op is way cooler than fishboobs
Best rendition of Loki coming through.
>Lucifer
>The most perfect of all of God's angels
>Always depicted as a monstrous demon, only a few exceptions
...
I'm not seeing anything that relates it back to mythology. I do like the design though.
...
Well, angels are described as chimera looking things. And the 7 heads and however many horns thing OP posted is a revelations thing
...
>Hitting hell face first
>Wouldn't fuck up his body
WOW DUDE, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW GOD WOULDN'T LIKE MY UPRISING?!?!?!?!?! *burps* STUPID BULLSHIT BUGGED ANGEL MECHANICS HAHAHAHAHA
These look terrible, the only good redesign is and that's only because Odin's original looked very basic
Fuck this fight
Of the one's you quoted, only SMT IV Lucifer looked terrible.
...
Isn't Loki centered around trickery and mischief? His design looks a lot like an optical illusion so maybe that was the intention?
I would post the reason behind the design if it didn't contain any spoilers
Seiten Taisen rendition is pretty good too though
Angels are regularly described as monstrous, and even beyond that, SMT runs on a pseudo-Paradice Lost universe, in which Lucifer is directly referred to as being disfigured after his fall.
I still prefer this Demiurge iteration compared to but the Final one is better than the Soul Hackers one.
Odin in Soul Hackers was good too.
>Satan looks like a Rat with a spattered tomato for a head
>Lucifer looks like Squidward with cancer
>Yhvh looks as if Nomura got high on crack, angel dust, and krokodil, then designed a shit looking Chernobog
No, they look like diarrhea shit
>implying anyone who didn't spoiled themselves or played the game would still be browsing Sup Forums
just tell us senpai
...
Well ok
Loki's image is supposed to be being unidentifiable/his true form being unknown. His design's one where you can't tell if there's more black or more white in the pattern, giving the feeling that you can't tell which faction he belongs to. His design's motif is based on the dazzle camouflage used by warships in World War I, which was used to make the size and shape of the warships difficult to figure out. The horns sprouting from his eyes are based on parasites snails can get, and meant to stress the feeling that you can't tell how much independency he has/if he has any at all as well as invoking a bad feeling. Including Goro himself, it gives the feeling of "what's the real you?". The image for Laevateinn's grip is that of pliers, because the blade itself is extremely hot, so it can't be held normally.
Has there ever been a bad design of Shiva? XIII doesn't count, nothing about that game matters.
I'm getting mad Nomura vibes off that.
>Itt slant eyed japs fucking up western fantasy once again
It's like these fuckers skim through and quickread everything and just fill in the gaps with their autistic flare.
>It's like these fuckers skim through and quickread everything and just fill in the gaps with their autistic flare.
Post your superior west designs then
What exactly is wrong about Satan's design there?
>western fantasy
Doi Satan is pretty neat, and his Odin is way cooler than purple naked man Odin. Honestly, considering what he had to work with, the Doi version of IV Lucifer and Medusa are almost decent.
I think his Medusa is great. I've kept her in my party ever since I could fuse her, even refused her so I could get better skills.
...
>more kamen rider designs
They can't keep getting away with this
Forgot image.
Speaking of XIII's Shiva

I don't know dick about Command Mission's story or characters so I don't know if this change in appearance reflects a new direction of X's character, but it's way more interesting than the dull design used for X4-8.
So what is Satan's position supposed to be in terms of SMT lore? In most works he is either the actual devil like Lucifer or one of the seven princes of hell below Lucifer. But in SMT he is usually depicted as some kind of evil god that is almost as strong as the creator God himself.
...
...
Shame that these Persona designs never end up as regular demons, some are really good.
...
It's good shit, even the details like having Laevateinn be held within tweezers because it's so hot.
In Apocalypse he's definitely not as strong as YHVH is, but sees that you are strong enough to overthrow him and helps you out.
He's more based on the "God lets him go around testing people's faith" interpretation of Satan, so in SMT he's YHVH's second-in-command that does all the dirty work.
Satan in SMT2 is an angel of God who's based on such depictions as The Book of Job's Satan, the accuser, who judges and tests humans by God's permission. In SMT2 he judges that all life on Earth should die except for the ones taken aboard the Megiddo ark, and in the Law route allies with you to judge his creator YHVH as well for willing the massacre.
In SMT4Apoc Satan is the combined form of Lucifer and Merkabah, the figureheads who perpetuate the war between Law and Chaos in order to keep YHVH firmly in power, again making him a servant of YHVH. He has become disillusioned with it all, though.
I think that's about it.
...
...
This guy knows what's up
MOST UNLUCKY FOR YOU
Gee golly
He's a servant of YHVH that tests peoples faith and is the judge that YHVH put in charge of. Antithesis of Lucifer.
Makes sense. So in the end he is usually YHVH's bitch but a strong bitch nonetheless.
...
>seven heads
Noice.
I'LL END IT THUS
>MISS
...
SEGA knew fully what the fuck they were doing with the redesign.
Command Mission in general was better than 4-8. 1-3 were the only good X platformers.
higher ranking angels are the ones with the inhuman features. It's actually surprising seeing a game get this right
I'm pretty sure the hooves are a reference to that one myth where Loki turned into a mare and got impregnated by another horse
Damn, that's terrible on a lot of levels. What's the original look like?
>ignoring this sexy fucker
She has a bunch of different designs since she appears in several games but this is the first one.
>cooler
>neo smt fans
I think both designs are pretty great. The new one has a lot of merit for taking inspiration from a passage of the Bible, though.
So wait a second, Satan's new design is inspired by the great red dragon in Revelations, but isn't this as well? Or are they two different beings, just described in very similar terms in Revelations?
Whoof. That's bad in very different ways. It's funny how effectively the redesign shows how fanservice has changed over the years, though, old one's all "WOW LOTTA GAM WHATTA SLUT BOIZ ;)" and the new one is just straight up a 12 year old stripper with a butt plug.
fatsr!
what's with all the weeb shit?
Here's a more recent design to compare to.
Where do you think you are?
Last Bible was my first Megaten and I've never cared for SMT2 Satan.
Both were design by hentai artists so that kind of thing is expected.
Demon designer(s) for SMT IV and IVF is(are) a hack(s).
...
Best post. I like both designs but the right has a better style and fits Celica's character more.
I mean, it's all about interpretation. The seven-headed red dragon can represent a lot of things, and the most common interpretations is that it is either Satan in the flesh, or a representation of Rome.
Not just that, it's also the stigmata, which are on the hands of all things instead of the wrists.
It's not supposed to be stigmata.
Doi designs are fucking shit and have never been good. The only thing he's capable of is cleaning things up for sprite work.
What is it supposed to be then?
I don't get this comic. Is he supposed to be drowning?
>I’ve been thinking for a long time that I’d like to see a demon illustration of Satan as the red dragon described by John in the Book of Revelation. I never thought I’d actually be the one to draw him, but this was a good opportunity so I took it as a challenge. I didn't want him to be mistaken for the Beast of the Harlot, so I only used the description of its head and emphasised the rest as a demon design. The details on his hands and legs are vestiges of his imprisonment in Hell. To me, this design is my biggest wish fulfilled.
Mother Harlot rides the Beast, not the Dragon.
...
>I didn't want him to be mistaken for the Beast of the Harlot, so I only used the description of its head and emphasised the rest as a demon design.
So in short, why didn't he just ask to redesign the harlot?
The Beast is described in similar terms, though. Same seven heads, same ten horns, etc.
Alright, after doing some research it all checks out. The Beast and The Dragon are indeed two different beings, just with many overlapping features.
Ah ok then.
>tfw like concept Mermaid more than the final product
Does it count if the character transforms for a second fight immediately after the first while still maintaining the core design of his first form?
almost every character in the MGS series looks fucking great
The problem I have with Revelations based interpretations is that the story itself is basically a hate track about Rome. People have to go to near impossible lengths to disassociate it with the idea of Rome, but no matter what it's dripping in verses that amount to nothing more than "fuck Rome."
It's the same as trying to get rid of how much Dante hated the Vatican and how much he hated the French when talking about the Divine Comedy. The worse hell gets the more French, Popes, and Cardinals you see.
However this is also part of the reason I prefer Kaneko's version of mixing The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost, to the point where he split up the three faces of the devil between three interpretations of him as well as making ice powers part of his standard arsenal. He even managed to slip in things like having Satan retain the serpent look, have Lucifer resemble the original print drawings included with the Comedy, and Helel be a shining light as if it were pre-fall.
>almost
>inb4 Quiet
The only issue with her is not going full topless. But the SJW's were already in an uproar.
You know how japs are with full nudity in videogames, that never would have happened. Honestly the only 'bad' MGS character design I cn think of is probably fatman but he has a sort of goofy charm to him
Some of the designs in Persona are really excellent but it's such a shame that most of them are just forgotten about once the next game is out.
I'm still fucking mad that Apollo didn't make it into P5 but Orpheus, Izanagi and Thanatos did.
>I'm still fucking mad that Apollo didn't make it into P5 but Orpheus, Izanagi and Thanatos did.
Don't forget that persona that belonged to the fighting game spinoff.
Why did you remind me?
YOU SPELLED BETELGEUSE WRONG, FAGGOT
>True Form
I thought the whole idea of that design was to let YHVH go through everything he's done to the other gods. As in, when Christianity prospered, previous gods were reduced to demons and animals.
It's an okay design, but it is way too gaudy in some places for my tastes.
I would have nixed the gold knuckle caps and made the gloves solid white, and gotten rid of the white trim all over the design. For the trim around the wrists, on the feet, and around the joints, make it silver instead of gold, and darken the silvery purple chest bits, or make them turquoise like his helmet's accents. As for the ankle armor, I'd make it the same shade of turquoise as his helmet. Also, simplify the X Buster, because that was an over-designed mess of lines compared to the usually simple design of previous games.
The Energy Scarf can stay though; that was the sweetest bit from the design, no doubt.
