Beta trailers makes a game look like it would have been a more interesting experience than the final product

Nintendo are fucking masters of making you wonder how a game would have originally turned out had they not made drastic changes during development

I like the music.

No, it's just in human nature to want what we can't have. The only exception is bullshots and pre-rendered movies.

>Sequential sword swings flow properly from one to the other rather than the awkward triple swing OoT had

Dang, that got kinda funky. What song is it supposed to be? I recognize a bit of the melody.
Kinda makes me wonder what kind of tone the game would have if that was the musical style.

is it weird i never really liked this game because it had no real jump button, i mean, you have this whole word in front of you and you cant jump, kinda makes for a very horizontal experience, it really turned me of the game in 1998 when my freind first got it and thought it was amazing, i never really got the appeal, let alone you had to play it on a n64 controller, and also i was more into more PC titles and the n64 seemed so kiddy, none of the games ever really appealed to me.

it was a stark change from the grittiness of the SNES games and themes.

spyro the dragon or crash bandicoot

>That version of Resident Evil 4 where Leon is tripping on the Progenitor Virus

Aside obviously pre-rendered graphics that trailer shows nothing though.

>That version of Resident Evil 4 staring Tony Redgrave

I give me more of a sense of excitement than anything else they showed of it. The world looks more like something I'd want to explore than what we've subsequently seen.
The game will probably be very good at least anyway, but it's a bit of a let down from what that had me expecting.

You like looking at beta screenshots you feel like you'd get to explore a weird alternate reality version of a familiar game, but if you if you actually played it there would just be mostly empty, broken environments.

Music reminded me of Rayman 2

It is very wild and inconsistent with where it hits, though. I can see why they swapped it for something more predictable.

>beta hl2

>version of the game you'll never play looks more interesting than the version of the game you played and discovered everything about it
Wew, Nintendo's really at fault here.

Well it's mostly Miyamoto's fault

No it's yours.

I've been fascinated with beta games for as long as I've known about them. I still hope someone puts together a hack or something so we can play the Twelve Tales version of Conker.

Check out this channel. It has some videos on beta content for a lot of games: youtube.com/channel/UCtByt51SvEuImGDC2bAiC6g

Definitely checking these out. Thanks.

>a link to the past
>gritty
Hmmm, what did he mean by this?

>my speculation is more interesting than the actual game

trailer that beats the real game?

It looks more interesting to you because you've seen OoT a million times, but not this version, so it looks mysterious.

He meant

>i never played a link to the past before

youtube.com/watch?v=nn5ftuJOTew

Better than both the game AND the movie.

Biohazard 2 early version was going to be awesome until Kamiya redid everything

>game is good
>enter miyamoto
>becomes worse

Every time.

Alright fag post games you're most curious about playing a version of with beta elements
>Pokemon Gen 2 or 7
>Both Sonic Adventures
>Mario World and Sunshine

OoT turned out great though?

>tfw RE7 became a trash version of 3.5
is there a bigger monkeypaw?

Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, and the 2 versions of Resident Evil 5. the original PS3 exclusive alpha, where Jill will side with Wesker if you fuck up and Barry becomes your partner, and the early multiplat version where its No Mercy mode everytime.

Trails of Cold Steel where Alisa and Rean had reversed roles and a canon romance and Rean used a gun instead of a katana. Sounds a lot more interestimg than the LN schlock we got.

It was hardware limitations. It was going to be a 64DD game and have persistent footsteps and majora style schedules and more time travel hijinx.. Originally is was also first person and may as well have been console Morrowind.

What we got instead was Hyrule castle turned into the forest temple, a cut wind temple, light temple and ice dungeon, and no pyramid.

Hypothetical or things we know had some funky shit cut? If the former, Silent Hill 1-4, if the latter, Jak & Daxter I guess.

>Hyrule castle turned into the forest temple
What?

Hybrid Heaven, it actually had stealth mechanics and you could hide in objects.

Ocarina of Time
Half Life 2

>you will never be a kid reading Zelda's Secret Ocarina obsessing over OoT beta shit again

What was cut from Silent Hill 1-4?

The Zelda series typically doesn't have a jump button but there is auto jumping which started in lttp.

Actually all 3D Zeldas do have button combinations that allows Link to jump (Z targeting forward lunge attack) but it's not practical for getting up on shit.
