user thats gta 4....

one side of my local gamestop looks like this now

sonics arms are blue

Welcome to Gamestop, where the games go to get to gettin' before gettins' gone

And that's.....bad?

They're diversifying. In a logical way that makes sense for their business model. Cross merchandise, for similar markets. It helps pay the bills. People can argue it makes up for pirated sales or online competition or whatever other bs reason, but at the end of the day it just leads to more sales.

And more sales keep the store open so people who don't buy or care about that stuff can still go in and get their precious games that they can buy anywhere else. You know what you can't buy anywhere else? A jigsaw puzzle of a video game map.

>*slap the cup out of woman's hand*

SHOW ME YOUR TITS OR GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE, YOU BITCH. I BET YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY GAMES AND IF YOU DO, IT'S FUCKING NORMIE SHIT LIKE ZELDA. YOU'RE ONLY HERE FOR THE ATTENTION, AREN'T YOU!? GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS STORE. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Hey, I'd like to place a shitload of preorders.

>Go to gamestop to buy Vanquish and a ps3
>Guy behind counter tells me not to buy a ps3 or Vanquish and that I should preorder the switch instead
>Tell him I'll probably get it over the summer
>He goes on to tell me that if I'm a true gamer I should support Nintendo and get the switch day one
>He says oh wow all you had to say was you're poor
>Ask him if he's going to sell me the console or not
>He says are you sure you can afford it?
>I say nothing, turn around and walk out while he's mid sentence
>Went home and wrote a nasty email to corporate

I have no idea if he got in trouble but people like him drive me nuts. Seems quite a few people who work at gamestop act like him too.

>trade in Wii U and 3DS

>Fully pay off Switch and BotW

Fucking gamestop? I thought you guys said they were scam artists.

But I'm a guy.

Fake as shit user. Try harder.

Console trade-in values aren't terrible, it's the games they'll give you a couple of dollars for.

I have seen a lot of that behavior among GameStop employees. They all seem to be some kind of elitist or loyalist. I now buy my stuff from Amazon or Walmart.

not when im done with you

Fake like your mom's orgasms

Not one of you banker shits again. We aren't your personal ATM, stop doing this. We'll have you banned.

Same, I legitimately thought I walked into Hot Topic by mistake last time I was in a gamestop because all I saw at first was shit like that all over one half of the store.

Yeah, this did not happen. Unless you are *drastically* misrepresenting your side of that conversation

>0.05 USD has been added to your rewards card

Is the multi-eyed cheese with lasers gone yet?

Nah, what makes it fake is the idea that gamestop actually still had switch preorders open. Even in-store that shit sold out fast as fuck due to Nintendo not stocking shit right.

>no way to play Bayonetta 2 or Xenoblade X
you fucked up

>erp
Look at these pathetic weebs. Look at them and laugh.

>gamestop employee called me an idiot once and laughed at me cause I wouldn't buy the second hand version of a game for €55 instead of the €59.99 new sealed copy
>"hey it's your money user, I can't stop you from being an idiot, lol"

Not him, but that's pretty much the only reason I'm keeping my Wii U.

Breath of the Wild and Super Bomberman R are all I'm going to be getting until Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Mario. Maybe Splat2n if I can snag a Switch before the free internet passes.

i dont think erp is what you think it means user

Like, a money laundering thing?

>"would you like to add a Game Protection Plan to your purchase?"

>mfw I've been buying games for longer than the cashier has been alive and never needed a replacement or warranty on anything

It's only laundering if the money itself was obtained illegally.

>work at Sup ForumsStop
>fat fucks come in and don't make a single pre-order or sign up for anything
>one or two buy some used games but the rest just loiter, muttering about pirating under their breath
>put on my best poker face as these faggots shit on my Circle of Life™ quota
>fast forward to today
>quota is way down
>have to spend all my money on pre-orders and magazine subscriptions just to keep from getting fired
>go into the back to find a memo waiting for me
>the black spot, a death sentence
>sign the bottom line in blood, as is protocol
>summoned to the fiery plane of the Executive Office
>a robed figure points his bony red finger at me
>sentenced to a fate worse than termination
>my soul is extracted and juiced for price tag adhesive
>my empty husk of a body is sold to an affiliate PRE-OWNED for $5 off my old salary

FUCKING Sup ForumsSTOP!

bonus.kottke.org/post/79986249160/the-first-national-bank-of-gamestop

well, you're probably not the average normie that doesn't take care of his shit.

"Please user buy it used or at least trade it for 5 other games, i need to make the margin to get paid and preorder the switch"
In another corner of the store Horizon-kun begins autistic screeching
"ZELDA SHIT GFX REEEEEE"
soon one after another the whole shop is filled by cacophonous wailing, because the autism caused a screeching chain reaction between every Zelda-kun and horizon-kun.
Meanwhile mustard race sits at home and shovels through metric tons of green glowing fecal matter to find a game to play.

Normal day.

Found the GameStop employee.

Preying on people's insecurity is probably the oldest sales tactic. They think if they insult you, you will defend yourself by doing what they say.

Same here, but I always fucking get it cause I'm a neurotic cunt

So do you think the higher ups at Gamestop are shitting their pants over the reveal of their terrible COL policy? Seems to be all over Youtube at the moment.

They'll be shitting their pants if the BBB gets involved.

It's because Gamestop bought ThinkGeek last year.

The store profit cut for trend merchandise is nearly as high if not higher then the profit they make off used games.

Is the BBB an actual government organization? I heard they were some extorting Jews.

Not in my timeline bitch

>give me all your fucking money
But sir, can I interest you in a Sup Forumsstop credit card? With only m...m...m% APR, you are practically robbing me blind!

Not to mention, it's not like they've actually had to reduce how many games they carry, just the display space. In my store, the trendshit just took over the Wii U, Skylanders/Amiibo, and Vita display space.

Hi, Sup ForumsStop. Should I buy Horizon or Zelda?

I don't understand how people so adamantly stick with the companies logic and ignore the consumers logic when they are a consumer. It IS bad if that diversification goes against what you want out of the store, and it is ok for people to feel bad about this. You can assume they will gain profit by selling merchandise shit but on a videogames board why question people being upset about there being less games in there?
>you can still find
Actually since Gamestop has gutted their used games, especially for older systems, I can't find some of the stuff I may want. Gamestop used to be a legitimate way to find some older games for cheap, you had to shop around but the same applied for online shopping, losing an option like that means there's less choice in the market and despite all the shit gamestop gets about used games I found their prices far better than other game hobby shops that would overprice everything or try to match online prices. The lack of effort to standardize used games at Gamestop made it almost like a thrift store where you can chance upon good deals if bothered to look around enough.

>Gamestop runs shit like a thrift store and goes out of business
>now you can't find any games there

DONT CALL ANYBODY
