And how did requiring a school/work e-mail influece it's community
What made them so big and active

The people on that site are not sane. Read the offtopic section. SJW madness.
Because they give recognition to people and it's not called gamefaqs.
they've been around a long time and have built up a rather positive reputation for anyone who isn't a rightist
the school/work e-mail requirement causes their userbase to have a higher average age than websites that do not require it. the moderation keeps discussions from turning into shit flinging fests, and users mostly carry themselves with respect because not being respectful means getting the banhammer.
They also operate like the Gestapo
You say the school/work e-mail requirement causes the userbase to have a higher average age than websites that do not require, but then I read ANY discussion and it looks like teens pretending to be 20 years old like evey other website. It's like Sup Forums in general but instead of saying cuck and niggers is racist and sexists and users have nicks.
Looks more sane than Sup Forums
They used to be the forum for talking to devs. It had a mostly older user base and lots of devs were active users. It was much better ten years ago. Now it's junk. Crazy junk.
>users mostly carry themselves with respect because not being respectful means getting the banhammer.
You mean respect for anyone that shares their opinion. As long as their opinion lines up with the mods they can be as nasty as they want to the people they're debating but on the flip side the mods will ban anyone who doesn't follow the groupthink of the rest of the forum even if they are the most civil person ever.
>school/work e-mail requirement
does one of those disposable/temporary e-mail work?
They sure do trigger Sup Forumsddit.
>that 500+ page election results thread
It's like a drug to me.
post it
>rather positive reputation
>The easiest site to get banned on for having a wrong opinion
Fuck off I'd rather be on Something Awful
It's a gaming forum, you can easily browse it while completely ignoring all political shit, all it takes is not being as autistic as the mods.
I never even heard of the site until a couple years ago. Or maybe I did and dismissed it because I thought it was something to do with Neopets.
As long as it seems that it comes from a college or workplace yeah, but they have to accept your petition meaning you can wait half a year to only have it refused.
>big
I never hear about them unless they're getting their ass blown out over something
>active
Their userbase has been dwindling since they started banning everyone with a dissenting opinion.
If you can't state you're opinion in a civil manner without getting banned just because the mods disagree with said opinion then the forum isn't worth jack shit. Also it's hard to avoid the politics because they inject it into fucking everything these days.
>Higher average age
I see people posting on that site who advertise they're under 18 all the time. Hell I saw someone posting who said he wasn't even 15.
...
this one is a treat
In retrospect this post is even more funny now that everyone knows the PS4Pro is a steaming pile of dogshit.
...
I mean, he is EviLore, he is a scumbag, but in things like this I kind of agree with him.
>Fuck you because you want us to do something
>w-we thought of it first but now we're not going to do it
Literal school yard logic. This guy can't be older than 13 based on his powertrip.

Realistically, how much money would it take to get GAF shut down permanently? Buying out the owners if you had to?
It doesn't need to exist being simply a cuck echochamber
>What made them so big and active
They were first and actually good back then. Even real developers participated before they ran them all off.
it's simply a liberal Sup Forums
He's the owner of the site and is like 30 years old.
neogafs offtopic is all about how Trump will destroy the world
Sup Forums is all about how Trump will save the world
Can't tell you OP. I've long since done away with gaming journalism and reviewers. I only get my news from the source and at the end of the day only my own opinion counts and I know my own tastes are.
They offer nothing of value to me so I've never been motivated to go there.
Sad. Some people never grow up.
More likely that the original thread started with some prick whining about something as insignificant as a logo change for a day
Who gives a fuck man jesus
what about the little community threads on niche topics like this:
I wonder what happened to that black mod Bish, he would ban anyone for saying that politics shit doesn't belong in their gaming section and banning anyone who doesn't suck the dick of BLM
They're riding on the coattails of their previous success before they bought into identity politics and political intolerance. Now they're an echo chamber for virtue signaling elitists that aren't interested in an honest discussion because they can't and won't tolerate alternative opinions.
...
sounds like a board on Sup Forums
By hacking into it. Over and over and over again. Make it a pain to use.
