Alright, give it to me straight. Is the creator self-aware or not. His perseverance always struck me as excessive for a mere joke (thorough coloring and fixing of pages which despite the shit art must have taken hours)
Very early on, when TGT got discovered, everyone was pushing the "it's on purpose" angle, but when I looked into it, the author seemed honest about it, and really believed the feedback was because his story was "epic"

Both. I stand by the idea that he started it sincerely but he had enough self-awareness to poke fun at his own mistakes like backwards cigarettes or weird typos. Then he slowly improved his art.

Certain parts were made after Lazerbot gained enough experience, of course they look better than what he started with. I do think he's a very talented comedian, though. High shovel, Knuckles waking up next to Donkey Kong, Teemo respawning and heaps of other jokes are genuinely great comedy.
