Nintendo
FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE U.S. DOLLARS
>more like grand canyon than silicon valley
what did they mean by this
What will happen to Nintendo when Switch flops?
>dvd player: the console
>it's moot
What did they mean by this?
>muh sales
They'll go fully mobile
Good
When was the last time a nintendo handheld flopped?
Virtual Boy
I always loved Sony. So many exclusives, a lot of games I loved growing up. Feel a bit guilty I went the PC route rather than Playstation this gen. No real regrets though.
>loyalty to shitty companies at all.
End yourself.
3DS, was outsold by the PSP
All companies are shitty, senpai.
do you see psp still around?
Nah some are neutral rare few can be based but that doesn't change my point
Sonybro here. As long as you're happy, user, and enjoying vidya. That's all that matters.
The PS2 library is the best of any console since the SNES.
i've psp so i see it sometimes
>sony will never be great again
nypost.com
>DVD players and Blu Ray players were as expensive or more expensive than the consoles at the time of their releases
>can play games as well
>somehow providing shitloads of value is a bad thing
That's hardcore cherry picking.
Ds outsold psp and neither were remotely flops.
If they make me happy, what does it matter? From playing Crash and Ratchet and Clank in my younger years to God of War and Uncharted, as long as they're fun and engaging what's the harm?
Thanks guy.
yeah all that great shovelware garbage
>moot
nani!?
We're talking about the PS2, not the Wii.
I always find this argument hilarious
>the wii had shovelware garbage but the ps2 did
They both did. They both also had a lot of good games but they also had a mountain of shovelware shit
google it next time
Except the PS2 had way more good games than the Wii did.
Hell, it had more great games in its release window than the Wii had in its entire lifetime.
>moot
Will he ever come back?
...
Fujoshi games were released for it up until a year ago, famalamarooni. All that shit's on the Vita now, though.
Is there even any "popular" console without shovelware? It's quick money, just make games for something that a lot of people own. Just look at steam where 95% of games are trash trying to get easy monies.

Makes you think.
it's almost been two years
Everyone knows the PS2 slayed that generation and the Gamecube under-performed as a result. That didn't stop Sony from completely shitting the bed with the PS3 launch before finally getting back on their feet near the end of the generation just in time to shit the bed again with the PS4. Albeit this time the turd was smaller.
Should we post the Wii sales?
What's a release window? And if you mean launch, don't answer me, but kill yourself.
N64 had a pretty solid lineup, even if most of the games were console FPS and collect-a-thon 3D platformers.
Post this instead, just so everyone can see the sorry state we're in.
Don't be surprised if all we have are fps and sports games in the future
>DVD players and Blu Ray players were as expensive or more expensive than the consoles at the time of their releases
No.
There's never any citations for those declarations for a reason.
data360.org
The launch price of the PS2 was $299. At the time it launched in the US, end of 2000, the average price of a DVD player was a little over $150. That's not the price of a cheap DVD player, that's the average price, cheap DVD players were much less than $150 and way, way, way less than the PS2.
It's a complete and utter myth
> should we post the Wii sales
you know someone is going to post that graph of the huge spike the Wii had in console sales and the dwindling numbers of every other Nintendo console.
A more interesting graph would be Sony's console sales.
>bbc.com
DS (2004) - handheld - 154 million sales
Game Boy (1989) - handheld - 119 million
Wii (2006) - console - 102 million
Game Boy Advance (2001) - handheld - 82 million
NES (1983) - console - 62 million
3DS (2011) - handheld - 62 million
SNES (1990) - console - 49 million
N64 (1996) - console - 33 million
GameCube (2001) - console - 22 million
Wii U (2012) - console - 13 million
Source: Nintendo, September 2016
Jesus christ as an owner of both these platforms you would have to be fucking mad to think the wii could even compete.
Fuck, wii games even got PS2 releases for fuck sake. A console from 2001 could play games that the wii was getting.
Sony console sales aren't as interesting as what keeps them high.
(thank you for posting)
This saddens me deeply. Not even Bloodborne is in that fucking list.
>Game Boy Advance (2001) - handheld - 82 million
Ah, emulation... Imagine if it didn't exist.
VBA was so good so soon, also that library
They'll make another system that ends up abandoning the Switch as fast as they abandoned the Wii U. What'd it be like? Nintendo will never settle for being just another Sony/Microsoft machine, so...I have not clue.
While the "cheap DVD player" meme is a myth, you to be naive to think that DVD Video playback wasn't a contributing factor. Being a DVD/CD player/game console hybrid, on top of being backward compatible with the PS1 library helped it a lot.
Holy fucking shit... And here are some of those things that sold less units that the fucking PS3...
-SNES
-N64
-Gamecube
-Dreamcast
-Xbox
-GBA
-NES
-3DS
-WiiU
Everyone makes fun of the PS3 and yet... Let that sink in. And the wii only got to PS1 numbers
>it's another "nintoddlers are delusional" episode
Considering the 3DS is playing Wii U games now that's not really a big deal. Only AAA western devs make a big deal out of power and porting when it comes to ports.
Japs simply do it if they're asked to.
Oh no doubt.
Dunno user i think its funny that a console from 2001 was getting wii games in 2010.
All this tells me is
> Want a Platformer machine? Get a WiiU
> Want a Sports/Action machine? Get a Xbox / Playstation
> Want a RPG machine? Get a 3DS
Those are more or less the numbers, only slightly updated.
Nintendo portables always sold pretty well though (Virtual Boy excluded). That's pretty much the reason why the Switch is a portable Wii U tablet with an HDMI-out adapter.
It is kind of ironic, PS2 was kept alive for a really long time. But it isn't really a big deal in my opinion. They were one gen apart and the Wii wasn't really a big upgrade from the previous gen.
PS2 is a 2000 console, but not that it matters. The Wii was just a slightly enhanced GameCube (a 2001 console) with a motion control gimmick. The Wiimote was supposed to be an add-on for the GameCube, but they decided to make a whole new console centered around it instead.
>“They want to see how the “Emoji Movie” movie does because they think they have a franchise and it might help them get a better price,” said a source, the film, which features a poop emoji, comes out on August 4.
Please be joking
Go to your local store and see if you still see 3DS around
Actually, yes. Not even joking.
lmao, Sony still hasn't recovered from their hubris back during the PS2 era
Not the same guy. Can find a 3DS easily, might even find a PSP or a DS, but can't find a Vita.
The last time I went to 3DS, they're still in stock too, but very few. It's the Wii U that is dead.
*Best Buy
Can find those too. Fun fact, I've never actually seen a Xbone for sale though. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
>The last time I went to 3DS
>I went to 3DS
It's getting late you might want to get some sleep. At least I know I will.
I've seen plenty of Xbones in my area though (both the launch and S models). Xbox One S is a pretty tempting purchase if it wasn't such a meh-tier console.
