I still think its too early to call it a bomb. They are having trouble meeting demands in international markets. its sold out in many places along with PSVR. Japan just received its second shipment since launch a couple of days ago. The pro is sold out basically everywhere I live except for 2 stores. I'm hoping to get one tomorrow. And a PSVR after E3 if Sony can sell me on it.

It successfully baited Microsoft into R&D''ing the Scorpio which caused Scalebound to get canceled because they had to prioritize their budget for hardware development and manufacturing. Turns out Microsoft true 4K claim and VR-compatability was a piepe dream. The Scorpio will use checkerboard to 4K instead of true 4K. Fucking hilarious. Xbox division is a complete and utter joke, they care more about damage controlling Sony's every move to realize the commercial viability of a product and made themselves look like the biggest looser in this situation. Scorpio loosing VR before it's even out and back peddling on ''True 4K'' for upscaling is comedy gold.

Horizon, Spiderman, God Of War, Gran Turismo and Bloodborne 2, The Last Of Us 2 and more will have checkerboard 4K versions and look fantastic.

Scorpio will have Gears of war 5, Forza 7, Halo 6... and.. u-u-uh..

Sony does release sale figures. They had a big announcement when the ps4 crossed 50 million sales.

Exactly my point. The scorpio will cost more than the Pro and offer less games. Scorpio will be the one competing with PC without offering any of it's advantages. If people were reluctant to buy the Pro at $400 the Scorpio is going to eat shit, naturally. $400 is the maximum people are willing to spend on consoles but the Pro offers value at that price point and exclusives to back it up.

The Xbox has 1 exclusive right now, and it's only partially exclusive. Xbox scorpio has no games

There was a ton of concern that Scorpio would basically be a locked down Windows 10 gaming PC, Spencer had to confirm it was a traditional console, although they could still go back on that. Idorts haven't been rare for over 10 years. It has gotten easier and easier to have a gaming Pc. Pre-mades are everywhere and affordable and building a PC now costs less than pre-build and putting one together is like playing with legos.

The PS4 Pros have been pretty easy to find where I live (a large city in the U.S.) I could find one anytime I want, I think.

However, the PSVR has been sheer hell to find. I finally managed to get one and asked about how quickly these things are selling. The Best Buy store mentioned they received about 5 or 6 of them and sold them all within one week. On average, each store is selling about one or two units per day.

Best Buy also doesn't seem to advertise that they've new stock. I registered to be notified and never got e-mail. So the 1 or 2 units sold per day are practically impulse purchases since I suspect many of the people who bought them did not know that they were available in the stores.

PCs are becoming consoles. When I was a PC gamer in the nineties a PC was VERY different from a Playstation.

Today PC gaming is much like console gaming now. Steam looks like PSN, we all use the same controllers, we all couch game and the games on PC and Playstation are the same. The only difference today is entry price.

I don't know what happened first, consoles becoming cheap gaming PCs or PCs becoming expensive gaming consoles. Time flies.

As a PC gamer I'm all for the pro. I think regular incremental upgrades will become a thing.And need to become a thing if the console market wants to stay relevant and competitive. Otherwise they just fall behind compared to PC. Console gamers may not like it but its just something you'll have to get used to.

I think plenty of people bought them who didn't already have a PS4, but for almost everyone else who already had one there's no reason to upgrade. Sure, some games are broken on the base model like TLG but those are really the only reasons you would buy one of these.

I bought a PS4 in 2015 and it is FINALLY getting a decent amount of games this year, all of which are either cross-gen games (Persona 5, Yakuza, etc) or games like Nier Automata and Nioh which look fine at run at 60fps anyway. They made a mistake trying to copy the PC model of upgrading every 3 years for minimal returns, games are still made for the base PS4 and the pro just gets a few bonus performance features here and there, if it was vice versa it would have sold much better.

I'd buy one, but there are no fucking bundles for it. I'm not spending $400 without at least one "free" game.

i'd buy one on release for the simple reason that it's massively superior to the pro and will have better visuals than the pro in multiplats. only retards would buy a console solely for 3 exclusives a year over buying a console which has better visuals and performance across all other games in that same year.

I'm very surprised to hear that there is a PS4 Pro shortage in some markets. It would seem pretty easy for Sony to crank out a lot of PS4 Pros since supply chain for parts should be well-established, unlike PSVR.

I'm still waiting for a really good game that is far superior on PS4 Pro than PS4, though. To the best of my knowledge, no game has yet justified buying a PS4 Pro over a regular PS4. Purportedly, PSVR benefits from PS4 Pro but I haven't seen any comparisons yet.

Yeah I bought a Pro because I was waiting to jump into this gen. For the extra 100 you get a nice piece of hardware that will last a while.

The Pro is a good choice for people who don't have a PS4 yet but not worth the upgrade if you already have a PS4 imo, 4k is worthless.

People who already have a PS4 and aren't drowning in money are best off staying with the PS4 and waiting for games they like that are noticeably better on PS4 Pro before upgrading.

So far, the improvements on PS4 Pro are measurable (Digital Foundry's videos are useful, IMO) but the differences are not that easy to spot if you're engrossed in playing the game.

I'm a mustard rice but decided to get a new console that has a good library of exclusives. I was torn between Switch and PS4 Pro because they're the same fucking price in (500 aus didgeridollaridoos). My Wii U is gonna have some cheaper games coming out now that Nintendo have publicly abandoned it instead of just secretly but a lot of them are just platformers and shit like that, kinda meh. I ended up deciding to get the pro because the Switch has fuck all games coming out within months of launch whereas the PS4 already has a large library of exclusive games, saving up my neet dollars now.

This upgrade is meaningless when THE RIZEN POWERED Scorpio and PS5 will be released either late this year or mid next year.
They will be cashing in on backwards compatibility with enhancements aswell since they are going to share the same architecture from now on.
