My theory was you only fight adolescents in 2, while in 1 you fight a matured adult, as evidenced by the fungus/moss growth on his back, being mostly absent from the others. Sort of like the cannon beetles, seeing as you only fight larvae in 2.

I think it's because they also gave them cool names and never refer to them by what they really are.

I'd imagine most cannon beetles lose their exotic coloration upon reaching maturity, while retaining some features of the previous form, since the green regular ones are still pretty spiffy, but an adult canon beetle is pretty uniformly colored.

It definitely has potential. Caves should be brought back too. Forest Navel was atmospheric as fuck. It'd be interesting to see a true spider enemy since we have Dweevils and Daddy Long Legs.

I mean, you could argue Raging Long Legs was a step in that direction, but still. Pikmin 3 sort of had them, but I'm referring moreso to bosslike enemies.

at the last floor there is a purple flower to convert pikmins into purple ones. those are the only ones that can do anything to it.

Get to the bottom floor where there's purple candypop buds and get some purple Pikmin with them, but his water-y part with a purple pikmin to turn him solid, I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

Pikmin 3 isn't that bad, it's probably below 1 and 2 but not worth 3 ">". Pikmin has a great trilogy, come on.

I just wish they did more with it. I wish that most of the challenge mode wasn't locked behind a paywall since that's where the game really shines imo.

Pikmin had some very neat bosses, at least in terms of design.

It is, but again, Pikmin 2 is just a hard game to top, challenge mode, story, a kick ass multiplayer mode too, and aside Purpleswinlol it has decent difficulty. My biggest gripe with 3 is that it's too short, too easy and the focus in multi tasking although interesting, sometimes annoying. Aside from that it's not bad at all.

I hope they make 4 for Wii U considering how good 3 looked for the Wii U's hardware I want to see if Pikmin 4 goes full photorealism.

Gotta admit, I kinda agree. I definitely don't dislike Pikmin 3, or even think it's average, but for reference, Pikmin 2 is in my top 10 favorite games ever, Pikmin 1 is in my top 20, but Pikmin 3 is only top 50.

I agree Pikmin 2 had more content in it than Pikmin 3, but Pikmin 3 is a better strategy game than 2 is.

Pikmin 3 is best, but 1 could be best if they do an updated port to work out its little flaws, such as the pikmin AI letting them fall off bridges so easily. Maybe 2 could be best if whites and purples weren't so tedious to gather. If you lose them, you're out of luck. Having said that, all of them are great games.

I'd consider the first game to be the best in terms of strategy mainly because things were a lot less forgiving and there was a real time limit so it required a bit more caution and planning

I've beaten 1 multiple times and played through 3, but 2 just doesn't hold my attention. The cave exploration is just so fucking boring and repetitive.

Pikmin 1>Pikmin 2>Pikmin 3. Though Pikmin 2 is pretty fucking great it doesn't capture that same feeling Pikmin 1 did for me.

We have one every few months. but they normally are only a few posts long. The Pikmin and Rayman series of games are rarely talked about and it's a shame because their my favorites.

I got to play Pikmin 2 before I was exposed to all the dungeon crawlers and roguelikes of the medium so to me the caves were great in terms of atmosphere and challenge (granted I hardly raised or even used any purple pikmin in my first playthrough nor did I know to reset the console whenever something terrible happened.)
A lot of people dislike the cave exploration but I found it comfy af.
