Pillars of Eternity 2

New companion?

Seems like it
Reads like a fishman paladin to me based on that icon and quote

We already have Pallegina confirmed and I doubt they'd have two companions of the same class.

Cannons are cool. I want cannons.

has there been any news since that survey about the collectors edition, haven't really paid attention

Been looking through Sawyer's teasing pictures that he's been releasing for the past year. Maybe this is the guy's portrait.

Pillars of Eternity has a really bad track record with the fishmen people. Both Kana Rua and Meneha sucked. I'm not too optimistic about this guy either.

Wait, so you can use combined skills in dialogue?

Kana was a pretty cool guy.

Nothing yet. The fig campaign should start at the end of the countdown, five days from now, I'm sure they'll have all that physical shit announced as fig backer rewards.

>they actually scammed enough people to fund a sequel

Yeah, that's what he wanted to show off. I also just literally realized that the three portraits that are highlighted in that dialogue option are the other three companions that have already been confirmed.

actually they got tricked into thinking they were investors

We don't know that yet. They're gonna try a fig campaign. It's possible they fail.

I hope it will be set in an actually interesting location this time instead of in the middle of bumfuck nowhere

Every character not written by avellone was fucking awful, literally every single fucking one. Now he doesn't even write for them anymore, all that's left is bioware tier writing

Deadfire Archipelago is both bumfuck nowhere and a very interesting place.

You didn't like Eder? Wtf.

The bigger Obsidian fanboys already decoded the website symbols over in their forums. All the letters for each update spell out "Deadfire"

It's gonna be in Deadfire Archipelago and Sawyer hinted that you'll travel to a few other places too, such as the Vailian Republics.

>Deadfire Archipelago and Vailian Republics

Now that sounds cool.

The inevitable WEWUZ posting not so much but I'll take what I can get.

Zahua was excellent.
Edér was maximum comfy.
Aloth, Sagani, Pallegina and Hiravias were interesting enough and alright.
I'd put Grieving Mother around Aloth's and Pallegina's level, too. Durance in particular was the character that was one step above the others.

no fuck you, grieving mother was dumb

zahua, eder, aloth, and hiravias were better than that bitch

Still looking through Sawyer's teaser pictures in his twitter and instagram reveals a fuckload about this game

A large part of the game is gonna focus on nautical adventure, you'll own your own ship and your island.

Oh no, I hope it's not Risen 1/2 all over again.

Here's a map he posted. The file says "PoE 2 World Map"

Not familiar with the series, what changed between those two? And wasn't Risen always about pirates?

...

Not the first one, it looked like standard medieval fantasy.

>Deadfire Archipelago
Does that mean sea monster battles?

That's what the lead artist was implying on their forums

pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Monsters_of_the_Deadfire_Archipelago

what

As if you needed any more confirmation that this was gonna be a nautical adventure, these are the two pictures shown in the PoE presentations that were new and not from the first game.

Oh, and this

This, people only suck grieving mother's dick because she's written by avellone, she's not particularly interesting.

They suck her dick because she was the closest thing to a waifu in that game

That statue/spirit in Caed Nua is a true waifu.

Pallegina was probably closest to a waifu

I'm optimistic. White March really improved the game mechanically, so I think this will at least be fun to play. Probably will have a standard RPG story but that's ok.

>IS IT MUH FALLOUT?
EVERY FUCKING TIME WITH THESE NIGGERS

Making your ship the stronghold makes much more sense than having a whole island dedicated to it.

>Kana was a pretty cool guy.
His voice actor sucked balls

>yet another open-world choose-ur-morality isometric RPG
wow this will surely be interesting and not an inferior retread of a genre which had its heyday twenty years ago nope

>open-world
I don't think you know what that means

That's the best part, yes. The lore of PoE says that ENORMOUS SEA MONSTERS are the reason sea travel is hard, and Deadfire Archipelago has some really dangerous ones.

I want a dungeon inside this motherfucker

>Imagine the largest whale you have ever seen. The leviathan is at least ten times that size. By the time a ship sees a leviathan, it is already too late. As they rise from the depths, the water around them begins to spin and sink, creating a whirlpool. The leviathan's body surrounds the hapless vessel, preventing escape, and as it goes down, the enormous mouth opens, pulling all aboard to their watery deaths.

oh fuck yes, fighting disgusting parasites and maybe some crazed survivors

>His voice actor sucked balls
I can't believe they used him for Barick in Tyranny. Ruined his fucking character for me. Guy was a walking tin can and sounded gay as fuck.

Imagine meeting these guys:

>Polpovir

>All the creatures you've read about in this book are nothing compared to the Polpovir. Barely the size of a man, what they lack in size and strength, they make up for in numbers and terrifying viciousness. Their lower halves are a mass of tentacles like an octopus or squid, but more numerous. The tentacles are long, black whips with suction cups on the underside and small thorny barbs on the top. The sheer number of tentacles gives them frightening speed when walking on land, pulling themselves forward almost as fast as a running horse. While they vaguely resemble a human from the waist up, any extended examination proves how wrong that assumption is. Long, stringy black hair falls from the top of their heads to cover a face taken directly from a nightmare. A wide, gaping mouth, cuts across the bottom of its head from ear to ear, full of wicked dagger-like teeth. Two large round eyes are sunken into its head, black as coal, shining with a malevolent fire. A small antenna protrudes from the middle of its forehead, ending in a small nodule that can glow with an eerie blue light. One can imagine a sailor on the deck of his ship at night, looking out across the black water, blood freezing as countless lights appear beneath the surface, rising toward him as the Polpovir swarm upward. Because they seem to be more octopus than man, they can collapse in on themselves, fitting into spaces no person should be able to. The smallest crack in a hull, the slightest separation between boards offers them entrance. It is not unknown for them to slaughter an entire crew from hold up to deck by infiltrating the ship from underneath. Fortunately they do not seem to have spread too far outside of the archipelago, but there may come a day when Polpovir attacks become commonplace.

dungeons inside huge fish are the lamest thing ever

I hated both the OoT one as well as the one from DMC:3

Yeah, I really dislike that guy. He sounds like he's on theater.

probably because fallout 1, 2, and nv are all better than tyranny and PoE you fucking moron

I liked him a lot.

You think if those people liked Fallout so much they would bother to do some basic fucking research.

the guy that said
>new fallout amirite

was OBVIOUSLY being sarcastic because he knew it wasnt fallout and was probably disappointed about it.

I want to kill rpg codex.

I didn't like the depth of the lore in PoE. There was nowhere to read or recap the stories behind every event, god and shit. The moment you walk into location you're drowning in information about wars, battles that happened years ago and yet nobody explains what were they about unless you meet some specific character later on. Fuck, I'd kill for a Morrowind like thing where you could click on a name to learn about background/spoiler]

Fallout 1 and 2 are among the greatest RPGs of all time

PoE > NV

>We already have Pallegina confirmed

of all the fucking characters to bring back why did it have to be the birdbitch

the only good thing about her existence was the druid talking about her cloaca

Part of the game is gonna take place in the Vailian Republics so it makes sense to have her as the guide-character, so to speak.

He's Sawyer's character and he's still the lead developer of this game.

Are you still playing as the same guy as in the 1st one?
I havent finished it yet, dont know if I should save my saves

He's basically confirmed that, yes, it will be the same character and you should keep your saves.

Let's get this shit started
>REAL TIME WITH PAUSE

No thanks, I don't like rtwp but this is one of the only not-shit threads on the board right now.

I prefer it to turn based, though I can play both.

Turn based is objectively better, but I don't mind RTWP either, especially when PoE is the only game that does it.

Wish there was some autistic PoE fan that put all the lore books and dialogues in a wiki. I liked a lot of the world-building but nearly all of it is lost to my shoddy memory.

How can someone be so wrong about something?

Why are all the races so boring?

Every time I hear rumblings about this game I want to try it again but it's so damn BORING.

>PoE lore is boring maymay

The lore and world-building is pretty decent, it's just the races that are kinda meh.

They are fantasy classics, which is fine, but sequel could add some more.

True.
No party infighting, romance or companions who aren't neutral aligned. Big part of BG2 fun was watching party interactions, like cat fights or Korgan bully wingless slut.
Oh and both Dyrwood and natives fucking suck. Both pisses me off.

I had the same problem. I had to take a break from playing the game and I after a month I remembered nothing. Thank god there was that recap in journal but I wish it had more details.

There was literally a journal that had articles on all the lore

Yeah, and the most interesting bits of lore such as the Saint's War and Durance's backstory aren't even there, or if they are, they're barely extended on.

How viable are melee fighters in PoE? other than monks/rogues or fucking tanks. I love plain soldiers.

Fighters are excellent tanks. Paladins arguably even better.

I don't care about romance. But party members should mingle...

They have their unique banter between them in and out of combat

I don't want to be a fucking tank, I want to dish out damage with my sword.

then fucking build for it

Barbarian, then.

Inb4 no combat XP

NV > FO1 > FO2

You are out of your god damn mind

Try Rogue, PoE rogues are more like "fighters that fight dirty" than "backstabbers with double daggers".

FO1: great, but too short and lacks in content.
FO2: a lot more content, too much of it is bad though.
NV: just the right balance.

Neither game is flawless though, and if you can't stomach FPP I guess I can't blame you either.

I will improve your bait a little:

F4 > F3 > NV > FO1 > FO2

It's not bait. And I don't really like Bethesda Fallouts. I feel they miss the point.

Why do Obsidian think shitty writing qualifies as game content? why are their teasers full of dumb lines and their games full of pointless dialogue?

>make an ugly nigger
>call it a birdgirl

Pallegina is a qt though

There be a lot more of that stuff if games takes place in Valian republics.
WE WUZ DOGES N SHITZ

Their writing isn't shitty.

Looking forward to it

But there are legitimately tons of people that are going "IS IT FALLOUT?" at every turn

To be fair, they're normies. They probably don't obsessively follow Sawyer on twitter and don't know he's working on PoE 2 for a year now.

Look at the person behind Edér on that pic in the left
>Pistol
>Blue hand
Could be it

Name a good writer in vidya, then
