I'm still mad

I'm still mad

why did you remind me of this, user

I'm sorry

>tfw the only hope for the future of the franchise is if it reappears in KH3

How Square ever made a game this amazing and unique is beyond me

What was this actually about again? The mobile game?
What was that one brunette with the headphones about?

More importantly. Why are games only on iOS but not on Android?
Not that I would buy them, just curious.

Which squeenix games are only on ios?

Also it's easier to develop for ios, the hardware is standardized, not entirely, but significantly moreso than android.

Not only Square Enix.
Ace Attorney games are on iOS only iirc
Also some other Capcom games.

That's literally the last actually good game Square has made in the past years

Bravely Default wasn't good, the soundtrack was great but everything else was just people being starved for a standard JRPG with classes

>Bravely Default wasn't good
The first half of it was great, everything after chapter 5 was like pulling teeth

STOP REMINDING ME THAT THIS WAS A THING THAT HAPPENED

I feel like the first third was good and then after that the flaws start showing up

One of my main gripes was the combat. In random encounters, you have to brave 4x and defeat everything in a single turn or else you would die. It was so flimsy that even game overs weren't a big deal, considering you have an autosave at every screen. Also most classes were completely useless

Honestly for the second half of the game I just turned encounters off, and just played with the bosses.

this

the combat system did nothing to change typical JRPG gameplay. you still just heal when you need to and spam your best moves except now you guard ('default') for three turns in between. all it really did was completely trivialise any non boss fights because you can just brave x3 and one shot everything

story was ass, world and dungeon design was ass -- everything about Bravely Default was so generic and forgettable and this is before the time shenanigans

why you gotta do me like this user?

Bravely Default was interesting until I got Red Mage and Ninja.

Then I just became incapable of physical damage and got endlessly free turns.

Add Chapters >5 to the mix and I see no point to this shit anymore.

Love'd the artwork and music though.

>You want read or die powers?
>well fuck you

The secret reports were pretty cool

Fuck you square enix

I feel like, while all games do have something that is broken, like FFT's double-handed monk and other strats like that, Bravely Default forced you into abusing retarded stuff to the point it wasn't a cool moment when you discovered a powerful combo, it was just "eh, I have another way to kill stuff"

That combined with over half the classes being completely useless killed my mood to actually finish it

It is commendable for being one of the only games to use the DS to it's advantage. Combat was so fast and fun when you got used to it. Plus it had one of the best hip hop and rock inspired soundtracks since P3.

And then they fuck it up with a weird teaser that never paid off

why
why did you have to remind me

Not only that but it had great characters, a great story, and actually improved on a lot of genre conventions in really ingenious ways(ability to adjust your level at will, ability to change the difficulty at will, both of these adjust the drop rates of items, etc)

It's astonishing how much the game got right, considering how many weird, risky choices it made. Really one of the paragons of creativity in the industry

>mfw every time this thread is made

...

Because I was playing DDD and Shiki tripped and fell into the fountain and I thought "I miss that game"
