It's a joke how Nintendo publicly acted as if the Switch wasn't going to replace the Wii U or 3DS. Clearly the Wii U is obsolete after BOTW since Nintendo was like the only constant developer. The 3DS might take more time to replace because it gets ~some~ games. However, both have been cracked open to piracy and emulation.

I feel the Switch ran with the Wii U's idea of playing games off of the TV screen. Except now, instead of being tethered to a TV, it is fully mobile if you want to be or not. For me, that's pretty nice. However, like always, the system needs GAMES to be successful. I'm not exactly optimistic.

Switch zelda looks way better, but the hardware in them has no similarities at all. Wii u uses an ATI vliw chip, it can't do modern games cuz everyone devs on pc and pc uses unified programmable shaders. I imagine porting to wii u is about as fun as putting your balls in a vice.

To be fair, the screenshots were comparing an 8 month old WiiU version that might be on par with the Switch version by now, and it still had better lighting than the Switch version.

If you can actually read Nip, then you won't have a problem. If you're getting the Switch version you can just set the console's region to Japan and you'll get your Japanese VA. Of course, everything else will be in Japanese, but that won't be a problem for you. If you're getting the Wii U version then you can either use a region free method and import it, or just pirate the Japanese version later.

However, yes, the whole situation sucks for those who want Japanese VA but can't actually read Japanese.
