Xbox One can't, but the Scorpio will most likely survive if they get exclusives and offer upgrade patches for current games like the pspro.

We need an alternative choice for Sony and MS offers that. Nintendo is its own niche in gaming and PC is in a league of it's own. A perfect world is one where Playstation and Xbox get the same dynamic that IOS and Android have where it just comes down to preference and they share most of the same content.

Both PS4 Pro and Scorpio will start out slow, but won't be dropped, and over time will become the normal version of the console.
Most people don't have 4k TV's right now, and for people that do there isn't much reason to buy a new console to play one or two games in 4k. This will change the further on we go though, because all new games will require Pro and Scorpio support.
The main cost in the new consoles is in the development, and that's been paid for. MS dropping their xbox division is about as likely as Sony dropping playstation right now.
