I'm not buying the Switch until it changes its stance on online to be free. It likely won't ever do that, which means I likely won't ever buy it.

I suffered through the Wii U years and was willing to give Nintendo a chance to make it up to their fans with the new console but that was the final straw.

Fuck no it'll never happen. The problem is that they were too late to start charging for online. xbox and playstation systems have been making LITERALLY FREE money for YEARS from charging for online, money that nintendo has been missing out on. There's no fucking way they can afford to NOT charge for online when everyone else is doing it, it's just not possible anymore on consoles.

They might lose profit by not putting an arbitrary price tag on using the console with your own Internet that you already paid for, but they also gain profit, not necessarily as much as they lose, by attracting people who really, really fucking hate paid online, like me. I dropped Sony consoles when the PS4 did that shit but stayed loyal to Nintendo, until they did the exact same shit with the Switch of course.

Games like Splatoon 2 are going to suffer because of their decision.
