OpFor GoD TIER

Opposing Force is probably the better expansion but I still had fun with Blue Shift even though it's a glorified map pack.

Opposing Force. Who the fuck even bothered to replay Blue Shit?

RECON
MOVE OUT

me

Tfw Opposing Force is the best thing Gear Box ever produced.

opposing force, also the only good game to come form gearbox

OpFor is definitely the best. Blue Shift was nice, but it was pretty short and didn't really have any new weapons/enemies the same way OpFor had. Plus OpFor paved the way for many other Half Life mods.

OpFor is better than the original

How's the fan port of decay? is it good?

nah
the new weapons are great though

could you explain how?

op4 has some really shitty sections like the voltigore tunnels

shame

still gonna play though

>half-life 3 will be a triple sequel to the main game plus the expansions
>all part of the same game, different story modes where you control different characters
>different weapons for each
>all taking place at the same time, we get to see different routes and how the actions of a character influence the others
How would you feel about this?

its definitely still worth playing through don't get me wrong i just think the original has better level design

Opposing Force > Ep 2 > Half Life > HL2 > Ep 1 > Blue Shift

Considering I never felt much attachment to Gordon, and always liked Adrian better, it would be cool if it works out.

Blue Shift

What is this? One of the old DOOM games?

the sequel to Half Life 2 is Half Life 1?

Valve would need to release a special edition of the game that came with clean underwear, 'cause I would cream mine so hard.

Opposing Force.
Shame that we'll never play Shephard again and beat shit with a wrench.

Is there any way to bring back the LD models for sven co-op? I fucking hate the new ones.

Yeah, my inspiration was the thought of the G-Man taking Adrian out of his stasis to go after Gordon who is heading to the ship, needing to stay out of their path while aiding them from far away

Barney would take place somewhere else but would ultimately help in the end, it would also be a good chance to do a different approach, maybe his segments could be more combat oriented

I think everyone who's played hl1 and the expansions wants this

even if hl3 did get made, no way this would happen, the half life writer says he doesn't take the expansions into account when writing

The only answer is op for.

That being said it's the only gearbox thing I ever really play until recently, me and my roommates started playing Boarderlands 2, and it's pretty fun, why does everyone on Sup Forums hate gearbox so much? What did they do?

Barney died at the end of HL2: EP1 though when the citadel exploded.

Objective facts comin' through, folks.
HL1 > OP4 > EP2 > HL2 > BS > EP1

Yeah, but Laidlaw doesn't even work there anymore. He retired

disagree with the expansions being better than their respective main games, although I could see why someone would say that (OP Force had more fun weapons, and Episode 2 felt like a greatest hits of HL2 condensed with no filler.

But man it really does bug me how watered down the weapons are in HL2 was compared to hl1, it really felt like they were nudging you to use the gravity gun all the time. I'm also not a fan of when people say they balanced the arsenal by limiting your ammo so you're not just using the best weapons all the time. Except most people only ever used a combination of the pulse rifle and shotgun, the former completely displaced the mp7, with the pistol being complete crap. Magnum and Xbow had nowhere near enough ammo to ever really be used. Whereas in HL1 it felt like I could approach a gunfight in a variety of different ways.

meant to quote

I can't tell if you're baiting or not....

He escaped ahead with a train alongside other citizens, his whereabouts are unknown

Ah shit

fuck you valve, give me it

It wouldn't even be good anymore really, it's not a joke when people say half life could never live up to the hype now, any new spin off game would look so different it would feel foreign to the games it was meant to compliment, my assumption is that we will see half life again when Valve tries to push the VR tech real hard, and even then it probably won't do so well.

>it's not a joke when people say half life could never live up to the hype now
I just want a game that plays and feels like HL1 instead of HL2. That's not hard to do.

surely you don't mean that
based gearbox released the smash hit battleborn

I dunno what you mean by that exactly, what specifically do you want to be like half life 1?

Why was Gordon so strong when he was a dumb book nerd

Movement, storytelling, weapon variety, enemy variety, and level design.

me

>hev suit
>he's pretty fit actually, don't you need to be for that whole tutorial HEV suit we did (like in game only fit people can use that suit)
>strong will to survive
>possibly a natural at shooting on top of having a godly arsenal
>progressed naturally fighting (i.e., headcrabs, zombies, grunts, alien grunts etc)
>aliens and soldiers were killing each other and he was probably stealthily watching from the sides
>G-man interference

full retard

>Arkane Studios was working on an Episode set in Ravenholm
>Warren Spector was working on an Episode
>both got cancelled

>movement
Half life 2 and half life 1 are fairly similar there, I mean I guess you could say the controls are a little more loose in hl1.
>story telling
You want a game were npcs speak in a half dozen generic lines and everything sounds like it was recorded on an old Nokia brick?
>weapon variety
I mean, I think they are fairly similar in the number of weapons, and half life 2 has the gravity gun, which makes up for the lack of any other weapon, it turns almost anything into a weapon. Don't see a problem there.
>enemy variety
Again, the same for the most part, I mean if anything half life 2 has more enemy variety I think, don't quote me, it's been a while.
>level design
Half life 1 has actually got annoyingly bad lecel design to me. I don't hate it, but there is some really wonky shit to black Mesa at times. I thought hl2 had decent enough level design.

I want a game where I don't fight niggers in gasmasks for 90% of the game and you get locked into areas to get exposition dumped on repeatedly with gimmicky airboat and jeep sections. I want a game where you get more than the most generic and weak loadout in any FPS game. I want a game with interesting areas with lots of connecting areas and ways to bypass certain sections of the game.

Op4

Sounds like hl1 to me friend, with 1 shortcut added in.

not that guy but you moved a lot faster in half life 1 (almost too fast and had to actually hold shift to slow your character down, as opposed to half life 2 where you need to hold shift to run).

Half life 1's storytelling was a lot less in your face, which I preferred. The only time you have to sit through lengthy exposition is the beginning and at the end when Gman talks to you. The rest you can just filter out and shoot everyone if you so please. In half life 2, you have to sit through black mesa east, which I always skip now, and the last level has that whole part with Dr Breen. They felt like literally unskippable cutscenes. I preferred if the storytelling was more by the environment, I thought the beginning of half life with Breen on the monitors and it have a 1984 feel was great. Then Alyx shows up and the pace suffers.

Dude, HL2's weapons are far far less varied. The only weapons you'll ever use are the pulse rifle, and shotgun. Every other weapon is situational, and it was annoying how little ammo you had. In Half Life 1, you had far more freedom how you chose to enter a gun fight.

Half life 2 does actually have more enemy variety than people give credit for. I think it's cause there's like 3 zombie types types and you only fight combine (and antions) that people overlook it.

Half Life 2 had more variety in levels, but I though HL1's levels were better designed.

the one thing I didn't like about OpFor is the huge night vision section. That said it was still a great expansion.
