Give me one legitimately good reason why you don't play/run competitive Pokémon. No bullshit horse-shit excuses that Pokémon isn't competitive either, that's only going to show and tell that you're some sore-loser who sucks at competitive Pokémon. I'll wait.

...

Pokemon isn't fun.

Isn't competetive. The rng of status and crits ruins it. It isn't even calculated rng like in poker, it's just bullshit.

I don't feel the need to be competitive in a game for children

Digimon is better

Because i do not give a fuck about competitive gaming. Go play a sport if you want competition.

Pokemon has the same problem magic, yugioh and any other game based around cookie-cutting has.

Eventually, given enough time, every battle is the same fucking battle because people just build teams based on shit they read online.

It's just Gengar and Dragon hell all over again.

Im a filthy casual who only enjoy the """"story"""" and play other games after i finish.

Im too lazy to be an injector fag, too.

I'm horrible at competitive play and predictions, so I just play the storyline and have fun.

The setup process is long and tedious, the skill involved is minimal, despite there being 700 pokemon the comp approved list is a small fraction.
If Pokemon was a game which let me use my favourites I'd be down. I love Diglett.

rng games aren't competitive at all

Did it once during the DP era. The thought of doing all that pointless grinding gives me fucking nightmares.

Once is enough for any lifetime.

>there will never be a yugioh duel kingdoms like environment because everybody will be using the same net decks they found online

just end me

Because Im not an autistic faggot.

Too many autists play it

Because I suck at competitive play, and I'm not afraid to admit that. The one friend that I have who plays competitively consistently schools me with half the party size that I use.

Besides that, I just don't see the point of spending the amount of time necessary to "git gud". I have other things to do (especially come the fall, when I'll be starting law school, and likely won't have much, if any time to play). So I play casually, just enjoying the fun of the game itself.

Call me a casual loser if you must, I really don't care.

There is no skill involved. Assuming maximum IV's and favorable natures on every Pokemon by default, one wins in Pokemon purely through RNG and through having a greater encyclopedic knowledge of what builds to run, what order to send them out in, what to do in the chance that _______ move misses, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I can see why somebody would find this appealing, but it's simply not for me. I prefer competitive gaming where there is some hand-eye co-ordination involved and where the possible interactions aren't almost entirely pre-determined before a match even begins. Fightan comes to mind but there's plenty of other genres too

>casual loser
>law school

checks out

It's not enjoyable

>need to slog to 20 hours of boring gameplay to spend 200 hours grinding and min maxing so i can enter this rng shitfest of a competitive scene
Where the fuck do I sign up?

Because I'm happy enough playing the main story and moving onto another game?

I don't care about competition when I play Pokémon. I play it for the world and exploration.

>comp approved
wut
And you can use your favorites, just pick the tier they're in. Diglett is alright in Little Cup.

What the fuck are "IVs" and "EVs" without saying some shit that makes them sound made up

Don't really feel like going up against the same boring OU teams everyone and their mother makes that has saturated the competitive setting to a crawl to this day.

IVs are individual values. Basically when you hatch or catch a Pokemon they're given a set of IVs that add to each of their stats.

EVs are effort values. When you defeat a Pokemon or use a Vitamin in game, you get EVs in a stat, which add to that stat.

IVs are the Pokemon's natural stat base
EVs are the result of its training

Pokemon comp is broken as shit and boring

>IVs
You ride a bike (Tauros now) for a gorillian hours to make your Pokemon perfect.
>EVs
Kill Zubats to make your Pokemon faster! Kill Machops to make them stronger! Kill Geodudes to make them tougher!

Got bored of competitive back in gen 4.

Still raise competitive mons though to rock the facilities.

Smash is more competitive than this shit

VGC is terribly unbalanced.
Smogon tends to skew ban lists so that stall can be viable when the meta would primarily focus on hyper offensive if left to develop on it's own.

I won't play competitive if it means playing unbalanced mess or if it means playing along the rules of 10 or so smogon elites.

this is every competitive scene ever, doe.

Mario Kart is more competitive than smash though

I don't like to autistic grind
>lol just inject
I don't like to cheat and I can just use smogon if I wanted too

because every faggot has genies and mega kangha or mega sableye
don't know enough about the new meta but I'd assume tapus are running as rampant as the genies now
and if you do battle spot you run into a dark void smeargle lead every other game
the most entertainment you can get with comp pokemon is showdown, what with the seven hour stall match that happened yesterday and showderp threads

>the role of this pokemon is waiting for a 30% chance burn.
Extremely RNG reliant

>"I packed HP ground just for this unique case
which only happens once a year! Glad that it worked today :D"
Pre-match actions have a great influence on the outcome of a match

>litteraly 90% of the dex is unviable ( even considering each tiers separatly ), 90% of all moves too
Game itself is unbalanced as fuck (wasn't meant to be competitive) and Smogon is trying desperatly change this, but they will never succeed

This game is NOT competitive and will never be

Pokémon isn't mean to be competitive.

because I only play Pokémon because I like to try to catch 'em all

I played competitively for a few years

It's simply not fun

fuck the rng, fuck megas, fuck mega fug.
