So is there a list of changes made to this game from the JP version to the NA version? All I've heard is that they removed dialogue, what exactly is different in the NA release?

sister Furiae wants Caim dick in the japanese version
in na version she wants a hug

really

And it still very heavily hints at the incest in the NA version.

Fucking Americans

I think you're right OP, they just kinda removed everything about incest and Leonard's... tendencies if you catch my drift

unrelated in nier but they changed your sister to your daughter

and it was better off that way.

what about drakengard 3 other than terrible voices

furiae wanting to fuck caim
leonard pedo tendencies are just hinted
that is all, except if you count a trap voicing angel instead of an old woman.

Confirmed Kino

RARE TARO

You'd have to be really fucking stupid to not get the incestuous connotation "Hold me, dear brother." Especially when it is preceeded by lines such as "I'm dirty, I'm no goddess." What the fuck do you think it means when a man "holds" a woman? It isn't something people do in platonic relationships, I'll tell you that much. The whole fucking game the Dragon is beratting Caim for being oblivious to his sisters feelings. She pretty much tells him to go fuck the shit out of her at one point. People must be stupid. I can't be the only one who picked this up without someone telling me the original Japanese lines. God you're all dumb.

They removed Leonard's story for the reason he wasn't at home when the empire stomped over it. He was off playing with little boys.

Why is she so adorable? I just want to protect her forever damn it.

This desu. The message seemed pretty clear.

FU RI AE

FU RI AE

FU RI AE

FU RI AE

FU RI AE

So was he fucking the corpse or masturbating over it? It just seems like a Japanese cliche to repeat the name of the person you're blowing your load over. I wonder how that scene sounds in Japanese because it came across terribly in English, despite the voice actor's otherwise stellar job throughout.

Was that what he was actually doing? Seems pretty hard to do while riding a dragon.

>They removed Leonard's story
What specifically was removed idiot? A cutscene? A line of dialogue? A level?

What does that even mean?

Pls don't steal

he was trying to sing

Just some lines in a short cutscene from what I know. I think it follows the mission that Caim kills all the little kids but I'm not sure. Basically the facts are:

>Leonard leaves home to fuck some little boys
>Comes home to find all his little boy brothers dead
>Caim finds him and the fairy

If you're armed with that knowledge everything he does and says throughout the course of the game takes on the creeper edge to it that Yoko intended.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. That makes more sense now.

NO MORE GODS!
WE ARE FREE

So is the cutscene removed, or just the lines?

These were both still in just less blatant. I understood both fine after going in blind two years ago. There's no way in hell Furiae didn't want to bone Caim as it's presented.

>The music is terrible

Pleb detected

>They removed Leonard's story for the reason he wasn't at home when the empire stomped over it. He was off playing with little boys.

This is inaccurate

He went to the woods to jerk it to the thought of his brothers, he never actually diddled anyone in any version.

The fan theory is that he was trying to sing her name, but that was his pact price so he can't.

> Listening to Growing Wings with headphones.
Madness is a funny thin, eh?

Every single version of that song is good. Fact.

>when you heard it the first time
youtube.com/watch?v=aWiFbZCLMkM
i almost came

This was my preferred ending theme:

youtube.com/watch?v=dOFd-blyVS0

youtube.com/watch?v=pipL2kljPc4 part ye masses, plebs, patrician coming through

The first time I heard this song I legitimately thought the disc was skipping until the drums came in

Beautiful

The dragon says outright that she wants to bang you in the NA version. It's a major plot device.

Except it says in the manual that he wanted to fuck little boys and gives the backstory for before Caim finds him.

wait what
i dont remember that

It gives the backstory for all the side characters. He had "impure thoughts" about little boys. Doesn't leave much to the imagination.

They used this trick a lot. The reasoning I have heard is that they tried to make the tracks seem as unnatural as possible to make the player feel uncomfortable to match with the chaotic world which if true was a great success.

>web.archive.org/web/20140222144620/http://www.squareenixmusic.com/features/liners/drakengard.shtml
>"It was the result of our efforts to bring to life through music the almost trance-like atmosphere of slicing and attacking the swarming enemies during gameplay and the story more strongly colored by madness and despair as it progresses."

I'd say that's pretty close to the reasoning I got before. They did a good job, the music makes you feel uncomfortable and yet content to continue fighting.

They did a good job.

I've played through the entire series and enjoyed them all (to varying degree's), but honestly this was the only scene from each of the games that made me legitimately shed tears.

Does anyone else feel the same?

that and zero final song

These

Well and a bunch of shit in Nier if you count that

I tried playing this but the new enemy types they introduce just get lamer and lamer to fight.

I think I got up to the bit where they return to the desert to open a portal and I just haven't gotten back to the game. That there's no real viable way to take on ranged enemies doesn't help, once they get into a firing pattern, unless you have some meter it's enjoy your fucking block time.

Best Drakengard game

dito you faggot look like something out of KH

Well he would make a great villain for KH

Use magic. You have a million weapon wheels for fucks sake and you haven't been using your mana for awhile. Game is easy as piss, the setting and storing are what make it great but to quit because you find it hard? You just suck.

The timeskip and relationship with Kaine works so much better with brother nier though.

Besides, brother is basically canon. I know they're both somehow officially canon, but whatever. Everyone knows replicant is favored over gestalt in that regard.

The closest thing that made me start welling up in Nier was putting in your characters name for ending A. Seeing him and Yonah reuniting on perhaps the happiest ending note in that game was what convinced me to stick it out and get the rest of those endings.

As for Caim and Angelus, I guess there was just something satisfying about watching their journey come to an end after all the hardships they've been through, not to mention that they're both pretty fucked up individuals but that they got to go out on a happy note just really stuck with me.

>UNLESS
>YOU HAVE
>SOME METER
You play a game for the story when you can't even read.

Yeah, I think they kept a lot of implications of Furiae's interest in Caim, even if they don't outright say it.

It's the fairy's insults regarding Leonard's fixations that really got toned down.

>turn into skeleton with big head
>understandably cries
>oh nope we cool now I like it now five seconds was enough time for sad

To be fair, a lot of the enemies are immune to magic further into the game. Making the dragon and ranged attacks useless unless you summon Arioch.

And I wouldn't look down on anyone who decided they had better things to do when they saw the requirements for finding every weapon in the game.

I can appreciate that Taro wanted to do something different with Drakengard 3, but I was pretty disappointed when I expected something akin to either Nier or Drakengard 1 in terms of tone.

>expected something akin to either Nier or Drakengard
he explicitly told not to do that

japan got both papa nier and brother nier, they didn't change it

WELCOME TO A WORLD WITHOUT SONG

>papa nier is xboxer exclusive
Basically means no japanese played it.

yoko taro is a beautiful treasure that must be protected

I went in blind.

>taro spent a whole year in England back when he was a student
>he can barely speak the language
weird

twitter.com/yokotaro/status/825786030888513536

You either use it or lose it, retention fades.

Why is Caim always claimed as the best Taro protagonist? How does the others compare to him?

DEATH NEED NOT BE THE END OF HOPE.

yeah but it exists
and brother nier looks like a faggot before the timeskip

>that was like 25 years ago
wait what
how old is taro anyway?

Why didn't we get both?

because the west can't handle little boys

>mute protagonist done right
This is too rare.

They felt (correctly) that most westerners would like the older nier better

he doesn't talk

Western audience and I also think yoko taro thought there wasn't an appropriate english voice for brother nier.

Growing Wings is amazing.

But I didn't know in Japan the 360 had one and PS3 had the other, why would they not do that in the us as well?

Because it would fade in obscurity just like Drakengard 2

I honestly prefer Nier as a character, but Caim was a fun subversion on both the silent protagonist, and the standard quirky JRPG hero.

His subtle relationship with the dragon was interesting, and I thought it was clever how a lot of his characterization was defined through gameplay and the way that everyone basically recoils in horror and disgust at everything he does.

How exactly is he a mute protagonist done right?

What sets him apart from the rest?

Just one final song.

Is it just me or does Yoko tend to make the "damsel in distress" characters total shit in his games?

Like Furiae basically fucked over the world because her brother didn't want to give her the dick, Manah fucked up everything again in D2 and Yonah undid everything her dad did to save them in Nier

Granted I think Yoko intentionally made Furiae shit since he personally hated those types of characters?

Plot reasons for him being mute for starters.

>implying it isn't just another ruse

>Not wanting to forcefully drag her across the country and make her witness all the bullshit she caused against her will

Nowe quit being a faggot

Too bad game was shit.

he fucking hates the little sister trope so he let furiae eat shit and made her a harpy egg
I just dislike how tame NieR is in comparison, I expected despair but ending A and B have been kinda boring

Is there a reason to complete all sidequests in Nier? I've done all the quests in the first half and I feel like I just want to bumrush everything to the endings.

This was very uncharacteristic of him.

>Sexually aroused by gore and murder

I feel that may be outside KH's scope

Can't tell you yet because spoilers but make sure you do them all. Upgrade all the weapons too.

you need all the weapons to get ending C and D

You must have just gotten to that part now and are playing it for the first time.

>him losing ability to speech is important, and winds up being poetic
>him not being able to convey his reasons and most expressions drive him mad and make others think he's even scarier
>Kills tens of thousands of troops alone, endless more with a dragon, and speaks not a word
>Can't reason with his former friend, none of his fucked up companions, can't give his sister solace (the only thing he wanted that wasn't bloodthirsty)
It also makes you fill his shoes more, since you're the one doing the killing with him. And to cement him being a tragic character, he could never tell Verdelet to shut the fuck up.

Mute done right

That and he is a different take on the traditional JRPG hero (rescue your sister / be the hero yadda yadda)

He is a total fucking psychopath and its all shown without him saying a damn thing. Heck pretty much his whole team is messed up and even THEY think he is fucking nuts

jap Zero uses a refined mode of speech but still talks about vulgar stuff
while english zero is vulgar is both speech and subject matters

Caim's just so loveable. I have a hard time explaining it. He's edgy but not presented in an edgy way. His motivations are so pure and so nearly justified, and he doesn't give a single fuck.

Well at least I can do them after getting A and B right? Between having to run from Junk Heap to Seafront and planting flowers, I'm really getting tired of these bullshits.

Well he had to be convinced / stopped from killing her outright so yeah he went with that as an alternative

Furaie feels like a stab at the sister/damsel in distress trope because she doesn't have much defining characterization outside of her interest in Caim, and you're unable to save her, over and over again.

Yonah was a bit more developed, and has more of a chance to establish why losing her is a tragedy on a personal level rather than an obligatory global one. Plus, as depressing as it is for the Shadowlord, I don't think that refusing to take someone else's body was meant to be seen as a negative trait on her part. It's just more emphasis on how horrific the situation was for all parties involved.

Your time will come
