Xenogears is really goid at giving you the feeling of an unfolding story.

FFVII is great at slowly opening up its world to the player.

FFXII's world building and atmosphere is one of if not the most consistent and best in the series.

Kakyoin wanted to fuck Jotaro's mom (and also really liked the fact that Jotaro spared him despite the fact that he just wanted to find out about DIO) and Iggy was dragged into it unwillingly. That's the whole reason why he's such a little shit for the entire part.

Kakyoin felt indebted to Jotaro's mother for looking after him after he had the fleshbud removed. Also, Kakyoin hated the fear and helplessness that Dio made him feel when he came across him in Egypt and refused to ever feel that way again, he was looking for redemption and to, you know, stop an evil guy from taking over the world as a tyrant. Avdol is the same deal, friends with Joseph, encountered Dio and understood how dangerous he was, wanted to save the world.

And Iggy, you cannot be serious. Iggy didn't give a fuck, he did whatever he wanted and always internally complained about being brought in for the entire thing and refused to help. It's only after Dio's stand users started fucking with him that he took it personally and wanted revenge. It was all about pride of Iggy, that was the character.

Have you already read the manga? Then sure. All the parts have been done well, but Part 3 was a bit shoddy. Part 4 is also pretty different from the manga in some parts (and fixes a lot of problems it had), so it's worth watching just for that.

Why does Dragon Quest 8 feel more like an adventure game than Dragon Quest 7? Just curious, haven't played either of them yet.

The games I felt like were "big adventures" that you go on a journey with friends are definitely Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, and Witcher 3 as ones that stand out to me. Haven't played any other Tales games.

Part 1 is messy part 2 is less messy part 3 is monster of the week and part 4 is slice of life mixed with monster of the week. Keep in mind it was released in a weekly format and a when certain tropes were really popular. If you don't like it after part 2 then I guess it isn't for you.

To be fair a lot of JoJo fans are rather annoying, but in some cases there are plenty of actual references to the series in Japanese media and such. It's more common in anime and manga and such but it's happened in a few games as well.
