What can you guys tell me about this game? Getting lost in a jrpg sounds like it's right up my alley right about now and I see this shit is on a flash sale.
How is the world and exploration in the game? I don't play many jrpgs really. Last one I really played and enjoyed the hell out of was Xenoblade Chronicles. One thing that I absolutely loved was the world. It was interesting, pretty big, a lot of optional content and not much grinding was needed. If I liked XC would I like this?

Rogue Galaxy is definitely worth playing. I preferred this game over XC. You can't go wrong for $5.
There seems to be a few issues on PS4 though. Some of the visual effects of certain abilities are glitchy and the UI is very pixelated.
Lilika best waifu
I like it but it's really shit on PS4, it's not even widescreen and looks absolutely fucking awful on a 4k TV. Long loading screens too and I think a couple of other problems.
Emulate it instead.
It's really boring. Like dark cloud 2 if you removed pretty much everything besides the dungeon crawling.
The world doesn't feel very big, you travel to different planets but they're mostly just a handful of dungeons made of corridors. The combats unbelievably simple and while the skill tree gives you impression that you'll gain new moves, they're all passive buffs and cutscene attacks you have to pause the game to use. The story accomplishes nothing besides cramming in every single trope and cliche it can think of without making any of it interesting or likeable. There's a decent amount of optional content but they're mostly MMO style grinding X number of enemies and optional bosses with aforementioned simple combat. The only redeemable quality is a few nice minigames, but you have to slpg through a good chunk of the game to get to them.
Shit game that revolves around spamming aoe attacks because everything else is ineffective.
It's way better than Dark Cloud 2 because the story and characters aren't dog shit. Better graphics and music too.
its okay but the game is very guilty of giving the player a false impression they will explore this big galaxy filled with planets. Game feels small with planets consisting of small maps of corridors.
>dark cloud 2
I've actually never played this either. Which is great because it's also on sale for cheap right now.
That kinda sucks. I was hoping for a nice interconnected world like the Bionis, with hidden cities and shit.
It's literally Star Wars x One Piece
The areas aren't as big or expansive as XC, but it's all seamless. And all the areas are colorful, varied, and interesting. Characters are also on par with XC as well.
Combat is all action based and can be pretty challenging as well.
I'd say get it while it's on sale, its pretty decent.
I'm not joking about it being ugly as fuck on PS4 though man, don't do it.
I thought the game was insanely beautiful. Very nice environments and towns. For me, it was 4/5.
You should play Legend of mana for ps1 instead if you haven't.
I'd say get dark cloud 2 over rouge galaxy.
Fur fag game
Why not both? They're $5 each.
I mean if you had to choose one over the other.
well its like rogue galaxy but with better art style and music. Minus all the anime cliche characters and story arcs.
The game is beautiful and good for the first hours, but then it gets boring due to encounter rate and the battle system being repetitive. Using skills is horrible, you have to open the menu everytime to use them, just like FF XII
That's what I'm thinking of doing right now. Either I get both of them for 5 bucks a pop, or one of the two alongside Persona 3 portable.
I believe ya on how it looks, but as long as it's playable then why not.
Game does a ton well, but the game design is ultimately more tedious than fun. I imagine most people drop it around 3 hours. So, a typical Level5 RPG.
>Persona 3 portable.
Get P3 FES, portable is shit.
I second this. You'll miss out on a lot of events and cutscenes.
>just like FF XII
Not a fan of FF XII? I was really psyched for the remaster coming out this year because anons keep telling me it's very similar to XC.
Don't think it's on sale. Why is it shit though?
See that's what I don't wanna do. I don't wanna drop the game. Sure $5 for 3 hours isn't a bad deal, but I hate having to drop games like that if/when they bore me.
Has one of the best minigames.
FUCKING BUG CHESSSSSSSSSS
Because it's the absolute wrong way to port a game.
>remove all cutscenes
>remove all exploration
FF12 isn't similar to XC outside of them both trying to copy MMO gameplay, but both do it in different ways. That guy is dumb though, using skills is automatic in FF12 and it's not a big deal to open a menu to use what you want in a JRPG. That's basically the gameplay of any JRPG.
>it's not a big deal to open a menu to use what you want in a JRPG.
It is when the combat is trying (and completely failing) to be action-based like Rogue Galaxy.
>The story accomplishes nothing besides cramming in every single trope and cliche it can think of
It also just all conveniently manages to sync up somehow.

Godlike song coming through.
Wait there are no cut scenes in portable at all? What the fuck, why? I figured I'd get it for some persona before 5 came out.
enjoyed until the last dungeon
that shit never ended i got sick of playing it
>Remember having a lot of fun with this on the ps2 like 9 years ago
>For some reason, it doesn't fucking work, even though I just got a new mint condition ps2
>tfw no PS4
Loved it as a teenager.
Now I'm older and more cynical.
Only nips could ruin the concept of space pirates treasure hunting by filling it with animu cliches.
It does have some, dare I say it? Comfy soundtracks.
Is this the greatest character in video gaming history?
>mfw he molests Zegram during the end credits
I loved the weapon fusion mechanic, had a ton of fun trying to get the ultimate Desert Seeker level.
I really want to like this game but having to interrupt combat every 3 seconds to heal your retarded companions is really annoying.
IIRC you can set them to automatically use healing items when they get close to death.
Is one of my favorites games ever made
Shit I had no idea, or is it a new feature for the hd version?
Nope, never played the HD version.
I fucking wish I had though, it doesn't work on my ps2
>Only nips could ruin the concept of space pirates treasure hunting by filling it with animu cliches.
Honestly I don't watch anime like that so the cliche's don't really bother me. Not that I like them, but it's whatever.
From the looks of it though this game is a definite buy. Pretty positive opinion. Should I get Dark Cloud 2 as well?
YES, the only game i've ever seen Sup Forums agree on is how good Dark Cloud 2 is.
Lots of people in general seem to have problems with doing "____ pirates" well.
>Honestly I don't watch anime
Then you should be alright
If you're a 40k fan by any chance then there might be some things in the game you find amusing, I won't say anymore.
The sense of adventure you get early on is really good though, but I'd say it wears off around 3/4 of the way through.
Have fun user!
>If you're a 40k fan by any chance then there might be some things in the game you find amusing, I won't say anymore.
I'm not so much a fan, but I might pick up on the occasional reference or so. I know a bit of it, but not much.
Also 3/4 of the game containing a sense of adventure sounds pretty good to me.
I've seen that too. Sup Forums really loves it.
Maybe if you pull your head out of the dick whirlpool you would realize everything you said is wrong and that you're a faggot
It is a great casual Action RPG with a great artstyle, godly soundtrack and plenty of replayability.
You can fuse weapons together, make your own items by literally making your own factory with a minigame and sending items through the different stations, you can do monster hunting quests that let you fight optional bosses, and motherfucking bug chess.
The people that whine about the combat are most likely trying to have as little fun as possible and taking advantage of move spam, like autists.
It's definitely worth the 5 bucks and leaves you with a nostalgia hit.
Also, keep in mind that the game is VERY long.

Does this answer your question? Also based golf game and letting your underage partner weak skimpy leopard bikini.
Still, the level design in both games are rather dull. I remember falling asleep to both of them in some occasions.
Must be cuz of the awesome music.
>dark cloud 2
>boring
The slightest implication of this upsets me
Had the deepest crafting and invention system for years, and the photography system to actually explore palm brinks
>dark cloud 2
>story and characters are dogshit
Nigga pls it had the deepest roster of fleshed out recruitable characters. Get the fuck out of here
I heard the game is really grindy. Please tell me it isn't so.
You don't need to grind so much as you need to weapon fuse.
Bought the games.
That sounds like it can be cool. Is it unreasonable to get upgrades or do you get them at good intervals?
It's easy.
The MC's ultimate weapon is also the weapon he gets during the intro quest.
Keep fusing it with tasty weapons and it'll carry you through to endgame.
Yo that sounds kinda cool. You just fucking add weapons onto your original one? Kind of like how Shulk's monado was his only weapon that just got stronger as time went on.
where is this sale?
Really annoying game because like others have mentioned, it's all about pausing the game to open up menus to spam healing items and abilities which further pause the game.
Another horrible thing is that although you can take the main character out of the party and to use him, you really are forced to use him, because about 20% of random enemies have a special invincible status only the main character can disable and you aren't going to keep swapping characters constantly every 2 minutes throughout the dungeons.
Might be because this game uses a dual layer disc.
PSN.
Yes but you need to 'season' other weapons before Toady will agree to fuse them.
Don't worry, to season a weapon only requires about 8-9 batttle victories.
i guess the qestion is where are you seeing persona 3 for sale
Rogue Galaxy has amazing production value and aesthetics but is ultimately pretty shallow and dull. The level design in particular is only a notch better than FF13, with entire filler dungeons with nothing interesting going on between point A and B. That fucking twin tower dungeon in particular is fucking awful.
And God does the story just drop the ball. I won't spoil it, but it's pretty much the least interesting path they could have taken in the setting. I still beat it so I won't say it was bad, but don't expect it to be as good as XC. That game had way more going for it mechanically.
ahhh i see. i saw rogue galaxy and dark cloud 2 on the ps4 store so i got excited thinking they put persona 3 on there. but its only on vita and psp
thanks anyways
