TREMBLE WITH TERROR, YOU ARE FINISHED!
PREPARE TO BECOME SPACE DUST
BURN TO THE GROUND!
ARE YOU READY FOR ROUND 2?
YOU PUNK YOU PUNK YOU PUNK YOU PUNK
AROUND AND AROUND!
God playing X7 again after 10 years of not playing it was torture,
YOU'RE GONNA GET HURT, X!
I'M GONNA RECYCLE YOU!
I'M SO ANXIOUS TO RIP YOU APART!
And yet, compared to Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, the voice work was almost professional-level.
Why was Capcom so bad at this? And why was Mega Man Legends/2 the only PS1 games unaffected?
PREPARE TO BECOME SPACE FUCKED
>CHARGE SHOT
FEEL IT!
>dashing/jumping anywhere as fucking Zero
HOO HAH HOO YEAH!
Are you really saying RE was worse than Mega "Light Fudd" Man 8's dub?
I prefer RE and DMC VA desu.
MM8's was pretty funny/bad Roll sounds more manly then fucking Megaman himself X4's. Well. You know.
We don't talk about X7's Unless you want to hear Alucard as Signas. Although it is funny that X7 actually has a dual audio option.
TIME TO EAT CEREAL!
GET READY!
YEAH YEAH YEAH!
Well, yes. The VAs of Mega Man 8 seemed to at least put some effort into it. The VAs of Resident Evil didn't even seem to understand the context in which they were voicing their lines. I'm sure it wasn't their fault, since voice direction is very important and they clearly didn't have any, but it was insanely awkward and stilted.
Then again, unlike the Mega Man dubs, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry's English scripts and dubs were actually all made in Japan, and apparently written by the directors themselves. I think Silent Hill by Konami did the same thing as well. And let's be real, Kamiya is no writer. "I should been the one to fill your dark soul with light" is a weird line no matter what language it's in.
PSX Megaman was a mistake. This coming from someone who thinks Sony crushed that generation.
4 was okay, but the series just wasn't the same from then on. The real X series died with 3.
I AM SO EAGER TO RIP YOU APART
ARE YOU READY FOR ROUND TWO?!!
>The VAs of Mega Man 8 seemed to at least put some effort into it.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Well sure. Mega Man's scream of agony when he was being tortured by Dr. Wily was almost kind of authentic.
user no. Don't make me look up a youtube video of it to prove you otherwise.
X4 was a better game than X3. But unfortunately, the next two games were drowned in a lack of budget and zero development time.
Mega Man 8 was probably the best-looking of the PS1 2D Mega Man titles, though questionable design decisions made it less than beloved.
>Getting and staying up a wall with Zero
YEAYAYEAYEAYAYYEAAYAYYEAYAYAYAYAY
who is maxresdefault 1? some fag streamer?
He just heard what his dialogue sounds like.
It's all fresh on my mind. Nothing you post will really be able to convince me that Resident Evil's dub was "better". It's like they just picked up some completely random people off the street, had them read off a script with zero context or direction for ten minutes, paid them and were done with it.
TOO LATE
I won't say it's better. I prefer RE more however, Like I said. Compared to MM VAs.
Shit man. The only VA I actually somewhat liked in MM8 was Willy's
GOTCHA
It's not an issue of casting. For all the lack of talent in MM8's voice cast, RE's has even less talent.
Or at the very least, less direction and takes.
I actually enjoyed Lucas Gilbertson's work
Okay. Fair enough I suppose.
I want to hear the original Jap VA that RE1 was suppose to have. But was so apparently bad they never bothered using them.
I thought Gilbertson was a very poor fit for Zero. He was more skilled than any previous VA to be sure, but it never really quite clicked. He was a bit too casual.
Bosch managed to capture Zero's tone and personality a bit better in MvC3. Serious, no-nonsense, professional.
He's pretty alright. He seemed to really enjoy his role as Zero considering he went out of his way to re-do X4's certain scene and even did a let's play(that's not finished) of X8.
I actually looked up the process behind RE1's voice acting a while ago and the main reason the voices in that game are so goofy has nothing to do with the actors or number of takes. They did every line in that game a couple dozen times each, with each take emphasizing it slightly differently, so that somebody on Capcom's end could pick the one they liked best. And the guy on Capcom's end spoke little to no English; he was just listening for the one he thought sounded the coolest. With all the takes available you could probably edit together a version of RE1 that sounds like it was acted by actual humans, but instead we got the one that sounded best to a dude who had only a passing familiarity with the language.
for real?
Japanese vidya script writing and dubbing back in those days was weird as shit.
It's amazing that Mega Man Legends turned out as good as it did. Shame Tiesel's VA turned out to be a pedo though.
