Was Killer Instinct too hard for Fighting Game Casuals?

Many ppl feel KI characters were too different and varied and required too much play time to get good with and against.

Was KI too difficult to learn even with a fighter background?

Did KI introduce too much foreign concepts for the average fighting game player to comfortably jump into?

I only learned how to do combos up until level 25

Play GG and then talk to me about varied characters.

Of the few Asians who picked up the game, Domi at EVO Main stage he pulls off Cinder Loop multiple times.

It was on XB1 and PC, there's no fighting game audience on either.

No, the problem is that it was on the fucking Xbox One

>was KI too hard for...

LOL

I swear KI's playerbase is somewhere on the spectrum. It's an average FG for average players. It just works.

The fact that it wasn't on PS4 and didn't run on shitty computer killed it

It wasn't even on Steam, it's on the (don't laugh) Windows Store.

That's part of the reason why I like it. Each character is different. Sadira a best

Why is KI so dead anyway? Did Microsoft just not advertise it enough?
Its pretty easy to get into, fun and hype on a casual level, has a natural difficulty curve, the current devs are fantastic and fucking love the game, and its f2p
It should be huge

-retarded payment method
-initial distaste because developers did SH homecoming
-was pretty bad till season 2

Killer Instinct shared the exact same audience as MK9/MK10. Western dudebros who had slight nostalgia for the fighting games they had on SNES as a kid. No real FG experience. I saw people as high as Killer rank (highest rank) jump in over and over again. 'Seasoned' players of KI simply couldn't block overheads, all they knew how to do was dial a combo, that was it.

As a person who doesn't play KI yet plays fighting games, this is how the landscape looks like.
The problem is that the combo breaker system is too time consuming to learn. I can't even imagine learning every single combo, extension, or reset for every matchup. At the beginning of the games life it would have made sense, but at this point it seems like too much.

>xbone and win10 exclusive
When a lot of people are getting a ps4 for SFV, KOF, GG, and BB (or they could get half those w/o win10 later) its hard to win over people who can't afford to be idorts.
I went to a friends place and he had it set up and it was pretty neat learning the mechanics but i wan't about to change my rig or get a new console for it.

No it was xbone exclusive that's why.

I dont think so. I actually really adore the game and was excited when it was going to come to PC but every time I think about getting it the Windows store makes me change my mind. It just sucks all the energy out of me.

It's what you get when most of your staff are FGC enthusiasts.

They focused in making the game so technical to attract hardcore/competitive players they forgot about regular people.

I should play it more but I'm too lazy to reboot into my Windows 10 partition when I can just fire up Revelator on Steam.

holy shit that redesign is bad

all KI games are like this I feel like im constantly trying to do Akumas Raging demon input and its amazing lol. KI games make any other fighter look like childs play
