What's more pathetic?

What's more pathetic?

Cheating in multiplayer games (god mode, wallhack, botting etc.)

Cheating in singleplayer games (god mode, infinite ammo, spawning gear and items to nullify grind etc.)

>Cheating in a single-player game
>Pathetic

It's their game, and it's not affecting anyone else.

Depends on context but the most pathetic would probably be singleplayer while using tools to pass it off as a skillrun

Multiplayer.

Seeking out a challenge and then pussying out on it is much worse than at least being able to pretend you played it for the story.

Multiplayer. If your playing by yourself or just with friends you can do whatever you want as long as your having fun. But if you cheat online in a public venue you're just going out of your way to sour the time of people who are trying to play the game properly.

I like that jump!

nothing wrong with modifying a single player game to make it fun for you

why else would you play a game?

I don't care what you do in SP games, but you're a faggot if you cheat in competitive MP games. The only real cheating I'm okay with in MP is skipping grinding like getting a bunch of money in GTAO.

Why would anyone care what people do in SP games? Only autists get mad at someone for goofing around with infinite health and playing at their own pace.

Who did this

Multiplayer.

You're intentionally upsetting the balance of the playing field in order to give yourself an unfair advantage because you lack the skill to beat other players, thus ruining their fun.

Cheating in a single-player game is not to the expense of another person's fun.

I just cheat on multiplayer because i love the reactions of people who get shat on

>have wallhack + autoshoot on CS
>play as T
>stand on my side of the map on dust2
>everytime a CT passes through the door they get killed 2 seconds into the round or hit by 99 damage
>they leave the server

I know i was a shithead but it was fun for me to hear people angry on the microphone or see them leave the server, and they didn't even find out i was cheating because unlike most hack users i can set up a fucking hotkey to disable it and "lose on purpose" a couple of times so my score wouldn't end up being 50-0

Using cheats on singleplayer is a disgrace though, the only thing i may have done is using Cheat engine to speed up some turn-based games

>Using cheats on singleplayer is a disgrace though
You're a fucking hypocrite of the biggest caliber.

Definitely multiplayer, in that case you're using it as a tool to show off. Whereas in singleplayer you aren't being fake or anything you're just doing something that lets you have more fun. Not to mention in multiplayer you are often making everyone else's experience worse.

well if someone cheats in xenoblade chronicles x and just gives themselves the best gear, best skells etc where you have to work very hard for to get them legit, that's pretty pathetic to me

pathetic is complaining

using cheats in san andreas was way more fun than just playing it normally
if you cheat in multiplayer you're a fucking faggot who needs to be shot

>im shit at games

Complaining about hackers in multiplayer games

They only do it because they know its going to trigger some autist like you, see cs:go

Multiplayer games.
While cheating on your first playthrough in a single player game is still scummy, no-one's being put at a disadvantage.
Really, in single player games it's for fun, Multiplayer cheating is a no-go.

Cheating in single is more pathetic. In multiplayer it can at least serve as a trolling method, since it always pisses people off. But in singleplayer?? They just ruin their gaming session.

What kind of question is this? Multiplayer obviously.
You're ruining the game for others.

It can be fun to fuck around as a god in single player.

Whos that semen demon?

Depends on what they're using it for really

If people use it in single player to skip content I just question why they bother. You're just cheating yourself out of your own money.

Same with multiplayer. But some people do it just to annoy others playing the game so I guess at least they're getting something out of it and not just paying for a game they don't want to actually play.

All other instances like just dicking around or using them after you've already beaten the game to explore or whatever seem fine.

i disagree, i've seen plenty of hackers who are very subtle with it and toggle it on and off. i've had situations were we found out a guy was hacking after playing with him for months.

OP here, this guy is the only one who got it right. Multiplayer is ok. It's still shit but you can have fun, and get something like (You)'s out of it. Shitposting aka cheating in games can be fun. Admit it, you love it aswell.
But cheating in SP games is so fucking pathetic I can't even wrap my head around it. Why would you cheat in a SP game? Why rob you of what makes the SP campaign fun? Why skip shit? You woudn't even need to play in the first place. Why not just teleport right to the end credits? It's virtually the fucking same

There is nothing wrong with cheating in single player games if you've already completed them normally once. Prove me wrong. (protip, you can't)

Cheating is just pathetic outright. There's no "is cheating more pathetic here or there". Cheating is just simply pathetic.
If you cheat in any facet of life, be it in video games, studies, relationship or otherwise - you are extremely pathetic. Case closed.

You've never played GTA with cheats and just caused havoc?

agreed, watching triggered autists is fun though

...

So pretty much like cs:go pros

I can't reply to this without sounding like goal post moving faggot but yes, of course. Guess when I was making this thread I was more talking about "serious" RPG style of games with clear progression in mind. GTA is known for being a "fuck around in it" game and it even has built in cheats to be able to fuck around some more

>Being a loser who surrenders himself to a fate decided by some not-necessarily competent game dev
>Not being an alpha who hacks reality and takes the reins
Really, REALLY made me stink

If you cheat in MP to get status, you are a fag.

If you cheat in SP to get ahead in the story, you are bad and should feel bad.

If you cheat in SP to fuck around, you are normal.

If you cheat in MP to fuck around, you are normal UNLESS you are doing it in a competitive mode, then you are a dick.

What about games that tell you cheats as a reward. Is it cheating if you don't learn the cheats from the game. Is it cheating if you start a new file and use cheats that you were only supposed to know about on the old file

/thread

Cheating in real life, obviously.

People who claim to have beaten the game when they used cheats should be gassed. People who use cheats because they already finished the game and just want to mess around are ok, more power to them. Script kiddies aren't people, they're untermensch.

I didn't know there are golden trousers to win for beating the game.
I play games for fun and you people still found a way to get triggered by it.

I don't care if you use cheats, but if you do, you haven't "beaten" the game. Simple as that.

I remember my friend used a speedhack on Elder Scrolls Online because he didn't want to pay for a horse. It was as funny as fuck watching him racing around like Usain Bolt.

This is embarassing to read and the worst part is, it's the mentality of most people who cheat in online games.

It's only marginally less pathetic than being a closet cheater, but actually trying to justify it the way you do and then going and saying cheating in single player is a disgrace is laughable.

How dare people enjoy a game at their own pace, meanwhile you will purposefully disrupt a game other living people are actually playing and trying to enjoy just for your own amusement, GOD FORBID someone do it in singleplayer.

Not to mention most of the cheating done in singleplayer games is not even CLOSE to the types of "cheats" that are used in a online FPS. I mean come on, are you actually going to sit there and say someone activating god mode and playing however they see fit is a disgrace when you do something MUCH worse in terms of a skill standpoint. The person cheating in a single player game still actually has to aim, that's something you don't have to, or should I say, cannot do.

Crysis is modded for me so that the suit recharge starts in a quarter of a second, cloaking eats half as much energy, firing a gun in strength mode doesn't drain energy, and speed mode drains no energy and the speed scale is 2.3 compared to 1.85. For you to compare something like that to an aimbot is a literal joke and just goes to show the type of mentality someone who cheats in an online game has.
You are literal trash at shooting games and constantly get dumpstered, that is the ONLY reason people like you download external assistance, if you were truly any good you could incite rage off of natural play alone. You will never know what it's like to experience that feeling of actually being better than somebody and making them angry because of it, you will always need to rely on something coded by another human being just so you can "enjoy yourself"

Some one with a brain? On Sup Forums? What a strange world we live in.

not OP, but related question

what's the most pathetic common cheater "archetype" when it comes to MP cheaters?

>the "troll"
not subtle at all, all out "ragehack" from the very start. gives no shits about getting their 14th alt banned.

>the compensator
can be an idiot or kid using unconfigured cheats to make up for a lack of skill thinking they won't be caught, or someone that actually configures their cheat well enough to not be spotted until they're against well above average players. well-configured triggetbots and the ability to use walls/esp without being a retard tracking people through walls apply here

>the counter-cheater
has a cheat to "counter" other cheaters. might actually do that, but probably uses more subtle cheat components like walls/esp at all times. even if they truly only bring out their cheats when they feel like they are against a cheater, they are likely to think anyone beating them even in a legit game cheats, and they will usually toggle. not uncommon they actually do it on their main accounts with """undetected""" paid/private cheats

>the curious
actual curious people that are doing it for the first time, often kids or teenagers. can easily lead to any other category if they get hooked on cheating

>the "programmer"
they might use their cheat, or might make others use/test it for them, but they view it more as programming practice and anti-cheat as a challenge to overcome. might be a faggot that end up selling their cheat to enough people to fuck up an entire game on their own, or they might keep it to themselves/their team and be subtle about it.

>the "i'm one of the good ones!" guy
less common cheaters that do weird and not inherently unfair things. might godmode and then proceed to not do any fighting, mess with the game (low gravity, skipping grind, other "modder" stuff) and then cry online when they get banned because their cheat was detected, starting arguements about how they made the game more fun and fresh for everyone

what if I "cheat" in SP games to make it harder?
if built-in cheats like GTA count, .ini tweaking and the like should count too as you can easily use it to breeze through a game a lot of the time
i'm a bit autistic and like making shooters a lot more lethal if i can, which doesn't exactly make it easier if it's a hitscan-oriented health regen shitfest

I cheat often in singleplayer games since it feels like a waste of time to grind on them anyway.
I find cheaters in multiplayer games hilarious. I love the chaos they bring. Mostly talking about fps games here. I would love to use them myself but I can't be bothered to find any and it's likely they are unsafe anyway. They just seem so fun. I'm also already a very skilled fps player that can get the top score in any shitty pub from whatever.

I have a cheat in for payday 2
I only ever play it with my 4 man crew so sometimes if we are just mucking about I'll randomly spawn in 100 dozers or give everyone explosive bullets.

Then again mutators are vanilla now so thats a thing.

In multiplayer, because the whole point is to compare to other people. Ultimately, the only person who gets fucked by hacks is the user, but the overall quality of the game suffers as a whole as well.

On the other hand, in singleplayer games, not only are there points where using hacks is legitimate (e.g. very weird levelscaling methods for enemies that makes it so the game can become unwinnable unless you had gone out of your way to avoid every single fight in the game, or similarly, a turn-based game where the boss has a move that deals damage based on how many enemies you killed, which is always a one-hit KO on your whole group unless you had only ever fought bosses), but cheats can allow you to test things (e.g. decide in advance what build you'd like to try) or increase fun (tune content or effectively change the genre, such as being able to play a linear game as a (buggy sandbox)). Thus, it's not pathetic.
