It's been a while since it came out. Have mods made Fallout 4 worth playing (Namely as a settlement ant farm) yet or did modders give up when they realized the core game is just too shitty to make worthwhile?

I played Fallout 4 for the first time around September last year and the modding scene was pretty dead.

There wasn't anything substantial, and I don't imagine that's changed.

There's some things that are mandatory, I suppose. Haven't been on much myself but they have things like "Move Rifle Bolt Action to Other Side" and Hitman47 is working on some great animation packs.

Unfortunately, you can't really fix the story mode. You can get FROST, which essentially removes the story entirely and makes it a survival game, but yeah.

>You can get FROST, which essentially removes the story entirely and makes it a survival game, but yeah.

This is something else I was hoping for. Back when the game came out I played for about 40 hours before losing interest and literally never went to Diamond "City" once since I was just playing The Sims- Nuclear Apocalypse instead.

FROST surprisingly kept me interested for a while. Finding supplies actually felt helpful and you have the ability to have temporary companions that will help you out, and die quickly. It's a much more satisfying survival experience.

That being said, it does feel a little hollow since you're essentially getting nowhere with very little narrative progression.

why isn't there a better mods site than nexus?

>doesn't archive old mods
>temporarily disables downloads for protest reasons
>slow to load images
>poor page design

They found out.
The "Mods will fix it" meme is kill.

well mod have fix most of the problems

I think my biggest gripe with Fallout 4's modding scene is that it's horribly disorganized.
>Skyrim
>SkyUI
>Everything else uses SkyUI

>Fallout 4
>Six million different UI and inventory sorting mods all with varying compatability

Not only that, but even if you do find a mod you like, they have a tendency of being buggy as shit or support was dropped for them. The only modders I even follow on the F4 Nexus are fadingsignal and asXas.

I actually just reinstalled it yesterday, but the modding scene seems almost dead. The mods are all the same as they were six months ago. Many haven't even been updated since then, and most are basic quality of life stuff anyway.

Even LoversLab and AllTheFallen have pretty much given up on it. I suppose the Skyrim remaster didn't do it any favours on the modding front.

I wish my toaster was good enough to actually run frost. I really enjoy it.

Wait until march for Skyrim SE, the beta version of SKSE should be available around that time.

There's a lot of neat stuff that improves a lot, but it still doesn't change how badly written the game is however. I just wish FNV was on the FO4 engine

>Fallout 4 power armor mechanics stuck inside that shit heap
>Will never get the sexy as fuck F4 T-51 in a good modern Fallout game

I'd post my 150 plugins if I knew how to

LOOT > Top Right > Export load order

well it depends on the fever. Skyrim and NV despite any problems for either had good bases to build off of. They had dialogue lists, rpg mechanics that were standard for the genre, options to own a house, multiple faction questlines, and most of it was all handmade with skyrim hitting the radiant quests kinda bad. for all the faults of many bethesda games they were still rpgs.

4 is not really an rpg it's a loot and shoot action shooter with okayish graphics and blandish world design. once you loot and shoot there's no cool builds to try. You just make a guy and specialize in energy or guns. Noncombat skills have almost no barring in the main gameplay which is loot and shoot.

The problem here is that the loot and shoot is sorta just fine enough. Most of the quality of life improvements are already there. You can do system expansions but that was it. Skyrim had more systems going than FO4 and all of skyrim was shallow, so all of it could be expanded. FO4 is kinda just medicore in this, you'd kinda have to go /k/ core to get any inventive mod ideas going. Even then the loot and shoot isnt deep enough to really inspire and isnt flawed enough to enrage. It's sort of bland,

Also there's not a reason to really play it again. the story is never really different and the character voice just ruins so many rp ideas. I can't have anything but middle-aged sub-urban WASP dad. So any character I make never really feels like mine when he has this voice going on that totally doesnt fit.

It's alright.

I think I have most of the essentials, like animations, immersion, quality of life, and some weapons. I decided to just remove all the texture mods since I have it all on a 2TB HDD which just made the loading ass. Holler if you need recommendations

This is the worse.

Although I have to admit NMM is quite great and makes modding literally click2havefun tier.

>obisidian teases a new game
>confirmed for not being a new Fallout

So, we are never getting a good Fallout ever again, right?

>NMM is quite great

Ugh... no. Learn to use mod organizer. NMM is such trash they hired the maker of mod organizer to fix their shit. The new NMM that is about to come out eventually will be more like MO for certain
