It's because of oversaturation in the game market for dinosaur games. Just like with WW2 shooters, there only so many times you can storm the beaches of Omaha again and again. Same logic applies to Dinosaurs, you can't just keep putting in a T-rex and other well known dinosaurs over and over.

I think its the jurassic park effect, in the ways of jurassic park nailed dinos in media so well that any game or movie HAS to be hype because a great dino game/movie is rated against jurassic park. a shitty one is just forgotten in time so I assume many are afraid to take on the actual project for fear of pumping out a visually good ass dino game but gameplay and everything else is dogshit. years later and Operation Genesis is still my top dino game.
