RE2 N64 has "modern" controls.

I like the original trilogy because it was more about overcoming the shit situation rather than taking down some evil mastermind.

I agree. Sadly 0 feels more like ending the evil mastermind once you get off the train. Can't judge outbreak. My cousins were fags and wouldn't let me play then sold it to ebgames.

Yeah.

Resident Evil games work best when the human villains are only a very minor part of the overall game (Wesker, Annette and Nicholai)
Code: Veronica was the start of Wesker's wild ride although Alfred was fun

Also, the crashed car in the background is a totally out of place '57 Chevy 210, you can just make out the curved rear window and the signature swooped trim on the side.

In Darkside Chronicles, he builds a funhouse maze constructed of plywood and fills it with zombies. Shit's great.

I just make sure nobody can see me playing the game and eventually any semblance of dignity or reasonable thought processing goes out the window while I end up having genuine fun playing through all of the classic Resident Evils, even some of the shittier ones like zero

That definitely belongs to Chief Iron's

re1-3 are so much fun for an annual weekend play
re4 is so good i don't care about differences
cv, 0 and remake just didn't work for me
not played any of the others, don't want to

What didn't you like about remake?

I dunno about out of place

I mean, it is a midwestern town with only 100k people

in fact there's 2(two) DeLoreans so it's a pretty wild place

its been a long time i just remmeber not liking it
maybe i should give it another go its around here somehwere

>tfw still can't git gud using Nicholai in RE3 Merc

Yeah beating that and Hunk on RE2 so satisfying

Still the best intro to a Resident Evil game.

For me the intro of Resi 1 is everything I needed to know about the lore of Biohazard

This. RE7 aint perfect but it does this to an extent which is why I think more people are accepting of it than RE5 and 6.

Not him, they made the mansion's color palette too muddy which made the game feel a bit more repetitive. Also, Lisa Trevor is a boring addition and the crypt where the Crimson Head prototype is kind of felt out of place.

>contaminated by overarching anime-tier canon
Agreed.

As much as I liked the game play in Revelations for 3DS, the anime characters and story were just too much.

Will play RE1 as my first game in the series. Should I emulate the original on PSP, play the DS port or get the remake on PC?

Pretty much this entirely. All that kept 7 from being a perfect retake was the goop-monsters. Would have much rather had the experiments look more like horribly malformed/mutated people a-la Dead Space.

Other than that it was fucking neat.

Yeah. Monsters in RE games should always try to look like something out of a John Carpenter film.
Ever since they started putting black goop monsters and making the bosses look too much amorphous blobs of flesh they lost the horror element.
Marguerite was one they did right, fucked up proportions and creepy walking. She was still kinda goofy, but the other monsters should've been more like her.

Aside from color palette they had good intentions i think. Lisa was obviously supposed to be this Nemesis Pursuer kinda thing but It didn't really work out and with the coffin i guess they wanted to add some kind of a mini boss. Which is all right but execution ain't great, yeah.

Still a fun ride overall, hope they don't fuck up Remake 2, which they'd need to try for since it has a solid base.
