You can estimate about 1 cent per view for a 10 minute video and .5 cents per view for a 1 minute video. The animation takes a week or two per 1 minute (probably less for most GG-quality animations) and nets $300-500 with the GG audience (600k to 1mil views). Your typical animator has a much smaller audience so spending weeks on an animation that nets you less than $300 is unsustainable.
that's sort of been the recurring trend with animators on youtube. The effort required not being worth the revenue received. Problem is that their answer is to do faggy shit like skits, make letsplay channels, or podcast. Look at fucking Stamper. He went on to help make games with Behemoth. Y'know? A job! If you take a look, every video under 300k is an RPG (besides CT #1 because new series garner highest interest numbers). GG does best with high energy games to fuel banter, these RPGs are slow and the banter is much less engaging, hence less engaged viewers and lower view numbers. Once they switch games the numbers will go back up.

i remember watching every single episode up to 6 months before Jon left. I was a diehard fan and even I had trouble keeping up with their upload schedule.
Game grumps had its moments. Even the newer stuff, but they just pumped out too many episodes. As someone who laughed at a ton of their jokes. I can't even stand listening to their voices anymore. Danny not so much cause I kinda stopped watching them regularly when Jon left.
I don't think their add fanbase is interested in them playing these long ass rpgs even if the games are good

Too many videos, cant be bothered to watch. They are trying to do quantity over quality and ride the youtube algorithm and all I do is watch the monthly comps. Even then they are a half hour long and I don't watch the whole thing in one sitting
But uploading multiple ~10 min videos a day is how you optimize how much you can make from videos. This is the easiest way to determine whether someone is doing an LP because they enjoy it or for muhyoutubebucks.

They burnt out as fuck. There's more hours of Game Grumps content than any TV series, it's literally impossible to have that much to talk about. And Danny doesn't even play games so they can't talk about that either.
The problem with shows like Game Grumps is that they're personality-driven. They're not that funny, you're supposed to watch them because you're interested in their lives, which is pretty difficult when they dump a video after video. That's why I enjoy shows like Funhaus, you can skip a year-worth of content and it won't matter, because they're there to make you laugh, not tell you about their daddy issues.

This is why I genuinely think patreon is a good thing. It's a non commercial way to fund artists so that they stay true to what their fanbase wants and not what youtube/the man dictates. Unlike kickstarter since it's a monthly thing it's harder to rip people off since if the artist doesn't produce you can just opt out. If I wasn't such a massive jewy miser I'd probably even partake in it.
