defend this, sunshinefags
Defend this, sunshinefags
you cheated by waterspraying, you deserve it
Literally no one would defend this you fuckin tool.
muh pachinkos
I legitimately wonder if they ever bothered to playtest this level. Physics were completely bonkers.
It's impossible to defend Sunshine's controls. If it actually controlled well, it wouldn't be the worst 3D Mario.
you would be surprised, with the sunshinefags who say it isn't the worst 3D Mario game
maybe you either need to git gud or just realize that for 95% of the game you'd never run into any real issues with it's controls
64 had far worse issues with it's abhorrent camera, and it's shitty controls
I've played 64 and both Galaxies, but never Sunshine. Could someone tell me what's going on in that pic? Is that a glitch, or can Mario really jump that high that quickly?
>It's impossible to defend Sunshine's controls. If it actually controlled well, it wouldn't be the worst 3D Mario.
What? The controls are the best in 3D Mario, it's the shitty physics that ruin that level and the subpar camera in the rest of the game that brings things down in general.
the fludd has different nozzles, one of them allows you to do a big jump, but takes a while to charge and costs a lot of water
But that's not even the primary reason it's the worst 3D Mario. Most of the time, it controlled fine. Lemme hit you with some truth.
>Half the levels of its N64 predecessor
>Bloated amount of shines per single level
>Beach resort theme got stale pretty quick
>FLUDD is a useless gimmick that slows down gameplay
>Removed the long jump to replace it with FLUDD
>Collecting blue coins is one of the most tedious things ever
>Unskippable cutscenes with voice acting
I'm a sunshinefag. No one would defend the fucking pachinko machine.
I don't think there's a such a thing as a bad Mario game, but as far as the 3D ones go, I thought 3D Land was kinda dull. Not bad, just dull.
wait nevermind my last post that's not the thing he used in the webm though, it's the pachinko machine that has that launch mechanic
Mario jumps off a trampoline at the start. It's a level set in a giant pachinko machine, so he's being launched to the top of it from a spring like a pinball. The problem lies in the collision detection with the pins and other elements of the level, which for some reason barely works and tends to drag him away from the holes where the red coins and the Shine Sprites are located. Also, you can usually influence your direction by using the Hover Nozzle (think a much longer version of Galaxy's star spin), but it doesn't really work in this specific stage.
Now that I think about it, it may have been intentional to make it feel frustrating like a real pachinko. I kinda want to give them the benefit of doubt.
Surprisingly, I never had a problem with the camera in Sunshine; it was always Mario himself. Making adjustments with the FLUDD was necessary because he would never move in the way I anticipated.
That's not what's happening here though is it? He already has the jetpack attachment.
The camera always fucked me in the hotel level once you were inside. It had a good spooky atmosphere though.
...
>Sunshine
>worst 3D Mario
>when 64, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, 3D Land, 3D World and Odyssey exist
Made me kek
Well memed user
those games are all vastly better than Sunshit, except for Odyssey which we don't know shit about
FLUDD was a mistake. A bunch of my experience with this game was using the hover nozzle to get make jumps that I'm pretty sure weren't the intended paths. Side jump + hover nozzle let you go almost anywhere.
Dumbass.
Though you make a point, if we count 3D Land, that's actually the worst 3D Mario. So congratz, Sunshine's only second worse ;)
Agreed, I still don't know the intended ways to make a lot of the jumps. I usually just wall hop/hover nozzle bullshit my way to the goal.
I don't think I've ever made all the jumps on either reef in Noki Bay without relying on the Hover Nozzle. But I guess it was more complacency than outright bad level design. If you had it, why not use it as much as possible?
