What's Sup Forums opinion on this?
New Undertale?
Other urls found in this thread:
OneShot came years before Undertale
Also I want to love Niko.
I like it, Niko is cute
Having to wait another 2 months for whatever's next is gonna kill me, though
Alright I'll play this tonight. What's it like? Anything to keep in mind while playing?
>another 2 months for whatever's next
You mean like a sequel or something?
Was that a shot at Undertale fans?
Idk, theres some timer counting down to something.
There is apparently to be an update in march.
As for what to expect, it's hard to say without spoiling anything, classic adventure game with some unique elements thrown in.
Certainly seems it.
I liked it. The tower area was especially interesting.
So a new game?
>New Undertale?
What did he mean by this?
tfw no cat son to protect
Well?
So are well confirming Niko to be a dude?
Because that would be nice
You wanna fuck him don't you......
No.
I just think its cute to have a little brother.
Return the sun, obviously.
What do they have in common beyond being indie 2d rpg ?
Is it a RPG maker game ? if yes then if there is rpg combats, they are going to be a lot worse than the ones in Undertale.
Shit, this looks cool. Thanks OP.

Hmm...
>What do they have in common beyond being indie 2d rpg ?
They both play around with 4th-wall breaking, specifically with the idea of being a game you're running on a PC.
For Undertale, it's more "textual" - characters call you out on making choices just for the sake of seeing game content and does some funny stuff with your save file.
OneShot is much more mechanical - it creates documents in your PC's Documents folder, changes your wallpaper to solve puzzles, and even has you run a separate executable alongside the game, which you have to line up the two application windows. There's also story stuff that ties to these mechanics.
Will you do lewd stuff to him? In a brotherly way
I got a lot more attached to niko than I did any of the characters in undertale. I liked both games, I thought one shot was better in the story department.
Multiple endings?
I loved all the silly extra stuff like this
>The photo where Niko blinks is unusable
Technology
ITS THE JEWS NIGGA!!!
You could argue that there is almost no fourth wall breaking (Sans looking at the screen for a joke and Flowey mocking those watching let's plays of the Genocide Run because they don't dare to play it themselves) in Undertale but that there is game-like "mechanics" in-universe instead (unlike a game like OFF where two or maybe three characters are explicitly aware of being videogame characters) and their similitude to true game mechanics can even be seen as a form of red herring but I understad what you mean.

Sounds interresting.
Too lazy to go to the archives, but stop shilling your crappy little game.
Are hugs and kisses lewd?
This came out years ago dumbass.
Couldn't you have given this literally ANY other title? Making the title "new Undertale" is just asking for shitposting.
Its an RPGMaker game with a heavy emphasis on exploration. While exploring, in order to continue, you have to solve puzzles, some of which require you to think outside of the game in order to solve them. Additionally, you pick up items that you can use to progress by combining them with other items. The game has a very somber atmosphere.
They are allowed, but ear fondling isn't
I dunno, is it good?
I've been looking for a new Underlike to play recently.
Honestly its the way he acts, like I know you're supposed to be god but Niko always comes off like hes speaking to an older brother type deal.
I would say so, but it depends upon whether or not you can live with and enjoy playing a game that doesn't have much in terms of actual gameplay. The game is mostly exploration and puzzle solving.
Its strong points are its unique puzzles, somber atmosphere, and pretty music

I enjoyed it a bit more than Undertale. The soundtrack isn't as good but everything else is better if not equal to Undertale. (there's no combat btw)
>I dunno, is it good?
Yes, very.
But don't expect a lot of up-and-downs and major gameplay variety like Undertale has.
It's very simple and somber, but executes on that very well.
>not Omori
>new
It's cute but there's just far too little game spread over the 2 hours it takes from start to finish.
Omori isn't out yet
That's what really drew me in. I wasn't expecting to get so attached to a cat.
He is a cat right?
>Hiveswap delayed again.
yeah
is there any inventive to playing the paid version over the free version i played years ago?
He's a robot
The paid version has a lot more content and gives the world a lot more character. Apparently the choice at the end is a lot tougher because the world has just as many likeable characters.
More puzzles, larger areas, and different dialogue. Also this version can be replayed, while the original can't. The differences make it a somewhat different game, for better or worse
I thought this was going to be the New Undertale.
I played the Steam version and it took me 4 hours in one sitting.
Still a short game, but double what you're saying.
>Also this version can be replayed, while the original can't. The differences make it a somewhat different game, for better or worse.
There's also some kind of countdown to a day in March, which is hinted to be some kind of content drop that might nullify your choice by both restoring the world and freeing Niko, as The Author says he wants to come back and fix things.
kek
Hiveswap is just a money laundering scheme to fund Hussie's 2020 presidental campaign. He's gonna make Sburb real and you're gonna pay for it with your lives
I was speaking of the freeware version, I didn't realise the steam version added substantial content
neat
Yeah the Steam version has upgraded graphics and more puzzles/dialogue.
Do tell about that.
I completely skimmed past it on my play through I just now noticed it.
In-game there's a legendary author who travels the world and writes loads of informative non-fiction books extremely quickly, so much so that there's an author at a library that complains that he's having to go back and change his works since this legendary author is writing books about the same things he's already written, and this legendary author is more famous.
I think its moreso lore relevant, however its worth noting that Nightmargin is on the record for saying in streams while developing this extended version that she was terrified of the game being compared to Undertale and thus intended to revise some parts of the game to avoid comparison
I just played through it a few days ago. Some guy mentioned the game and said you should just play without knowing anything beforehand, and so I did. I wasn't really impressed to be honest.
I respect the creativity behind Undertale, but I didn't really enjoy that game either, so I might just not be the type of person that likes this kind of game.
Now comes a spoiler, so don't read it if you want to play Oneshot in the future.
I mean I would recommend OneShot to people that like this kind of stuff, but the fourth wall breaks just felt gimmicky and cheap to me. You have that one moment of "heh, cool" when that windows pops up for the first time. It's like when you get a reference in a TV Show or something. I get it, and it's nice at first, but it gets old really fast. And the problem is that Oneshot never really did something great with its gimmicks in my opinion.
Also even if it was really short, I felt that it had some filler. Of course this was all just a big setup to get closer to Niko. He is likeable, sure. But the desicion in the end felt hamfisted. It's the cheapest way to make the player "feel". Make him force to indirectly kill the main character.
Doing a let's play on this actually. Pretty fun/cute game.
Riding on the little robot up in the apartments was amusing.
The robot voice was hilarious
"ROBOTS DO NOT EAT BATTERIES"
"You embarrassed me"
