Can somebody explain where this came from? Is Sup Forums just too underaged to have played Baldur's Gate 2 or something? Even one of the best written games, Planescape Torment, has romances. It was even handled quite decently with Alpha Protocol. I mean seriously, does Sup Forums have a problem with the way The Witcher handles romance?
If the first two Fallout games (my two favorite WRPGs) had romances, would they better games for it? Maybe, maybe not, but considering the quality of both games writing, it wouldn't have hurt.
So what's the deal, Sup Forums?

Why the fuck would you play western shit for romance?
As someone who plays JRPG exclusively, and strongly prefers JRPGs with romance, I find the idea of playing western games with romance repulsive. The games themselves are utter crap so the romance couldn't be much better.

I know this thread is copypasta and this reply is probably bait but I unironically completely agree with this. romance in wrpgs is a joke. there's just too many factors preventing western devs from making it satisfying. part of it is that they just plain don't know what their doing. part of it is sjw shit forcing them to make heroines ugly and unlikable. part of it is hubris making them think their writing skill will make a character appealing in spite of everything else. it's like watching the dumb kid from school fucking up a project and then refusing your help when you try to point out what he's doing wrong.
