The Last of Us 2 will be shaped around Neil Druckman's personal politics.
This is code for indulgent garbage that is designed to generate good press without having to improve your game.
Notice how studios lean on diversity and politics for brownie points instead of good writing and characterisation (the meme from the last generation before people realised what a load of bullshit that was).
Explicit political propaganda excuses designers from actually improving the fundamental issues with their games - like the boring and repetitive mechanics and cheap levelling/crafting system designed to pad out gameplay length.
Politics kill innovation.
Discuss.

god damn, you type like a retard.
can you say words normally or is this how millennials type these days?
Fuck off Shill, its not the time for PCuck salty tears.
Why the fuck does The Order get shit on for being a boring movie disguised as a game but not Last of Us?
>in a debate
>{uses quote} "the source for this quote comes from a video game"
>whole room chuckles
Because the main character isn't DADDY MATERIAL
because the last of us actually has gameplay.
it doesnt really have that much cutscenes as shitposters say.
not necessarily saying its a good game though.
What does "personal politics" even mean?
The politics he identifies with.
The Twittard who tweeted at him meant isn't as politics the Twittard doesn't agree with
>Personal politics in 1532
>Il Principe
>Personal politics in 2017
>Pic related
What went wrong?
hay retard this
>Druckmann was born in Israel on December 5, 1978
I'm fucking sick of Sony and I'm fucking sick of their SJW bullshit.
I almost wish I hadn't bought a ps4.
Fuck this company.
you used the word meme when you meant trend
Trends are by definition a sub class of memes
so that means he hates the muslims right?
the ones that attacked the frogs and germs
>Druckmann is a regular advocate of gender equality in video games, citing Anita Sarkeesian as an inspiration
> Druckmann is proud that Ellie is a "strong, non-sexualized female lead character", and hoped that other developers would take similar approaches to characters without fear of unpopularity
No because muslims are also an oppressed group and the enemy of my enemy (FUCKING STRAIGHT WHITE MALES) is my friend
There are Jews who're apologists for Muslims and blame whitey for ISIS crimes. I wish I was kidding.
So is TLoU1, then what?
>Druckmann is proud that Ellie is a "strong, non-sexualized female lead character
There is literally nothing wrong with this.
People that liked modern naughty dog, get what they get. Sleep in the bed you made.
Druckmann is going to single handedly kill Naughty Dog. He keeps pushing out all the talent from Naughty Dog, and Sony is pretty keen on killing studios.
are you guys aware that it was his and the other developer's personal politics and other convictions that helped shaped the previous game?
I went and read one of those articles and holy shit is the argumentation in favour of including politics garbage.
It's code for Druckman being an artist and not sculpting his work to fit into a neutered world view. If you want to consume media devoid of any politics or ideas, go to your local multiplex and watch the latest Marvel movie.
Druckman's point was that everything has personal politics involved. Sure that probably means the game will have a strong feminist angle to it, but that's not because Druckman is altering the idea to appeal to the Tumblr crowd, it's because that's what he believes is necessary to tell the best story possible.
Everything having a personal politics involved is a cop out argument.
There is a difference between someone like Neil who explicitly plasters his politics everywhere and the general game, which can be read politically but isn't the main focus.
Hey, as long as the game turns out good, I don't give a single shit about any subtext agendas it has. In Last of Us the whole stonk wymen thing was quite well integrated and felt organic and not forced. I liked the game a lot even though the gameplay was not that great and sometimes even openly boring and repetitive.
Another thing is though if they are going to build the game around "personal politics" or whatever and make it a game's selling point. That approach might result in a really shitty game. I cringed a little at that Nadine scene in UC4, they went too far there and it really felt unnatural and illogical, hope they won't repeat the same mistake.
I have no idea what you mean by "explicitly plasters his politics everywhere". I've played all of his games, and while many do feature strong female women, the focus is always on the story and not any agenda the creator may or may not have. If you're talking about his personal life or social media presence, I don't care about either and don't know why anyone would.
Also where did you get this absurd idea that the game won't be one that can be read politically with the primary focus being elsewhere? He replied to a genuinely stupid twitter request with "No".
>Hey, as long as the game turns out good, I don't give a single shit about any subtext agendas it has.
So if the game ends up being shit but gets reviewed well because "muh liberalism" you'll be okay with it?
PS4 is kill
You don't write in politics for the sake of your own mental masturbation, you consider what's believable in the cpntext of the world. I don't think critical theory and intersectional feminism is first on the plate of post-apocalyptic survivors. In fact, such ideas will get forgotten because ensuring your species don't die out is much more important than respecting your adopted daughter's gender pronouns. That is why politics in games is so shit. They are always hamfisted and written in for the sake of being political.
>Hey dad
>Hi my daughter
>Ugh dad, don't call me that. I found this ancient archive of internet and there was a site called tymblur. It said gender is a spectrum so now I'm a demiboy today
>Okay son
>x piece of media/art will be shaped around the creator's personal politics.
so like, every creative work ever made? if one isn't being creative as an expression of themselves, then they should probably creating desu.
RIPS4
basically this game will consist of a completely white room where elsa or whatever the fk the main characters name is screams at you why youre shit for being a white male
this is what video gaming has come to thanks to the jews
>Druckmann is proud that Ellie is a "strong, non-sexualized female lead character"
Doesn't spend much time on the internet, does he?
the Nadine scene is whined about only by manlets who no nothing about the martial arts.
>2 untrained men whose bar-room brawl fighting style is focused on cheap shots and luck
vs.
>1 woman of above average size who has been being trained in the art of combat for the entirety of her life
It'd be hilarious to watch these complainers get their asses beat by a woman who's taken a few months of krav maga or aikido.
Who gives a shit.
The director for the Senran Kagura games just want to share life and hometown. There is no difference here other than you disagree with their politics.
Neil goes out of his way to make political gestures in his game, senpai.
Jamie, pull up the quote where Uncharted 4's character design was held to ransom by a feminist concept artist.
And you know what - I don't know if he actually cares about the politics or if it's societal marketing.
That whole Nadine controversy comes form seeing puppet strings as the game is played out at that one moment. Naughty Dog wants to go for more mature and more realistic, but if we people those strings, it ends up looking all the more fake
Your logic is actually idiotic. Take your strawman somewhere else.
Then don't buy/play the game. Jesus Christ, it really is THAT simple.
Scared I might convince others to do the same?
sounds right to me
but then again I've never played the game, or for that matter seen any videos or webms of it,
or is it just all cutscenes?
Well, now the rest of us know.
And can have a video game related discussion around it.
Those assholes just trying to get free advertisement. Every sonynigger would buy this game no matter what, so they can just safe money on marketing this way.
but theres plenty wrong wtih
> citing Anita Sarkeesian as an inspiration
I'm now curious whether or not he knows about all the SFM porn.
>playing Western cuck propaganda
What are you doing
Funny thing, I never played the first game, so I don't give a shit.
well if whitey didnt rush to bomb iraq and afghan, isis wouldnt exist.
If you really are upset and want to spend a bunch of time/effort trying to change people's minds (and think you can actually do that), do whatever the hell you want.
One is politics and the other is showing off tits and ass.
There is a huge difference. Just because two people shove shit in your face doesn't mean the shit is identical.
>Neil goes out of his way to make political gestures in his game, senpai.
Examples. Take into account the context before posting some stupid shit.
>Jamie, pull up the quote where Uncharted 4's character design was held to ransom by a feminist concept artist.
I don't care about the development politics outside the game itself. No one should, as it is a sign that their life is very, very unfulfilled. Keep the discussion tied to the game as a standalone product.
>And you know what - I don't know if he actually cares about the politics or if it's societal marketing.
Ok, then stop arguing. If your argument was: "I am a man who has very little social contact or cultural experience besides that of my hometown and the place I moved after college, and it makes me uncomfortable when ideas that contradict my own are popularized" we'd have something to talk about.
The strawman was there for comedic effect, not the main point.
Tell me how it's not identical.
They are creating an item for consumption, they are putting whatever they feel like putting in it, you have to make the decision if you want to purchase it or not.
You aren't changing anyone's mind, just reinforcing the ideas of paranoid male conspiracy theorists like your self.
>making the characters in your game attractive is the same as shoehorning your political beliefs into your game without actually making it a good game just because you want SJW back pats
How are these similar in any way
>i have no argument: the post
feast your eyes on this kiddies, cool guy greg think he has anything to offer anyone
>P-P-POLITICS IN MEDIA ARE BAD! NOTHING SHOULD REFLECT ANYONE'S VIEWS!
>HEY STOP CENSORING THE DEVELOPER'S ORIGINAL INTENT! DEVELOPERS SHOULD GET TO MAKE THE GAMES THEY WANT TO MAKE!
Hypocritical sons of whores.
The worst thing about all this? I liked The Last of Us. The campaign was great even if the story wasn't all that good, the multiplayer was great and even if the AI sucked it was still enjoyable enough. I've finished the campaign 4 times by now. When writers feel the need to be political their stories always suck. It's the mark of a B writer. I'm pretty sure Naughty Dog doesn't even understand what made tlou so enjoyable in the first place. It felt realistic and it was more normal than most zombie fiction. Zombies happened, here's a thing that happened like 20 years later. Instead "part 2" is set up to be this revenge story which is just so fucking boring and cliche.
Evem my casual brother is fed up with being spoofed San Fran bullshit in video games.
"Why would they do that. What's the point in making her gay?"
Intersectionality is a fucking disease. If they make a game that represents .2% of the wold populatiob and expect people to love it, they're in for a rude awakening.
>making the characters in your game womyn empowering is the same as shoehorning sexy tits and ass into your game without actually making it a good game just because you want otaku back pats
...
You main point is a strawman. The first sentence you wrote pretends that its second half is not present in the writing process of Druckman's games, while it is along with a microcosm of other rules and ideas. Politics are inherent in human experience. Kubrick and Lynch have politics in their films. Ueda and Miyamoto have politics in their games.
The internet can sexualize door knobs nigga, it still stands that her character was designed as non-sexualized.
It is, if you consider from what point of view he is talking.
> citing Anita Sarkeesian as an inspiration
I'm a left leaning person but this is getting fucking tiresome
stop injecting marxist bullshit into video games
STOP
>No sexualized character = woman with no boobs and With a 12 years old body of a boy
God I miss the 90s where women were proud of their bodies
I wont buy ND games anymore because I dont want to support propaganda as is making society more and more toxic
If you don't like their politics just boycott the game, its that simple
Yeah why shouldn't I? I don't read reviews so I won't be buttmad if they praise another trendy garbage. I'd be a little sad though for the game being shit because I like to play good games myself.
>untrained men
>Nathan who spent his whole life fighting and killing skilled mercenaries, pirates and bandits
>Samuel who spent his whole life in prison surrounded by hardcore latino og
>untrained
Uh-huh right
...
the first last of us game had political leanings and it was good, so shut the fuck up
I find it really hard to believe that a post-apoc survivor gives a fuck about any political agenda.
>Examples
Inability to hang any shit on Nadine Ross in Uncharted 4 because strong independent black lady.
Just one example that I imagine you won't be happy because...
>I don't care about the development politics outside the game itself. No one should, as it is a sign that their life is very, very unfulfilled. Keep the discussion tied to the game as a standalone product.
This is an unbelievable statement. Those development politics shaped the character design as I posted earlier.
The websites that reported this story clearly felt it was important to inform readers of.
>Ok, then stop arguing. If your argument was: "I am a man who has very little social contact or cultural experience besides that of my hometown and the place I moved after college, and it makes me uncomfortable when ideas that contradict my own are popularized" we'd have something to talk about.
From me to you - go fuck yourself.
What life experience do you have? Did you travel to Europe and get really fucked up that one time?
You're not special, your experiences are not unique and you're most likely a hypocrite like thousands of your fellow liberals who are having perpetual hissy fits over the commander in chief.
And yes, I'm assuming you're a libtard because of that special kind of smug you exhibited while defending a leftist dev.
You'll get over it I'm sure.
How many of those movies have shoehorned underage interracial lesbianism?
Did Nathan Drake fight a bear in Uncharted 4 by any chance?
Figures he would be inspired by mediocre movies after The Last of Us
The whole middle aged man taking care of a teen girl who reminds him of his daughter trying to journey with her to a specific place is a pretty over used archetype(if that is the right word) too
And with whitey you mean the kike puppet USA i assume?
I disagree. Especially in gaming. Joel for example is an experienced killer but he's fucked up and doesn't want to talk about it. Most protagonists in games are more like Kratos or mary sues by comparison.
Like what? It just seemed pretty much like a copy of that one western movie from the 2005-2010s where some old cowboy had to take this teen girl somewhere but with zombies
shit taste desu
Well, ok Children of men is not that great and no country for old men fails miserably in comparison to the book (while still being a great movie though), but Revenant is fucking stellar
last of us had a much, much better story (even if it is still slightly overrated), it's three to four times as long, and it actually has legitimately tense gameplay once in a while
>Inability to hang any shit on Nadine Ross
So if it had been a man in your completely unrealistic, Indiana Jones inspired, physics bereft video game who was faster and more a competent fighter than the main character (and is only seen fighting for two 2 minute segments of the game), you'd have the same problem? I would also add that the scene is not unrealistic, but it's clear that you'd just restate something along the lines of .
I also maintain that I don't care about showbiz drama, and that no one should, but you go ahead and maintain your tunnel vision on that matter.
>The websites that reported this story clearly felt it was important to inform readers of
This is a dumb statement. It is common knowledge that showbiz periodicals are nothing but sensationalist dribble that catch the eyes of the average person through controversial topics and misleading wording. It is also known that video game journalism is a joke and has not seen a single worthwhile writer or editor in its industry.
But Joel is a Mary Sue
I found way more original the relationship between Farah and the prince of Persia, the man-woman is underused and way more interesting than a daughterfu
GOW would be more interesting if it was him with another woman instead of another kid we have to protect and of course he will be cringey perfect son material
I hate SJW shit but he is right there.
Revenant is worth watching but that's all. It doesn't compare to GOAT movies. I think casuals enjoyed it so much because they don't wanna watch "older" movies.
>instead of good writing and characterisation
But Last of Us and Uncharted had this.
The thing people complain about is the gameplay, not the writing or the charactes.
Bruh it was true grit but with zombies. And it is over used. The new Logan movie has it, the walking dead games had it, and there are probably more
>especially in gaming
>starts talking about movies
user...
When I was trying to break down TLoU story, I realized that it's pretty much your average road movie with zombies, or even the Road basically. However when you play the game, story feels really interesting and immersive. It's all about how the story is told, how characters behave, how decorations change just slightly and how the story is paced. Great shifts from action to drama to thriller and horror episodes and then back to intense action that leads seamlessly to another big drama point.
When you try to explain the story to somebody it sounds very generic with a shitton of cliche, which it is. Exceptionally well told generic story
You have bad taste and are likely below average intelligence. Don't talk about movies.
>He really thinks Nadine, a skinny lanky ass woman, can actually fuck up Nathan, a big guy built of muscle and power
All Nathan had to do was to rush Nadine and pin her. Instead he and his brother let her just beat them up like they are femdom fetishists or something.
>When you try to explain the story to somebody it sounds very generic with a shitton of cliche, which it is. Exceptionally well told generic story
A good story doesn't need depth or extreme complexity. That's a common misconception people have.
Take the Odyssey for example, it's just about a guy trying to get home, but it's a great story.
