She also berates him for not absorbing a single soul, going through the barrier and then getting the rest when she could have done it herself. Instead she intentionally tries to stop the barrier from breaking, doesn't try to save any of the kids, lets Alphys do her twisted experiments and then tries to take the moral high ground at the end.

She's not berating him for not absorbing the first human soul he came across, she's berating him for not being loyal to his objective and delaying it for as long as he could. She knows he never wanted to kill humans, but his lack of confidence delayed his own plans and ended up in more deaths when he could have simply changed his mind if it wasn't due to the fact that he needed to give hope to the Underground.

Toriel cares about humans. In the ending where you only kill Asgore, she takes over and abolishes the rule to kill humans on sight. The only reason for why she didn't fight Asgore is because he was still her husband, despite everything.

Fair point, but consider that after he killed the first humans without even absorbing their souls, he already made a big mistake that is hard to forgive. Maybe Toriel was so angry about this that she didn't want to see his face again, nor try to calm him down after all the damage he's done.

Besides, she may be aware that Asgore's plans gave the Underground hope. To stop his plans would be to ruin this hope, which is another reason for why she didn't try to stop him.

This isn't exactly painting Toriel in a favorable light when it comes to caring about humans.

How could she knew that was going to work? She was forced to take the lead after Asgore's death, but there was nothing to ensure that the monsters wouldn't rebel against her decision. It was for the best that she didn't take that risk, so she simply let the monsters have hope in his husband's plans.

That's when Toriel had finally made the decision to stop his husband, regardless of the implications it could have for the Underground's hope. She was in conflict the whole time, without knowing if she should give more support to humans or monsters. She isn't the perfect waifu mom everyone makes her seem to be, but she isn't an evil cunt either; she just can't choose to care about everyone at the same time, so her decisions seem questionable when in fact it's all due to the difficult situation she was put in.
