Also my comfy city
What happened to the City-Building genre?

It's alive
this game gets boring after 10 hours
it is something that is rather hard to sell in this console centered century and most indie developers are lazy and inept.
on a side note I want a Populous the Beginning adaptation for the Hololens that would be pretty dope with all the tiny planets and such.
>need more food
>need more people to make food
>need more houses to get more people
>need more oil and fleece
>need more culture
>need more people for those
>need more food
>need more storage places
>too many people
>nod enough resources
>4000 citizens leave
>can't properly distribute the workers
>the only option is to destroy half of your city
Urban Empire
consoles
Or... just not grow faster than you can sustain.
>tfw no game where you build a pepe city empire
Military aspect of the game was shit. It's pretty much god favours and heroes bulldoze everything.
In its current state? Pic Related. Right now it's a typical Kalypso release that might live up to it's full potential, even if the devs don't abandon the title too early.
Tropico 4 was the last good city building game, even tho late game was frustrating as fuck due to retarded housing mechanics
Are there any good cyberpunk city building games?
They got too weeb, that's what.
game?
it has been recycled on mobile
...
...
what game ? looks comfy
Metropolismania 2
It's one of those quirky Japanese PS2 games the system was known for.
The main gimmick is that you have build up the town population to a certain level while dealing with town complaints.
Talk to, befriend and harrass everyone so they can introduce you to an owner of a building that they know of that might be necessary to solve that "we need a hospital" complaint. Unless you luck out on that building showing up in your contact list but don't count on that.
What game is this?
get good
looks comfy as fuark
what game?
Nations 2 can be fun though it is not supposed to be a city builder.
City builders fell under the mobile games category. Why bother making a game when you can just get people playing your shitty phone version.and make your money back due to the whales.
this is not fair
>tfw you know the title of the game but won't share it
>tfw anons are too lazy to do a reverse image search
OP even kept the original filename of the picture ffs.
;_;
It's Ymir.
Some kind of shitskin logic here. Choke on a cock.
>I'm a weirdo, look at how much of a weirdo I am
Ymir
the impression games are probably my favorite series of all time, zeus and emperor are fantastic and i still play them, really enjoy watching my city grow and no new games manage to capture that feeling
Love pharaoh and Caesar III
People used to post lurk moar now they just get spoonfed everything, no wonder Sup Forums barely does anything anymore with this pitiful level of interest in our favourite hobby
Banished is really only good for one or two games. When you figure out how to survive the winter the game is basically over because that survival aspect has limited appeal. Still, really good effort for a one-man game.
Too many women working in the company who can't do jackshit. I wish we would hire actual codemonkeys rather than shitty tumblr artists...
T: Developer
I am amazed by how these games aged so well. There are obviously some UI shenanigans because of the resolution, but assets still look outstanding.
>no multiplayer
imagine the wonders autism could build if a group of 20 hikkis joined forces to build a city from energy and sewer work to doggy poo bag distribution
hell economist could gather data from that
I'm pretty sure lurk moar was about "board culture" (or how ever you want to call it) and not about some one asking the mere name of a game they didn't play
>Multiplayer
So it's a Facebook game? Fuck that.
You're telling me. I'd get all excited when I heard something was coming out on the phone to play (Theme park world, The Sims or Sim City) only to find its a cash grab shite game.
Which always suck cause everyones towns always end up looking the same cause the tutorial tells you how to build so unless you spend money and buy the absurdly expensive stuff or grind for years you're fucked
It has aged well and has decent replay value. Every year or so I get into it again. I like Caesar III but it lacks alot of nice things that Pharaoh has.
...
Oh shit, that's Kalypso?
Excuse while I get that off my list of games I want to play.
...
how do I git gud at these
...
...
enjoying systems and optimization.
Autism helps too.
...
moar
As someone who's played these games as a kid but never understood what the FUCK was going on, how did Emperor (the Chinese one) age? How does it compare to the other games in the series?
How do I get Cities: Skylines cities not to look alike? No matter the terrain, they all eventually grow to be New York.
You learn from the Soviets and master the Commie block philosophy.
Jews destroyed it with online only. Indy will save it though
you don't, they will always look the same
I just saw on steam the other day a city builder in the visage of caesar and zeus. It was called lethis i think...but the characters were suffering from the tumblr nose syndrome
Who on earth is Indy?
tfw ubisoft killed Anno
emperor is my personal favorite, gameplay wise it's pretty much the same as the other games, some mechanics are improved tho. the graphics still look good because everything is hand-drawn, monuments could be better, nothing beats pharaoh in that department IMO
what a strange question
don't zone big blocks of dense property, just intersperse it with the rest of your city
Did any modder ever make that a real game? Like add random events or raiders or something to prevent you snowballing once you get the basics?
>tfw I'm shit at simulation games despite playing them constantly for 17 years
iktf
It was literally the same shit every time. I loved the first Anno and kind of enjoyed the second one, but there is really not much fun doing the same thing over and over again just with newer graphics.
I had a friend who played it and it looked interesting but I never picked it up. Maybe I will.
Gonna post some 30 pharaoh ones now. will take forever but fuck it.
...
Pharaoh is the most ascetically perfetct game of all time.
...
...
Like in CS3 Pharaoh maps are fucking huge. It's insane and annoying. You get forced into using the same building patterns or else it just doesn't work due to AI pathing. Even more annoying in CS3 because CS3 doesnt have roadblock (although gates work)
Mechanically the most developed but the campaigns aren't that interesting. It doesn't use the mythological ancient china setting to its advantage at all, the most you'll get is the gods/ancestors like in Zeus but no monsters, mythical events, etc. the campaigns just follow dynasties instead of lyrical epics. You do a build a grand canal/great wall like 6 times which is only interesting to do once. The Chi mechanic is also total areshite. Highly recommend playing it though, it's still pretty good.
Eh. Gets boring really fast. Would not recommend.
guess i dont have the time. be back later
Nah nigger you a faggot. For us commuting phone posters, it's much harder to RIS.
...
Zeus>Pharaoh>Caesar III>Emperor
You gotta see it as a challenge. Personally, I completed the game without roadblocks or slums just fine. Ceasar III is a bigger bitch though.
it has mods
Dorf isn't done yet. It'll be the city builder to end them all!
thats some shit resolution though.
Does Factorio count?
I enjoy building train networks/mining outposts, then shipping stuff to main factory and expanding/growing/supplying stuff.
As an electronics engineer student, this game is my drug.
Playing on hard difficulty or very hard is already challenging enough. Always money problems at the start untill you finally get things going. Then it becomes an easy steamroll except the sea battles. Being limited to only 6 warships and seeing the enemy spawn 30 of em is just bullshit that I dont want to deal with so I rush those missions.
It's one of the resolutions the game was meant to be played at, and even lower resolutions are still better.
Any larger than 1024x768 and you really too much graphical repetition and the lack of real structure in the cities or sensible scale in the buildings.
...
...
Still one of the best games ever made. The French localisation is also pretty darn good.
What kind of dictator do you play ? I play a benevolent socialist one with fair elections.
...
...
...
Fucking dickhead Militarist that prioritizes the military over food and housing
I really wish Skylines was not agent based and made more of an effort to simulate things.
this game's road AI and housing is so fucking frustratingly retarded, late game I want to create a docks on the other side of the island but the people who live on the opposite side of the island start working there and then they commue to their worplace through the entire island
...
Are there any on mobile that aren't just freemium bullshit?
Do you move every time you get a new job in town?
Not really, it has more in common with something like Transport Tycoon, and even then only a little. They do share similarities but you're not really building a city.
Admiral Tacoboutit
A big black man with an afro who always allows elections and will defend Tropico to the death (but, particularly its cigar factories).
but when they do that in game it makes everything get fucked up and your resources not delivered and sold in time, and you eventually run out of money
