You have 5 seconds to explain why this game receives such a ridiculous amount of hatred.
You have 5 seconds to explain why this game receives such a ridiculous amount of hatred
It wasn't that one, it was new generation. Completely different game basically all around.
Reminder that this game is on sale for $3 on PSN right now
Because it fucks over many play styles due to that faggy parry mechanic. To the people who's parrying helped them it was fun and enjoyable butti everyone opposite of that it was lame and super underwhelming.
>implying most people are good enough to the point where the parry system fucks them up consistently
Because it introduced best girl, her ninja rival, cancer incarnate, Q(uestions), CRUSHKILLDESTROY, old gold dick, Black Ken, Online/Flowchart Ken, the Twins, greatest potato, and the greatest motherfucking gentleman in all of video games. And some other guys.
No other game can compete.
>tfw i cant parry anything other than fireballs and if i do its by accident
>took out all but 2 of the OG's of 2 (and alpha).
>parries.
>Super mix up focus/heavy.
>because of the higher quality of animations, input >feels a bit wonky at times.
>weird characters.
those are some of the things i can think of off the top of my head. i still love the game, still hate parries.
Parries
It practically killed the ground game.
I still like it though
Hello.
>have no money for 5 days due to bills and debts
fuck
The parry mechanic completely wrecks the rock paper scissors mechanic every 2d fighter is dependent on.
The amount of people here complaining about parries as if most people can actually parry anything...embarrassing
Its a Street Fighter game where using an anti air against a jumpin can be the wrong decision.
That alone makes it objectively shit.
this
half the people who play on fightcade have been playing it for a long time, shit sucks when you play against someone who can parry literally everything. i would know, this one time, i played against a super good urien. knew unblockables, never drop combos and parried all my moves. made me stop playing for half a year. still like the game tho
Always loved seeing OGs like Valle and Choi chucking fireballs like they're still a thing
>But once again like I said earlier, what people think passes for "mind games" makes me cringe.
>What parry does to the overall mind game of SF reduces the game to "I thought he was gonna do this, but he did that and I was surprised.". This is to SF/2-D fighting mind games what Green Eggs and Ham is to literature.
>The positional aspect of mind games is negated (poking to prod a jump/sash/run/crouch/lay down) because the strongest defensive aspect is still there. The distance element of mind games is mostly negated since the whole cast fights at the same distance.
shit like dhalsim and guile sonic boom or sagat fuck you in the ass with tiger shot character archetypes are fucking gay, what you're describing is a positive
fighting is meant to be up close and fast, not zoning from fullscreen like a faggot sucking on a dildo
Parry COMPLETELY eliminates fireballs usefulness.
Besides most people who do have an opinion you should care about are good at fighting
>add epin rubber man clone to fill out a specific niche
>make him look like shit and obviously make his normals slow to balance out the fact that they got stupid range without realizing that this means that everybody will always be able to parry all of his moves on reaction
>didnt even bother giving him a fireball because why would you in a game like 3s
Shits retarded. Multiple cases of fuckups like that in the THIRD entry of the SF3 series where they shouldve known better.
Game also has characters that are minus on hit on most of their moves. Its a massive retarded clusterfuck.
Also reminder:
youtube.com
Ps3 or 4?
SFV would also like a word.
You probably haven't played Third Strike back before SF4, people were actually a lot better than what you see in Online Edition.
>what is safe jumps
>what is dive kicks
But ya, I get your point. This is an extreme that throws risk/reward out the window
No it wouldnt you fucking retard.
Im SFV you cant just jump at a fucktard and then parry his anti air or empty jump throw turning something that is supposed to be a hard read into a fucktarded 50/50.
3s is the worst SF game.
lolwut
There is no PS4 version.
>tfw Capcom ported fucking UMvC3 to PS4, PC, and Xbone with both digital and physical versions, but didn't re-release 3S on PS4 or MvC2 on PSN for PS3
youtu.be
stop fucking whining and get creative, or even better, git gud
third strike is by far the most interesting and fun sf because of how it shakes up the formula in an exciting way and really lets you be freeform in how you go about things
fuck off back to shit turbo
That's SF3 in general, not 3S you doofus
They are ST and Alpha players. They are essentially playing the game wrong and get blown up by those who do, like the japanese that flew over to show the west how stupid this game is.
But 3s is the definitive edition.
Fuck off retard. I dont need a gay video to show me how stupid anti airing is in turd strike. Everybody knows it by now.
Game is fucking dead and thats a good thing and nobody will ever repeat its fuckups.
>it shakes it up so it's fun
By creating 5 viable characters all played dogmatically samey due to parry.
This argument has never held any water. It's the most pigeonholed entry in the franchise, not the most liberating.
Reminder that starting with 3s as your first fighting game will fuck with your brain and you will never be able to transition to real fighting games because it teaches you things backwards.
PS4 version when
>bitch about ST
>ST has more viable characters than 3S
Characters that won an evo in ST
>Dhalsim
>Ryu
>Boxer
>O. Sagat
>Bison
>Vega
>Ken
Characters that have won an evo in 3S:
>yun
>chun li
>like the japanese that flew over to show the west how stupid this game is.
Glorious
youtube.com
>game is fucking dead
>just had a ~500 person tournament a couple weeks ago
tell me when that happens for ultra you cuck lmao
>5 characters all played the same
>I have never played or even watched any 3rd strike before
I feel way more free playing it than fucking sfv where every fucking situation boils down to meaty medium punch on wakeup or a throw shimmy with 7 fucking frames of input lag
It was never popular to begin with.
>character selection turtle against JWong
Brilliant
Parries should have cost meter, but if you Parry an attack with multiple hits, each parry in that attack should cost less, i.e. parrying 15 hit Supers is possible if you have meter to parry the first 3 or 4 hits. It shouldn't have been too expensive, but just expensive enough to reduce your options as the cost for allowing the opponent to attack you at all.
Red Parries should have been an input, so that there would be a downside to fucking them up and you technically would have to predict, not react to an opponent.
You should gain a bit of meter if your projectiles were parried.
>the number of viable characters is the exclusive factor that determines the game's worth
17er logic
also posting evo results like old american 3s actually meant anything is dumb as shit
>game is dead
>has the most people, next with KOF 98 and 02 in fightcade
yeah, nah
>punch air till you have enough meter
>low forward into super
>rinse and repeat
>tfw friend and I's first fighting game was 3S
>Learned neutral through Dudley and Ibuki
SFIV was a harsh wake-up call.
Its the whole smogon thing. Why choose the less than optimal when the optimal is available? One would think that fundamentally goes against fighting games, but certain strats with the top tier are just that good. But thats the meta game.
This goes back to the point of we, as in us currently in this thread, are trash. Thats fair, but then its pretty rushdown casually cause parry fucks up jump ins, oki, and zoning, so its the same as any fighter in that aspect. gamefeel is up there, tho
>five nerds on fightcade means that the game is alive
where were you when alex won coop cup?
the only thing starting with 3s did was teach me how fucking lame other fighting games are
Because of it's fanbase.
nvm wrong final
lmao
>I have never played or even watched any 3rd strike before
Nigger I have played and watched 3S in east and west Japan.
>5 characters that base half of their game around parry is liberating
>implying the japs weren't at evo in force since 2004
Mkay.
>Japanese gods of SF attain godhood for their ST exploits
>except that one guy that had some success in 3S as a non S tier character
Truly winning with makoto is a super human feat.
i still think parries were the most brilliant mechanic ever introduced into a fighting game. it's a shame it didn't work out, balance-wise
>why this game receives such a ridiculous amount of hatred.
NO CAMMY!
3S's problem was largely not that Chun/Yun/Ken were overpowered, but that half of the cast is completely garbage.
Some of them don't even have hitconfirms at all.
>if I keep saying it it must be true
you realize a fucking Alex just won coop cup this year
either way character balance is the most overrated fucking thing, it doesn't matter when the game is so much more fun to play and watch than pretty much everything else
Its kinda both. There's such a giant gap between top and bottom that it makes me wonder how this game couldve been made by one team.
I dare anybody to play Chun Li for an hour and then switch over to Q, and I mean actually play him and not just jerk off to his fedora online.
This is the closest we've ever had to a caste system in a fighting game.
I think the non-Street Fighter Capcom fighters get a lot more hate than 3S does. Simply because they're not Street Fighter.
ITT retarded casuals and scrubs
Mh, yes, 2017 tournaments for a 15+ year old game where all the good players moved on is totally indicative of the games balance and quality.
Was Kuroda even there?
Shouting BUT ITS FUN is also the best argument I have ever seen.
yes and the otherguy said "it introduced" then proceeded to talk about SF3 in a 3S thread
yay topical cul-de-sac
yup, only five people are on tonight. it is pretty late but good numbers. sorry people playing a game you dont like upsets you man
They dont get hate. They are irrelevant. They get ignored.
well considering the game hasn't been patched yes it is indicative of the game's balance and quality
Chun, Yun, Ken feel good to play though. They're very solid characters and they have good options.
Even some of the high tiers besides them feel kind of awful in some ways.
That being said Chun SA2 probably shouldn't juggle after and Genei Jin should probably have a slightly longer meter.
>less people online across the globe than some games get in weekly locals in one location
>half of them idling as usual
You have convinced me.
Balance in 3s isn't that bad, you just suck. If Q can get off his taunts (which isn't that hard) He's B- (think ryu, oro) or B tier (think akuma, urien)
Chun is retarded but at the very least it forced you to really take the matchup seriously.
kuroda is a stinky autist that hasn't gone to a tournament in years, he's irrelevant at this point
literally all the top 3s talent was at this tourney, even the good american guys from New York and Texas flew to fucking Japan to compete for no prize money just because they love the game that much
again, come back to me when sleep fighter 4 has 500 people in a tournament for no money 15+ years after its release
Jesus Christ you've absolutely lost your marbles at this point.
>Balance in 3s isn't that bad
LMAO
Balance is that bad. You've never played anyone decent if you think Q stands a chance.
He has some matchups that he's decent in but he should still get rolled by twins and makoto.
There's no need to, because those SF4 players moved onto a new game that has 5000 people tournaments because they didnt learn fighting games wrong on purpose by starting and staying with an assbackwards fucktarded game.
>They are irrelevant.
Darkstalkers sold more than and influenced the genre as a whole more than SF3.
Best thing about turd strike is that its fanboys are all retarded and absolutely incapable of defending their garbage game without sperging out in the most incoherent way.
SF3 is much less relevant overall, a gigantic flop that nobody liked, but its also part of the SF legacy so it had some standards to uphold.
Shit ended up being the red headed stepchild on downs while also attracting one of the most vocal and retarded fanbases so of course people will hate.
What are some good tournaments I can watch on YouTube of Third Strike
You're retarded and i'm the best 3s player on Sup Forums by far.
Q is C+ tier, he's about as strong as remy, hugo, ibuki, alex, necro all of which can win if you are good, even if not as consistently or easily as top tiers. It's easier to win with Q in 3s than it is to win with cammy in ST, and cammy can win in ST.
3s is very well balanced outside chun/yun/ken/makoto/dudley and it's not like there are a shitton of 8/10 matchups or low tier characters are shallow lacking tools and strategies.
check out theShend metric shitons of gamespot versus tourneys
>those players moved on from a shit game they don't care about to another shit game they don't care about because it has money pumped into its corpse and go to tournaments where 5000 people registered before the game came out but a fraction of that actually showed up because they couldn't give half of a shit
wow what a compelling argument
fyi momochi, haitani, mov, and nuki all entered the 3s tournament and had a fucking great time, when's the last time you saw anyone this happy playing SFV?
>i'm the best 3s player on Sup Forums by far.
What name do you go by? What tournaments have you won?
It's been awhile since I've played but I'm down if you think you're decent. What's your FC?
>it doesnt count when people play other games rather than sticking to the same old turd because thats all they know! all those people also have NO fun. Its artificial enjoyment!
Jesus Christ.
Cruise
I don't remember Cruise having that big of an ego
>went to Revo (anime fighter tournament) last year
>everyone playing anime games at their station
>some guy starts shouting about that they should play a man's game instead
>he's playing Remy on a 3S station
>playing a video game because of the passion and the pride of being the best in a game you love
vs
>playing a game for the money
almost every top SFV player has expressed their distaste for the game, why don't you listen to what the fucking EVO champ has to say about it
youtu.be
>almost every top SFV player has expressed their distaste for the game
lmao
3s fanboys THIS desperate because their game is shit and dead.
If you want to play my fightcade is Y'golonac
open to anyone else too.
>what the fucking EVO champ has to say about it
after he became washed up and went 0-2 in Capcom Cup*
third strike will never die
I bet my left kidney people will still be playing it in 2027
Pic
Coop cup is really not indicative TOP level 3s. People arent taking it as seriously as they would if money were in the line.
So yes, if you live in tokyo and have access to a community of good players, 3s is just as good as any other game
Fucking amen.
Absolutely. ST won't ever die either, especially with Capcom's shitty meme updates to it (USF2 will have throw teching and no option for classic ST gameplay) lacking any chance of superseding it
Throw teching is something ST desperately needed.
USF2 will be fucking busted though if they keep Violent Ken like that so nobody will bother anyways.
I think you're underestimating the pride of 3s guys, especially in the team format where you got 4 other niggas cheering you on and who you have to not disappoint
Why are third entries always the GOAT?
thats like the seventh entry.
people are taking it seriously. The problem is the old gods of 3s are rusty, getting older and don't play it as much. There is a new generation getting better and the game is still evolving which is why it wasn't a bloodbath.
If we compare top level 3s in it's prime (considering the meta at the time) with it now player skill isn't quite as impressive, but give it time.
Money had little to do with it, especially in single elimination. The random format encourages lesser used characters and a team to fall back on lets people choose who they want to play, it also makes top tiers less dominant. People always play seriously in tournaments regardless of money, money just adds pressure which can hurt performance or encourages more practice before hand.
