pick one.
Pick one
Playstation
is this a joke?
Genesis does what nintedon't nigga.
Super Nintendo, not even a contest.
Superior version of Aladdin, Mortal Kombat is for normies, enjoy your Sonic Box.
SNES.
I had both. SNES had better games even though Sega had the best game of that generation on it, Gunstar Heroes.
Super Nintendo, you don't need blast processing for fun games
SNES
Had infinitely more games. Only kids that only had Genesis were always degenerate poorfags. Always.
>Superior versionf of Aladdin
That's objectively wrong.
Genesis had both superior versions of Mortal Kombat and Aladdin.
is this a joke?
Super Nitendoes what gensis don't, nigga.
genesis all day.
MK, I'll give you, but who plays shitty fighters, anyway?
And Aladdin is not roughly the height of Snake Jafar. The Super Nintendo version also clearly wins on both presentation and sound. Need I mention the lava wave level?
Only edgy kids pick Sega.
is this a joke?
Neo-Geo does what Sega and Nintendon't
>muh graphics over gameplay
Everytime.
>best game of the generation
Kirby Superstar creams your stupid-ass Treasure meme company run and gun game. Especially in the face of:
>can hold left on the temple slide and avoid all soldiers in Pink's level
And other similar exploits.
Genesis for Nintendo knockoffs and sonic.
Sega does what Nintendon't
its weird how Sup Forums prefers the super nintendo over the genesis and /vr/ prefers the genesis over the super nintendo.
The gameplay was inferior, too. Throw an apple here and there, explore a stupid level, at least the SNES version gradually tested your platforming.
>/vr/
>retro
>hipsters
To fucking no one's surprise, more like.
Genesis.
I'm more of an fast paced arcade gaming and shmup type of guy, and as much as I love Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, I simply adore Phantasy Star IV .
I can also cheat a bit by adding Sega CD and 32X to it, along with Master System and Game Gear adapters.
>implying hipsters arent more attracted to the super nintendo
Actually, there's been a shift. /vr/ was more pro SNES back when it started, but given that it is familiar territory to the majority American audience that populates Sup Forums, it's easy to see how people might shift perspectives over the years as they explore grounds that are more fresh to them.
Both systems are top tier, preference is actually pretty arbitrary, and the console war battleground didn't really exist back in the day outside of aggressive advertisement campaigns.
One of these days I need to play more Genesis games. I've only played Aladdin, Boogerman, Sonic 1-3 and a bit of Spinball, Castlevania: Bloodlines, and The Incredible Crash Dummies.
Choosing between the two is a mix of nostalgia and what games you enjoyed with friends. I can rag on the Genesis because I had one.
If you were a Sonic, any mascot game you could get, Gunstar Heroes, NBA Jam kinda person, it was the Genesis.
Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat were available on both.
If it was Nintendo's properties and games you enjoyed (especially Mario Kart) and let's not forget the Super Scope (where the FUCK is Metal Combat, Nintendo?!), then of course it was the Super Nintendo.
Super Nintendo.
Which you preferred back then or even now almost always lands on what system your parents bought you or you bought yourself first, although Nintendo's previous system and Sega's dominance in the arcade market might also influence your overall preference.
Younger generations shouldn't buy into favoritism, as they can freely enjoy the best both have to offer trough fairly accurate emulation, though to be honest there are a lot of post SNES Nintendo kiddies and the occasional Dreamcast nostalgic out there talking shit about things they haven't experienced yet.
2 of the greatest consoles. I grew up with a snes and only got a Genesis a few years ago in my early 20s. I've been slowly collecting what I'm told are the best Genesis games and I've been very impressed.
I think snes wins on platformers, it's hard to beat Mario World and Donkey Kong Country, and rpgs (earthbound and ff4 & 6). But Genesis wins hands down on beat em ups and shmups. I think if I could only have one I would stick with snes, but Genesis still beats almost every other console ever made. It was easily the greatest generation imo (also I'm biased because it was the generation that I became a gamer).
snes also has the best game in the ghosts and goblins franchise. Super Ghouls n Ghosts is goat.
Best snes game: Super Mario World
Best Genesis game (of the roughly 20 I've played): Streets of Rage 2 w/ honorable mention to Gunstar Heroes
yes but sega had better mortal kombat and platformers games and back then those were popular
The one that has Super Metroid, Super Mario World, DKC trilogy, Megaman X trilogy, Chrono Trigger and Terranigma.
I had both, but I played SNES a lot more
No idea why, but Genesis feels like a point between a NES and a SNES. The horrible sound, that terrible color palette and usually developers where a lot more lazy on genesis for mutiplats.
Whatever Genesis had great games, like Castlevania, Contra, Gunstar Heroes, Soleil, Shinning Force, Landstalker, Etc.
But Snes have an even better library of games.
You know, I can't even remember which I got first. Or how close to the releases they were. All I can remember is the first games that I played on both, and that's SMB2 on Super Mario All-Stars and Sonic 1.
Again, there's definitely some personal preference there, too. Sega definitely offered the edgier, grittier games (yeah, I know, they're tame) relative to Nintendo's laid-back offerings. I mean, compare Streets of Rage to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
>compare Streets of Rage to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Why? Genesis got an enhanced port of the later with both merits and flaws that arguably make it a good alternative to the about equally good SNES and Arcade version.
I honestly preffer the gameplay of Turtles in Time to any Streets of Rage
Hyper Stone was a terrible port. Graphics where subpar, the new levels was poor designed and music was shitty compared to arcade and snes.
SNES. It isn't even close.
Konami Genesis games (especially ports) were always the worst versions, with tons of removed content and bizarrely dark color palettes. Its like they had something against Sega. Except for Contra Hard Corps (which allegedly was only made to compete with Gunstar Heroes since Treasure was made by ex-konami employees) and Castlevania Bloodlines.
Stages were longer, animation had more frames than both the SNES and the arcade versions, and the tunes were stellar.
Nah, unlike Capcom, Konami was killing it on both systems, especially in the sound department.
