Why not? Humans can be druids too.
nu-WoW
Holy level of Troll Priests seem awkward though.
Only dwarves from Wildhammer clan can be shamans.
The wildhammer clan is more in tune with nature and the spirits
Supposedly, they learned it from the wildhammer dwarfs who are less about digging and getting shitfaced, and more about camping and getting shitfaced.
cool
Wait with baited breath for night elf paladins to come in the expansion where the tell you elune is a naaru.
iirc it is well known that elune is a naaru since vanilla
no, fuck you
naaru didn't even existed in vanilla
Honestly? Its because they wanted another race on the Alliance side to be able to play shamans besides the blue goats.
No other race fit the bill, they strung up some bullshit about the wildhammer clan
Typical Blizzard lore post-wc3
the real question is why chinese furries can be shamans
also, they can be mages too, wtf.
>strung up some bullshit about the wildhammer clan
they've always been shamanistic though baka
dark irons were more magic based such as warlocks and mages and shit
all the leaders just came to a union for poolysm
Wildhammer clan, nigger
>didn't existed
Legion has a nelf paladin, so...
you know, I still play legion
but one of the things I liked the most about vanilla (I played back in vanilla through WotLK, left after that, returned for legion) was the restrictive class/race combinations. I play a dwarf shaman (mostly because my guild are alliance faggots), but I fucking loved how only horde could be shamans and Alliance could be paladins.
It makes me angry that Blizzard is caving in to these "let me be anything I want" fucking normie cunts. I watched a vid of this year's Blizzcon Q&A and there were at least 4 females asking why their goblins couldn't be paladins or whatever other retarded class.
>why their goblins couldn't be paladins
jeez, I don't even know why goblins can be priests or shamans
It's just cucked mage same way dwarf are just cucked human.
'pls Mr. Fire Elemental can you cast fireball on that crab? Neee 10 their asses fir a quest'
>cucked mage
I've always thought that shamans are better than mages, at least lore wise.
I mean, who can wear mail? exactly
what shit meme
Mages turn Nature into their bitch, Shamans are Nature's bitches turning into low level mail warrior when Nature doesn't like something.
>Mages turn Nature into their bitch
Mages have nothing to do with nature, all their spells are arcane technically
Exploiting the light and the elements to their own ends
The most memorable example of Goblin Priests I'll always think of is this one quest in Azshara where you call in parachuting priests to resurrect fallen fighters...and immediately bill them for it
why are manlets even allowed to exist?
The fact that night elves can be mages angers me
why tho?
Why can undead be death knights?
>denounce the arcane arts and exile the highborne after what happened in the war of the ancients
>cata hits
>lol totally fine to use it now you guys
what's the problem with them being death knights'
They are Forsaken, aka formerly living humans who were freed from the Lich King's control and follow Sylvanus now. So how does one end up under the Lich King's control again in order to become a Death knight? Or how does a death knight, someone formerly under the Lich King's control, turn into a forsaken under the Lich King's control after already breaking otu of it?
They broke free, but died again and got broken back in
Corpses are very cooperative
I was under the impression that the faction of the undead were former humans. Aren't deathknights in general undead versions of their former race aswell? What's the difference then between a human death knight (who is undead) and an "undead" death knight?
And going even further, why is the undead human death knight in the alliance while the undead undead death knight in the horde
I wish they would give player characters alternate race skins like Wildhammers and Dark Irons for dwarves.
NE Mages are the Shen'dralar hiding in Dire Maul. Dwarven mages are supposed to be a Dark Iron-only affair too.
Death Knights of the Ebon Hold are supposed to be the fallen champions Arthas gathered from vanilla. i.e. Forsaken that wiped in Naxxaramas.
Worgen DKs are a bit more iffy. They are likely gathered from vanilla Silverpine but supposedly you can't be Undead when you're a Worgen.
It only makes sense if you go with and somehow assume, that in one case an undead human being who was under the control of the lich king frees himself again but identifies as a human and not a Forsaken and joins the alliance as death knight and in the other case that an undead human who is already free of the lich king and part of the Forsaken picks up being a death knight as a career I suppose?
>Worgen and Goblins can be Death-Knights
>Inb4 b-but m-muh Sons of Arugal
...
Honestly Goblin priests make sense because from the very beginning Shadow Priests have been a thing, and Undead Priests in the Undercity. Priest magic is clearly something that you can direct at anything you're passionate about or believe in.
The only time Paladins haven't ever been goody two shoes was the Blood Knights and they even did away with that, which is a shame, I thought it was DEEPEST LORE.
The original Priests were Elves
I never thought it much of a stretch that they too would be on good enough terms with the Light to have Paladins
Did Quel'Thalas ever have gods of their own?
Canonically, blood elf paladins are still blood knights and they draw power from the purified Sunwell instead of a naaru
Why would Tyrande suddenly accept the Shen'dralar? They had been exiles ever since the war of the ancients and then suddenly they're okay and we need to use the arcane arts. She and Furion of all people should remember what happened because of the use of the arcane
The Highbourne had Elune and the whole Night Elf pantheon
And they could have just done paladins straight up but they decided to be different and have the Blood Knights stealing Naaru magic because it fit the tone with warlocks and manathistle addicts, the crazed fel elves and shit, and the alliance with the Forsaken at Ghost Hill.
I'm not saying "they should have kept the name blood knight" because the name doesn't really matter, I'm saying "they committed to making light-stealing evil paladins of edge", they should've stuck with it. It was interesting.
Honestly, Blizzard can do whatever they want with their lore as long as it feels developed and extant. Having the Blood Knight enclave with the imprisoned Naaru was cool. If only every race/class combination had something so unique.
Hell, I'd be thrilled about Goblin Shamans if the Goblin Slums had their own shamanic bargaining house where they wheel and deal with the elements for contracts. That kind of detail is great and really makes your choice of race/class combination feel interesting.
>Well there's a lot of crazy shit going on and we can't really turn down firepower at the mo, so you guys can stay but you have to keep it sensible, aright?
>OK we promise
Wham
>It's just cucked mage same way dwarf are just cucked human.
Literally all classes are cucked version of each other at this point, with less buttons in their rotation than League of Legends.
It's not really that sudden. Aside from the Shen'Dralar quests in vanilla (fucking librams), there was a quest in WoTLK where a NE archmage sought an audience with Darnassus.

>we promise
>it's not like some of us had to imprison a demon to sate our hunger for magic
You can't trust them
This.
All mage magic is arcane magic manipulated into other forms. Shamanism draws from the elemental planes of the land. In old lore there is actually 5 elements, the fifth being wild, now known as druidism.
Not everyone shares your BIGOTED PREJUDICES
should point to
Don't they both start in that one Northrend zone together though?
t. highborne scum
Also half the races in the game tolerate straight-up demon-vomiting Warlocks, so forest-fuckers being allowed to throw fizzles around again isn't that outrageous
>with less buttons in their rotation than League of Legends.
This is bullshit hyperbole and you know it.
I play an enhancement shaman and the absolute minimum combat rotation usable is 5 abilties - stormstrike, flametongue, boulderfirst, doom winds, and lava lash. I am personally specced to regularly use a 6th, crash lightning. A viable, and arguably better, talent spec makes use of a 7th (windsong instead of boulderfist, meaning you add an ability and have to use baseline rockbiter instead). If I had hailstorm (previously best option, the nerfed, now buffed again so likely viable) I would have to maintain an 8th, frostbrand. I am using a passive talent to buff one skill that is viable, but arguably less effective then the passive boosting lightning bolt, which I currently do not use much since it is just cherry tapping anyway, but could put a 9th viable skill into rotation. I'm also using another passive talent that is also a buff to rockbiter/boulderfist but would mean a 10th ability if not for that.
That's just the basic rotation. BASIC. I also routinely use : sprint, defensive cooldown, wolves, interrupt, self-heal, ghost wolf form, wolf leap, hex, and AOE stun.
There's also heroism, cleanse, and my draenei self-heal.
In pvp I also have counterstrike totem used regularly, and honor talents have 2 other potential abilities in play (medallion plus a shaman ability).
So explain to me how that's "less than LOL", fuckwit.
I have `, 1-8, shift 1-4, LMB, MMB, RMB, shift+LMB/MMB/RMB already in play, several things I click manually, and all this is without even adding in other talented stuff I don't use, trinkets, macros, etc.
You call it dumbed down but how the fuck am I supposed to use more than what I have already? I'd need a 3rd hand to start using them.
I think the class that has the most fucked up lore is the Hunter class.
In vanilla they basically lumped all the existing ranged-weapon-using or pet-taming archetypes from the RTS games into one single class.
>Beastmasters
>Dwarven Marksmen
>Elven Rangers
>Dark Rangers
>Shadow Hunters
>etc.
It's still a weird clusterfuck even now. Like how is it that Dwarf hunters can summon dark minions? Everyone can Arcane shot...? Is Rexxar really a Survivalist or a Beastmaster?
I bet Blizz wish they could delete Warlocks and replace them entirely with Demon Hunters.
They've already deleted Demonology Warlocks so you're not far from being right.
In vanilla it was at least justified in that most warlock covens were holed off from the rest of society and cities like Stormwind didn't even know they had warlocks in their midst. They kinda lost all pretense of subtlety from then sadly.
...
I said time and time again 'Demon Hunters wont happen, Blizz have given all their abilities to other classes'
Never thought they'd straight-up take Metamorphosis away from Locks to do it, but I do like the idea that it's actually about summoning small hordes of gribbies now instead
Yeah hunters are pretty clusterfucked in terms of theme. I don't even know what Blizzard is trying to do for warriors anymore either. They're trying real hard to push this vrykul Odyn theme and it just doesn't fit the grand majority of warrior players.
All warriors need is ways to get stuck in and exemplify their physical might and prowess
Valhalla is just new digs
Dark rangers and shadow hunters are very much their own thing
But are they enough for a whole class? With three different specs each?
>t. butthurt Night Elf player
No
>Blizzard actually for once sacks up and straight up says no to a combo because it makes no sense
>QA still lets this through because they're salty their fursona can't be a dk
Every fucking time.
Most named characters are all or a mix of two specs in terms of game play specs obviously aren't a thing in the lore.
Rexxar for example is a survival beastmaster.
Swinging a two handed weapon around in each hand isn't?
And have you seen the size of Strom'Kar?
I swear to god one of their designers must have a scat fetish. There's always ALWAYS some kind of either quest or reference to shit or shitting in every expansion. It's gone beyond just a running gag now.
Id be completely fine with Skyhold if it wasn't for the fact that it's supposed to be Vrykul exclusive. If Odyn was simply gathering Azeroth's strongest warriors from the horde, the alliance and everybody in between there then it'd be awesome. That being said, Ragnvald's growing on me. He's fine.
I'm not the only one who thought the Fury artifact should've been Varian's sword am I?
>Survival beastmaster
Did you forget that hunters had baseline melee abilities
>Dalaran sewers has a fucking demonic gate to a (former) legion world filled to the brim with warlocks
>A flying island nearby has a functioning portal to yet another legion world
I bet Khaddy green-lighted all of it, the absolute madman
Have you played the Warlock campaign? It starts with the Council of Black Harvest blocking off the entire sewer and summoning a fuckhuge demon in the Circle of Wills (right in the middle)
Mogu magic
>They're helping... I guess?
what is this autopsy meme
The ones that were deleted a decade ago and only just came back in legion in a dedicated melee spec.
wew lad
Gnome Hunters.
Gnome Hunters?
Gnome Hunters!
Hunters can now learn track mechanical via engineer-made item
Makes sense.
Literally made out of stone assholes who shit into lava and live in the frostiest areas.
They are much closer to the elements than any other playable race.
I don't mind Anduin wielding it so long as he actually uses it. I'd love for him to grow into a paladin and become a true champion of the Light for the Alliance. It'd be fitting.
He'll probably stay a priest but marry Yrel or something.
ACTUAL CANON ANSWER
Magni Bronzebeard communed with the spirits, and got turned to stone but made a pact with the elements so Ironforge Dwarves could become Shamans.
But will he be a healslut?
Why can't this game just die like every other MMO?
wildhammers have been casting lightning and fire with their hammers since wc2
you wc3babby
Impressive.
