smelly turd in a mountain of shit doesn't make it any less of a turd.
My dad does. It's a lot like delivery food, except it's not cooked yet.
>preorder RE7 ages ago when it was $30 off
>select guaranteed release day shipping
>today it tells me it shipped
>arrives by Feb 2
WHAT THE FUCK
They are bigger than Google
Is Prime worth it lads? I mostly use Amazon for vidya and gunpla, with the occasional animu too.
The reason is that they haven't fired you yet.
Form a fucking union if you've got real beef with your employer.
LOL
They financed the best Rider series since Fourze, they're alright in my books.
>Amazon Fresh
>tfw only recently found out you can buy fucking groceries on Amazon and that buying groceries on the internet was a thing
It's pretty clear where this is going:
>Amazon undercuts all retail chains and kills them.
Now you are dependent on Amazon for your groceries
>Amazon raises prices and
>suddenly Amazon Prime is required to order food.
Now you pay more and wait longer for something eat.
It's a really, really stupid idea, but I fear enough people will fall for that shit.
i thought i was the only one pissed about this
They fire anyone and everyone that even hints at unionizing.
Funny story, they also have an anime network, but they suck at advertising
They said shipping, not arriving.
I get my money's worth. Then again I split the costs between my family and a few friends so it's cheap as fuck.
...
I wouldn't trust them to pick out rotting food, much less ripe ones.
On the matters Amazon handles, yes. Google tried to compete with Amazon a few times in the past with their own shit (Google Express, etc) and they flopped miserably. But that's entirely because Google just doesn't give a fuck enough about it to actually try competing seriously with Amazon.
If Google actually wanted to put Amazon out of business, they could.
Anything including delivery will never be able to undercut discounters.
Also, monopoly prevention will kick in before that happens, and they know it.
>tfw live right next to an Amazon warehouse
I'm a NEET with no prior job experience, and I hear they're hiring literally anybody and everybody willing.
Should I go apply, Sup Forums?
If you're desperate or hate yourself, sure.
At worst, you're a part time wageslave working with nogs
At best, you'll maybe get a sick 10 percent discount or something.
yea nigga make money
If you want to see first hand what wagecuckery is, yes.
I've heard good things from people on their engineering staff.
sucks to be you guys, I live beside the major shipping center and get my stuff on the day after I order usually.
You'd be better off at McDonald's
yeah, hope ya like walking thou
I want to make sure that my local amazon warehouse won't fuck up my preorder AGAIN. Who do I raise hell with to make sure they do something about it? I'm normally fine about this stuff, but I have Prime, and I'll be damned if I lose out on release day shipping because of the company's own incompetence.
gotta call the fc but they might just put it on the wrong truck if you do that
To annoy Canadians by offering inferior selections.
