KUMBULA
Haven't played this game in a million years but I still remember this map and all its strats.
tl;dr: The gameplay of Karkand changes dramatically depending on how well the teams are played, making for incredibly diverse matches.
Where the US went in the beginning would completely change how the game was played.
If MEC defends well, US can't just steamroll B and then steamroll the Square right afterwards. This forces US to either flank A or C, and risk getting gunned down by the MEC. Good teams will flank both, forcing MEC to defend all points equally while still confronting the major US force blindly pushing B.
An immaculate MEC defense will end the game at B. US will not be able to sneak through A/C and the game will devolve into a farm. If the US manages to sneak through however, then you have many scenarios that will pop up.
-Cap Suburbs (top left), which will alert the MEC that US has penetrated their ranks. MEC can either send a squad north to check suburbs or flank right to cut them off at Trains.
-Cap Square and flank right across river to Factory. This will both alert MEC that factory is in danger, which if left unchecked will result in the complete loss off right map (which means an easy victory for US, and that the fight at B is now up north, and the MEC still fighting at B is now in danger of being sandwiched.
This is only the starting scenario. So many variables can change how Karkand is played and that is why it is and always will be best map.
Forgot to include the diagram I drew.

>most of Sup Forums is too underage to have played battlefield 2, so they can't even discuss it properly and instead resort to posting shitty memes they saw regurgitated over and over
i can think of road to jalalabad, mashtuur city, sharqi peninsula, wake island, gulf of oman, and many other great battlefield maps but yeah.. strike at karkand is undeniably the best.
op is right for once.
loved first half of map but after bridge it became clusterfuck without any fun
That sweet spot next to the first flag to where you could get behind enemy lines and pincer attack the MEC soldiers to the left of the map. Gotta be fast.
Its also in BF3 and BF P4F, dumbass.
>ugly
>shitty fog
>armor gets stuck in fucking post lamps and such
yeah..." best " fps map of all time
He's posting the BF 2 maps though. And the games you've listed are absolute shit.
Karkand is shit.
the BF3 version got butchered slightly, they removed the two flags behind the factory (which sucked) and added a flag in the middle which i think it was for the best (more action)
its ok
Market flag would never fucking fly in BF3.
BF2 had this crazy thing called NADESPAM. Everyone and their mother would spam nade Market 24/7, making the point uncappable.
>"These young'ns today are too dumb to know about Karkand"
>Well except for the fact there are modern releases of it, retard
>"DEM GAMEZ ARE SHIT SONNY LET ME TELL U ABOUT BACK IN MY DAY 10 YEARS AGO."
get your first two points, but if your problem is you hit lamps and get stuck try getting good at driving tanks. it's not the maps fault.
This user is right. Maps play out completely differently each time due the danger of one side having no base spawn thus being forced to respond quickly to any flanking maneuver.
Are there any games like this with a commander role or strategy element that I don't need 64 other people to play with?
Alternatively, is there a way to trick the game into letting me single player or co op player the 64 man maps with?
I don't have eyes on the back of my head, but it really just tickled my autism that an M1 can't go over wooden crates or one or two lamp posts.
But that's not Camp Gibraltar.
Also, this
who gulf of oman here?
I want a game where you command a whole aircraft carrier, but it'll never happen. Still, imagine how cool it would be.
ok grandad, tell us a story.

BF1942
That's not Crash from CoD 4 user.
see
kids these days...
bf1942 is also free on origin
>implying Dragon Valley wasn't the best map
>implying that having 90% of the servers to be "Karkand 24/7" is a good thin
I think you could play with 63 bots if I remember correctly.
I think you can play in lan with bots.
it's so simple
so perfect
Dragon Valley was cool except for it being fucking impossible to aim TV missiles since the crosshair blended in perfectly with the sky. Though I seem to recall they did patch that eventually. It only took several years.
I liked Ghost Town the best. Ghost Town was a fun map.
I loved playing in tank/APC, so I really liked Dragon Valley. Too bad that:
>good jet pilots ruin your day, doesn't matter what you play
>TV missiles ruin your day
>those fucking servers where a single hand-held AT-missile destroys your vehicle ruin your day
Other than that, it was pretty fun to play as a tankee.
Got hype and checked, I can't find it anywhere. Looks like they took it down.
63 bots, on a 32 man map. Doesn't expand the borders and unlock the helicopters. Same with LAN coop.
I hope it gets put in BF1
You mispelled Fuel Dump
That isn't par four the course.
