Sonic Adventure

Is this game really as bad as everyone says it is?

It's pretty fucking fun.
I won't call it the greatest game ever, but it's enjoyable. Original version > PS3/360 > PC/GC

It is a fun game with many flaws which are easy to spot but should not ruin your overall experience.

It's decent. A lot more playable than the sequel.

Absolutely.

Both the Adventure games are alright. Don't listen to nostalgiafags though, they're not god tier classics.

Sonic Adventure aged like milk and the fact that every port of it fucked the graphics/art style up doesn't help. It is pretty charming though. If so-bad-its-good voice acting, top-tier butt rock, and fun environments are up your alley, give it a shot.

This too

For the time, not really. It was ambitious as fuck and only now looking back at it, it didn't really excel at any one thing and rather did lots of things decently.

For a period in gaming when your franchise surviving the jump to 3D more or less determined if it would live or die, making like 8 different gameplay types and even more subtypes within them while also trying your hand at voice acting and a overarching persistent plot is commendable.

absolute trash like any 3d sonic

has an amazing first 4 levels and then everything goes to shit at the eggcarrier level

it's more acurate to say everything goes to shit after you beat Sonic, Tails, Gamma's story,

Knuckles was good

It's a fucking trainwreck. Despite that, it's enjoyable. SEGA magic, baby.

The problem with knuckles is the emerald radar in that game picked up pieces every easily and that made his levels trivial as fuck.

It's an alright game. I liked playing as all of the characters besides Amy

Along with SA2, yeah they're shit. What people doesn't know is how fun both games are

Best sonic game out their, don't listen to the haters.

Didn't age the greatest, but I can still pop it or SA2 in and enjoy myself.

Knuckles had better levels in SA2 by far.

I would call it bad, because it has come good parts, but it is a very flawed game all around.

I meant wouldn't

This i fully agree with. They really improved how emerald searching was suppose to play likeand making the maps bigger actually makes you use the hints as opposed to just gliding you hear beeping. It really gets to me fathoming how big pumpkin hill and meteor herd are as maps.

It's great when you're a kid or autistic
But I watched a lets play of it recently for nostalgia and I couldn't stop cringing at the voice acting, graphics, animations, level design, characters, story, basically everything.

>making like 8 different gameplay types and even more subtypes within them while also trying your hand at voice acting and a overarching persistent plot is commendable.
It's certainly commendable, but ultimately not a great idea. Regardless, i do like the idea and did like the characters did have their separate narratives that criss-crossed with one another.

Worse. Just look at that atrocious fucking picture. Sonic and Tails dont blend to their realistic enviornment whatsoever, and it only gets worse as the game goes on. Floaty controls make controlling your fast character needlessly difficult and the level/hub design is fucking atrocious. Thats not to mention the only gameplay people remember, played the game for, and care about is overall not even half of the game's content. Enjoy sonic and friend's adventure if the obnoxious plot and voice acting doesn't make you kill yourself first.

It has its glaring issues but overall it is fun. The music is amazing. The voice acting can be hilarious.

Has the best robot nick voice in the fucking universe in my opinion. too bad he died I think and replaced him with that shrill sounding fucker you hear in every recent sonic iteration.

Both SA games are fine

They've aged but people who harp on about "how bad" they actually are are just hating on it to be cool and edgy

They are better than the majority of other 3D sonics.

2 is the better game, 1 has better level balancing (meaning Sonic has the most levels while the other jokers only have a few each)

It's not as good as everyone insists it is.

It is was a bug fest.

points for trying

It's flawed but fun. It has a lot of objective faults that make it easy to shit on it, but as a complete package it's still enjoyable if you're not a tryhard.

same

If it wasn't Sonic everyone would immediately dismiss it.
Because it's Sonic people are willing to put their blinders on and shrug it off as "it has a few problems".

got a problem with mike pollock?

No, it's pretty fun all around, but it has a severe lack of polish and feels like you're playing some production beta, not a console's system seller.

Also the cutscenes are so terrible they feel like placeholders.

This board has daily "fuck you I liked it" and "games only you played" threads. Don't pretend this is limited to Sonic. It's absolutely possible to enjoy a thing while still recognizing its objective flaws.

That's fine, but you know that's not the vibe 99% of SA fags put out. The sycophantry involved with this series is fucking ridiculous.

No but the game's almost 20 years old and a team's first attempt at 3D with time constraints on top of that.
It's flawed and some of the scripting can be forced to easily bug out but it's a solid game and I enjoyed it when I played it for the first time recently. 2 definitely controls better overall but the amount of non-Sonic levels on top of the downgrade to the treasure hunting and rail shooter segments made it more of a slog to play through than 1.

Don't bother. I enjoyed when I had it on the Dreamcast as a kid, but now it's easy to see how clumsy it is. All of the 3D Sonic games range from literal shit to 8/10 at best. Get a Game Boy Advance emulator (or a Game Boy Advance) and play the Sonic Advance games instead.

He is just so not Robotnick or Eggman sounding. He is too high picthed and shrill for what I want in an eggman voice. I guess you can chalk this up to just nostalgia goggles but when I picture what eggman sounds like I hear Jim Cummings or even Long John Baldry from the shittier animated series with the steve urkle as sonic. But yeah Deem Bristow will always be the Robotnick I hear as.

Pollock is as high pitched and shrill as Sega wants him to be. Rewatch the early episodes of Sonic X where his voice direction amounted to "try to be Deem Bristow", as well as Sonic 06 cutscenes where he was much more serious and restrained than later games. The voice direction is exactly what Sega wants the characters to sound like right now, and changing voice actors won't change the direction.
